Summary: Heaven is throwing a small party to view the sakura and let everyone relax.



After the absolute disaster that happened with handing out chocolates, the Heavens are tripping over themselves to make up for their inability to properly handle the situation. They are eager to make amends and assure everyone that they are hardworking individuals who want nothing more than to make everyone's stay here enjoyable or at least pleasant. To that end, they have invited all of the gods and shinki to a lovely flower viewing, since the sakura are in season.

And by 'invited', they mean 'mandatory', of course. You will accept their apology, whether you like it or not.

It's not all bad, though. The Heavens have provided various kimonos that can be worn, if you haven't brought your own, but you're not required to wear a kimono. They would, however, really like it if you did wear them. It's very traditionally Japanese, after all.

The party is taking place at night so that you can all hide your merrymaking from the Near Shore residents and also because the night sky is beautiful against the cherry blossoms. So try to at least enjoy yourselves while you're here.



Banquet

Every kind of food imaginable is available for your eating pleasure. On top of that, there are dozens of different kinds of desserts ready to be devoured as well. For the older crowd, booze has been provided and is being served by white-clad shinki bearing the golden chrysanthemum of Amaterasu. They are, however, refusing to serve alcohol to anyone who looks too young to drink, sorry guys.

Cherry Blossoms

The blossoms are absolutely gorgeous this year, and they are at the peak of their blooming right now. Nearly every single bud has bloomed and the pink petals are floating by everywhere you go. There is an ethereal light emanating from each of the trees, lighting up the area with a soft, pink light, yet it doesn't seem to be drowning out the brightness of the stars at all. It really is the most beautiful cherry blossom viewing anyone could ever hope for.

"Secret" Corner

Somehow, the Heavens have managed to make one small corner of the grotto into a completely secluded area. There is no marking or signs to indicate what this corner should be used for, but anyone entering it will suddenly realize that this is a place for lovers to meet privately. Only those that you enter the corner with will be able to notice your presence, and you will be unable to notice anyone else's presence as well. Enjoy yourselves, young ones!

Counselling

Off to the side, there is a tiny table set up with a small, nicely written sign that reads "Gentle Counselling". On the other side of the table is a sweetly smiling shinki who is willing to listen to your problems and answer any questions you might have. She is also here to help out any gods that are having a hard time dealing with knowing about how their shinki died and any shinki that is having trouble coming to terms with the fact that they are dead. Counselling will also gladly be offered to anyone who is still pissed off or upset in any way about what happened after White Day.

It's kinda weird man. "'Cause that's what it sounds like." He shrugs, "You do you, but it's kinda weird to hear it coming out of a... teenager?" He's pretty sure older people are more likely to laugh like that. Actual mad scientists, for example.

He doesn't know how old Add is. He's not even really sure of how old he is. Memory loss is going to be weird, he's sure of it.

Hey Add, how fast are you? Because Ekko is quick. He'll notice that Add's trying to gun for his dessert and try to throw him off by grabbing for another piece of fruit and picking up another, the one he actually wanted.

His reflexes are good, but he doesn't expect Ekko to catch on so soon. They both end up with their own piece of fruit. Add didn't even want that stupid fruit. He scowls, a thin spark of light shooting off his left eye.

"And what's that supposed to mean? I doubt you're any older than I am." That's... that's a counterpoint to this, right? He's still not entirely sure what this guy means by that. Is he calling Add immature? Is that what it's about?

If he knew he was being compared to a mad scientist, though, he'd probably get offended. Maybe he's an aspiring mad scientist! It's good to start practising while you're young, right? He'll have the best maniacal laugh once he's older!!

"You should watch what you say, brat," he adds with a scoff, tossing the slice of pineapple over his shoulder. "You wouldn't want to make enemies with the wrong person."

Ekko watches Add spark with some interest before eating his slice of apple.

"I have no idea how old I'm supposed to be." That's not much of a counterpoint, but hell, the only think he's got to go on is his name. Which really doesn't sound like a real name, but whatever, he can deal. It's what he remembers so he's going to keep it.

"Riiiiight, you calling yourself powerful?" Not even a hint of fear on this kid's face. "Gonna go after me just because I think your laugh is weird? I didn't think anybody would be that sensitive."

"Shinki, then." Unless there's a god running around who doesn't even know how old he is. It's a fifty-fifty guess either way.

