Who: Axel (
doestheickyjobs) and you!
What: He's been hanging out on the Near Shore on his own, trying to get a taste of this world. Turns out the world... or, at least, the ayakashi... sometimes want a taste of him back.
When: March 24 /25, evenings - each different thread will be a different ayakashi encounter.
Where: In and around Tokyo.
Warnings: Violence, possible injury.
[And it had started out as such a nice, quiet day.
He'd been hanging out here, on a bridge over a set of rushing train tracks, watching the sun slip behind the artificial horizon of the buildings and light them with red and purple that glinted off the facets of every mirrored window. He likes sunsets: if there's a reason for it, buried somewhere back in the past he can't remember, he'll leave it forgotten, but he still likes sunsets. He's been coming down to the Near Shore to watch them when he can.
Mostly it hasn't been a problem. Today, as the last bits of light started to fade into blue shadow, something grabbed his foot.
At least this ayakashi wasn't giving him trouble by going after mortals: Axel still wasn't totally sure how he'd deal with that, what with the humans not noticing him there unless he actually punched them, and forgetting about it even if he did. No, this one wants him. It's all whippy legs and tiny claws, and three times his size with a bloated body that's broken out in sickly yellow and red eyes like the horror movie version of a teenage acne attack, and it keeps mumbling about how nice he smells, in this high, cracking voice.]
Get out of here!
[A sizzling line of flame springs up, but the ayakashi steps through it like it's not there, and Axel scrambles backwards, swearing. There are humans around, coming home from work or crawling the bars, and they're scattering from the flames as shouts start to go up.
Well, fuck. Axel flings another handful of fire at the ayakashi, hitting it on an eye. It blinks away redness with a weird vertical eyelid, and stretches out a leg, crooning, "Tasty...."
This just isn't his night.]

Your shinki's got a real friendly nature, doesn't he?

He definitely makes sure I'm never bored~! And I think we could use a distraction too, if you're willing to provide one.
[Then he turns to Hibari and his smile fades away. This is the first time they'll be doing this since Hibari died and forgot everything, but Ren still clearly remembers his original reaction to it. No doubt a lot of it had been because he hadn't known it was coming, but he didn't think that had been all of it.
And there's a lot he would say if it was only the two of them standing here. But Hibari would hate hearing any of it even then, much less in front of someone else. So he finally just nods and holds his hands open.]
I'll turn you back the second we're done. Kumoki!

He was a pair of tonfas, wasn't he? And that had been his vessel name. And now he couldn't move, and was in someone else's hands and it-Ren would probably feel a sharp rise in panic, only to be suddenly curbed as the ayakashi made a roar and reached its hands out for the god.
He'd have to deal with this to kill this stupid thing, and as much as he hated it, he was practically pulling Ren forwards towards the monster.]
Well? Don't tell me you suddenly got cold feet.

He's not sure what "smells good" is supposed to mean, but boy, is it ever getting creepy.
The more it turns away from the redheaded god and his shinki, though, the clearer shot they'll have at it, so Axel keeps moving, hitting it with attacks whose singeing barely lasts before the creature's gelatinous flesh seals the wounds over.]

Letting the other red-head have a couple seconds' head start on distracting the ayakashi couldn't hurt either.]
All right, I'm going. [He tightens his grip on the tonfa in his hands (at least he's holding them correctly from the start this time) and dashes forward, aiming to strike at it nearly opposite the flashes of fire.] Tell me if you feel any weakness when you hit it, Hi-kun. And keep your focus on it and not me.
[He's not sure that request will do any good, but he had to try, since it will be blatantly obvious this isn't something he's used to as soon as he starts hitting his target. But he is at least swinging his arms the right way this time, and he hadn't kept it secret either.]

So he just focused right now on the fact that now he had the chance to finally bite something to death, even if his god was...]
Were you always this terrible at fighting??
[The crude way he was being thrown around was almost distracting him from what Ren told him not to do. After all, he was Hibari-and this was not an enemy he would be proud to even budge an inch to. How could he focus like that?
Even so, with each hit his imagined fangs bit deep and if he remembered the other fight, he would think that this ayakashi didn't have as thick skin. He did, however, attempt to jerk his god to the side when the thing tried to swat at them for being a nuisance.]
You're not letting me do enough damage.

[Axel sends up a swift lash of flame to lick at the ayakashi's eyes, and it rounds on him again, turning away from Ren and the other shinki. He's just got to keep its attention, and that's getting tough when Ren's landing blows that do some real damage on its other side. He darts in, under its nose, and then leaps back as a dripping mouth descends fumbling towards his head.]
Hurry things up over there! I don't know how long I can keep it busy!
