Summary: Heaven is throwing a small party to view the sakura and let everyone relax.



After the absolute disaster that happened with handing out chocolates, the Heavens are tripping over themselves to make up for their inability to properly handle the situation. They are eager to make amends and assure everyone that they are hardworking individuals who want nothing more than to make everyone's stay here enjoyable or at least pleasant. To that end, they have invited all of the gods and shinki to a lovely flower viewing, since the sakura are in season.

And by 'invited', they mean 'mandatory', of course. You will accept their apology, whether you like it or not.

It's not all bad, though. The Heavens have provided various kimonos that can be worn, if you haven't brought your own, but you're not required to wear a kimono. They would, however, really like it if you did wear them. It's very traditionally Japanese, after all.

The party is taking place at night so that you can all hide your merrymaking from the Near Shore residents and also because the night sky is beautiful against the cherry blossoms. So try to at least enjoy yourselves while you're here.



Banquet

Every kind of food imaginable is available for your eating pleasure. On top of that, there are dozens of different kinds of desserts ready to be devoured as well. For the older crowd, booze has been provided and is being served by white-clad shinki bearing the golden chrysanthemum of Amaterasu. They are, however, refusing to serve alcohol to anyone who looks too young to drink, sorry guys.

Cherry Blossoms

The blossoms are absolutely gorgeous this year, and they are at the peak of their blooming right now. Nearly every single bud has bloomed and the pink petals are floating by everywhere you go. There is an ethereal light emanating from each of the trees, lighting up the area with a soft, pink light, yet it doesn't seem to be drowning out the brightness of the stars at all. It really is the most beautiful cherry blossom viewing anyone could ever hope for.

"Secret" Corner

Somehow, the Heavens have managed to make one small corner of the grotto into a completely secluded area. There is no marking or signs to indicate what this corner should be used for, but anyone entering it will suddenly realize that this is a place for lovers to meet privately. Only those that you enter the corner with will be able to notice your presence, and you will be unable to notice anyone else's presence as well. Enjoy yourselves, young ones!

Counselling

Off to the side, there is a tiny table set up with a small, nicely written sign that reads "Gentle Counselling". On the other side of the table is a sweetly smiling shinki who is willing to listen to your problems and answer any questions you might have. She is also here to help out any gods that are having a hard time dealing with knowing about how their shinki died and any shinki that is having trouble coming to terms with the fact that they are dead. Counselling will also gladly be offered to anyone who is still pissed off or upset in any way about what happened after White Day.

He notices half of a very familiar cake sitting on Sonic's plate before he notices his knife is now cutting through a pile of mochi. He's taken aback for a second, looking between the two plates in confusion.

... That's completely unfair. Teleportation? What kind of bullshit power is that?

He scoffs, reaching across to roughly hack off a small slice of his cake from Sonic's plate anyway. Screw you, thief god. Add takes what he wants, too.

"A god of thieves, yet you still ask before taking something. How very polite of you."

Sonic could have stopped Add if he wanted, but Add's huffiness is amusing enough that he just lets it happen. He doesn't actually need that much cake anyway.

"Stealing is only easier than asking for permission when you're not likely to get caught," he shrugs, stabbing a fork into the cake. He stuffs it into his mouth with a happy hum, his eyes going half-closed. "Not that I'm caught, mind you, but you are sitting right in front of me. It's just good manners."

It's hard to call them good manners when he went ahead and stole the cake anyway. Add continues to frown, but if he can still have his twice-stolen cake slice, he'll remain content for now. He'll let it slide this time.

He doesn't actually have any space left on his plate to put down this cake slice, though... He nudges the mochi pile into a taller stack with his fork, still holding the cake-bearing knife awkwardly. This is too much work for one slice of cake.

"I wasn't aware that was something thieves cared about, but no matter. Does the god of thieves have a name?"

"What, you've never heard of honor among thieves?" Granted, what happened here was nothing like that, but it sounded good. "Thievery is not all epic heists or slight of hand; sometimes, it's just a matter of talking someone into giving you what you want. Being polite can go a long way towards endearing someone to you, which makes the actual theft easier."

"I am Hermes."

"I'm not endeared," he states flatly. Wouldn't honour among thieves require Add to also be a thief in this situation? That cake was free game, it's not like there's a "one slice per customer" rule.

... that name is familiar, though. Where did he hear it before?

Add pauses, then leans over in his seat to get a better look at Sonic's clothing.

"Black catsuit guy?" That new shinki's god? He's pretty sure he said his name was Hermes, anyway. But if the shinki is a new arrival... "How long have you been an acting god in this world?"

Well. That wasn't a wrong description, even if he was in a kimono now.

"I do have a uniform that could be described as a black catsuit, yes," he replies slowly, his brow furrowing as he tries to think who would know that. Had he changed into the kimono before or after meeting Ekko..? "How long has this party been going?"

Sorry, Sonic, Add is busy imagining a very different kind of "catsuit". He's a little disappointed not to see a tail poking out from under his kimono... maybe another time...

He drifts back to attention after the question, though, pausing to look up at the sky. It does appear to be darker. Not that that says much, unfortunately.

"Maybe a few hours...? I haven't really been keeping track. I'm only here until my god decides to leave, so it doesn't really matter to me," he says with a light shrug. He also takes a bite of cake off his fork, finally.

... Ah, wait. He's totally heard this one before. "Let me guess—you've only been a god since this party began?"

Don't tell anyone, Add, but he totally had a cat kigurumi back home. It doesn't see a lot of use, since it's so indulgently comfortable, but it was great for when he was stuck at home because he did something stupid and got himself injured.

"A little bit before it, but yes." He shrugs, squishing one of his mochi before popping it into his mouth. "Haven't even had a chance to get a real feel for who I'm supposed to be."

He makes a quiet sound of acknowledgement, filing that information away for later. So the timing coincided with the Heavens' party, not unlike his own arrival shortly before the chocolates were to be distributed... perhaps it's not a coincidence, but intentional? He'll need to ask around about that, maybe.

"Who you're supposed to be?" he echoes back, raising an eyebrow. "You still have your memories, don't you? If you're talking about whatever god you're replacing, I don't think it really matters. Ask another god about it if you're so concerned. You still have a better 'feel' for yourself than most around here."

He's not particularly offended, but it's amusing to hear someone talk about not knowing their identity when compared to all the shinki running around. Too bad Google doesn't work on past lives like it does for deities.

"Having my memories does not mean I am not capable of having an identity crisis," Sonic huffs, crossing his arms over his chest and holding his head up high, as if insecurity was something to be proud of. "Questioning one's place in society is a completely normal thing for humans to do, especially when they've moved from one set of cultural expectations to another. I understand that you may have it harder, but that does not mean you are the only one suffering."

"Besides, as I JUST finished saying, I have only been here for a brief time. I haven't gotten the chance to speak to many people yet."

"Kuku, what an odd reason. You're a god now, mortals would bow at your feet on command, does your place in society really matter anymore?" Being a god seems like such a breeze compared to being a shinki. What do they even have to do besides boss their shinki around? They get to be worshipped, cool powers, their own temple to live in...

"I'm just going to do as I please," he adds, taking another large bite of cake. "I don't care what role this place thinks I should have. Even if I can't remember, I still have gut feelings to go on. Perhaps it's because of your memories that you're overthinking it...?"