This guy certainly doesn't intimidate easily... but Add isn't in much of a position to make threats, so he's not about to push it. If he actually ended up in a fight again that would just be embarrassing. He grumbles, reaching across the table to go back to his cupcake platter.

"You're not worth the effort," he mutters in a totally believable tone that doesn't just sound like he wants to drop the subject. He can dream. "If you're looking for an oversensitive lunatic, go bother a guy named Hibari. I'm sure he'd love to hear what you think of him."

[chronobreak]

"Yep." He has no reason to go concealing that information.

He'll pick out more fruits to eat and raise an eyebrow at that tone.

"Sure. Whatever helps you sleep at night." He shrugs, it's not like he was really looking for a fight as soon as he showed up here.

"Nah, I'll take a pass."

[subtract]

He clicks his tongue. This guy is no fun at all. Well, at least he isn't being an ass about it, either...

"Consider that your free piece of advice, then," he decides to add. He has no idea how new this guy is or if he's already run into Hibari himself, but he might as well share anyway. Fuck Hibari.

"How long have you been here?"

[chronobreak]

"New arrival. Take it you've been here longer though if you know the people who'll fight in a second."

It'd probably useful to have a list of all the people who are easily provoked into fighting.

[subtract]

"New arrival as in...?" he asks, trailing off a bit. Add doesn't really think of himself as an established shinki in this place, but... "Less than a week? That would make me your senior, then. Show a little more respect."

He's definitely not going to mention that he got into that big fight on his first day, though. That would just leave a poor impression.

[chronobreak]

"As in today." Ekko knows he's brand new, but he quirks up an eyebrow when Add says to show respect. "I don't have a reason to show you much more respect." And that demand rakes on his nerves.

"I'm Hermes' shinki, and his only one. If you were also his maybe I'd be more inclined."

[subtract]

He snickers, but doesn't push it any more than that. Maybe this guy isn't so much for fun, but he does seem a bit interesting...

"Hermes, is it?" Something to file away for later. Could be useful. "No, I work under a different god. I take it you've met yours already, then? What do you think of this place so far?"

[chronobreak]

He shrugs and just seems unruffled for the moment.

"Yeah, guy in a black catsuit." There's a pause as he considers his situation. "Guess it's better than ceasing to exist entirely. At least I'm still around to do things, even if people on the Near Shore don't notice us much." He's not particularly upset about that though.

[subtract]

"Anything would be better than ceasing to exist, I imagine, but it doesn't make for very insightful commentary. There isn't anything else you might prefer over being a god's tool?"

The way he says it, it's pretty obvious he doesn't think too highly of the gods here or the idea of "serving" them.

[chronobreak]

"Bein' a god myself, maybe? Not dying would be at the top though."

He doesn't have much of an opinion on Sonic just yet, but they've just met. He does think the catsuit isn't that ninja-like though.

[subtract]

"You're not a very ambitious person, are you?"

Someone who doesn't seem to really care what they're doing as long as it's something. A job like this is probably more suited to his type than it is Add...

"Mm, but I suppose that's not a bad thing," he adds to that thought, still smiling away. "Simple-minded people don't have to struggle to find satisfaction. I imagine you'll have no trouble fitting in here."

[chronobreak]

"I don't exactly have memories of whatever I was dedicated to before I died." But he feels like he had something driving him.

He likes fighting, he likes making things, either one would be fine as long as his hands are busy.

Ekko laughs at the simple-minded comment. Hell no, he's no simpleton. "Simple-minded, huh? Well, this simple-minded shinki just tricked you into picking fruit you didn't want. How's that feel?"

[subtract]

"Mildly annoying," he replies just a little too quickly. "Too bad intelligence isn't based on reflexes." And with that, he'll also take a moment to very pointedly pick up one of those fruits again and pop it into his mouth. See?? Very intentional. He's not salty at all.

Pineapple still isn't really his favourite, though...

"... Mm, anyway—" he almost forgot why he bothered this kid in the first place— "you still tested the platter first, so I got what I wanted, kekekeke. I suppose you wouldn't know that last time the Heavens handed out free food like this, it ended up being poisoned."

[chronobreak]

He still chuckles. Man, it's like Add is just trying to talk himself into being right about this stuff. Which, considering the way he's been acting so far, seems pretty likely.

"You're talking about the chocolate incident, right?" He raises a brow as he picks out some strawberries. "Heard you guys weren't supposed to eat that one though."
