So, a dog.

[Didn't Leo do something like this with his other shinki a little while back? Anyways. Now it's his turn. He's walking with Forrest through the Near Shore, and sighs, running his fingers through his hair. They are quite the pair.

Thank god no one can see them.]

Any idea what it looks like?

It's something called a shiba inu.

[He has no idea what that looks like.]

[deniles]

Ah, they're rather cute dogs.

[If he liked dogs, he'd think they were cute.

Anyways.]

Bit hard to describe, but they're white on the bottom, beige on the top.

[clothes_make_the_man]

All right. It was last seen in this area, so maybe it's still around somewhere.

[Forrest is really just walking along and looking around. This isn't his wheelhouse.]

Do you know any tracking tricks, Niles?

[deniles]

...No, usually this would be left up to the mutt.

[AKA Saix, AKA he still dislikes Leo's other shinki. A lot.]

Maybe we should buy dog treats.

[clothes_make_the_man]

[It takes Forrest a moment to put that together, but once he does, he decides not to pursue that conversation path any further.]

To see if we can lure him out, you mean?

[deniles]

Exactly. Maybe if he smells the treats, he'll be more eager to come out.

[It's fairly smart of Forrest. Niles could talk non-stop about the annoyance of Saix.]

[clothes_make_the_man]

Well, it's certainly worth a try.

[Forrest looks around, eventually spotting a small pet store.]

Can you wait out here in case he shows up while I go inside and buy some biscuits?

[deniles]

[He nods, moving to lean against the wall of the petstore, and watching closely.

There's a lot of dogs that walk by, but not a Shiba. He sighs and shakes his head.]

What a pain...

[clothes_make_the_man]

[Forrest comes out a few minutes later with a plastic package of fancy looking gourmet dog treats, all tied up with a cute little red bow.]

Here we are! Have you had any luck out here?

[deniles]

...It's strange.

[He turns to Forrest when he comes out.]

There's a few dogs out without owners, but I haven't seen a Shiba.

[clothes_make_the_man]

Let's try following the ones with no owners. Maybe they all hang out somewhere together.

[Hey, it's as good an idea as any.]

[deniles]

They were all going that way.

[He points towards one of the nearby alleys where another dog just went down.]

[clothes_make_the_man]

All right. Let's try to be quiet so we don't scare them away.

[Stealth isn't exactly Forrest's forte, but he does his best.]

[deniles]

Follow me.

[Niles is quite used to being stealthy, he slowly starts to move towards the alley, very quietly.]

Light steps.

[clothes_make_the_man]

[Forrest nods, falling into step behind Niles and moving as slowly and quietly as he can.]

[deniles]

[When they get part way, he pauses, and looks at a tail peaking out of a side alley. Short and stubby.]

Alright, get a treat out.

[clothes_make_the_man]

[Forrest nods, slowly and quietly drawing one of the treats out of the bag and kneeling down. He glances to Niles for a signal on whether to keep hold of it or set it down.]

[deniles]

[The one time Niles wishes he understood dogs better.

He thinks this through, and then points to the ground where Forrest can sees before whistling, getting the lost dog's attention.]

[clothes_make_the_man]

[Forrest sets the treat down on the sidewalk in front of him, smiling at the dog and gesturing for him to come.]

[deniles]

The dog begins to walk over to them. Niles makes another gesture to put down another treat, and does this as they back out of the alley.]

[clothes_make_the_man]

[And down goes another treat before Forrest scoots backwards a bit.]

[deniles]

[The dog keeps coming further and further along. When they get back to the main street with the treats, he nods.]

Okay. When the dog comes out, let's grab it and go.

[clothes_make_the_man]

I'll leave that part to you.

[They're just grabbing a dog, but Forrest is so timid about this sort of thing. He'll just keep looking nice and enticing it with the treat.]

[deniles]

[He planned to do it anyways. So when he sees the dog coming closer to him, he reaches out to grab it, lifting it up. Although it starts yelping, quite loudly (and he looks incredibly disturbed by it's yelping), he starts to move away from the alley.]

Alright, let's give it another treat and return it home.

[clothes_make_the_man]

[Forrest nods, reaching out to let the dog take a treat from his outstretched hand.]

...Good boy. It's all right. We're going to find your owner.

[deniles]

Do you know where it's owner is?

[The dog takes the treat and wags it's tail, forcing Niles to move his head so he doesn't get smacked.]

[clothes_make_the_man]

She lives just across town. It won't take long to get him there.

[deniles]

Alright.

[He adjusts himself.]

Maybe next time, we don't take a dog prayer?
