[The Heavens are raucous with birdsong. Just when the stupid fireworks stopped keeping her up, the magpies and skylarks started.
Scully is heading along a bucolic cobblestone path lined with gorgeously blooming early-summer flowers breaking into the occasional sneeze (she blames the azaleas) with an extra-large cardboard coffee cup in one hand and the expression of a woman who is seriously going to shoot the first person who says something stupid in her earshot.
No kidding.
Right between the eyes.
She's heading towards Amaterasu's temple. Sure, she hasn't been since the morning after, and sure, the whole place had already been trodden over in the kind of way that would make grown crime scene technicians weep in the rescue attempts, but it's worth going over the area again, she thinks. "It just started by the front door"... all right, yes, magic is an actual possibility that she has to accept, but outside of that, there must be --
An outburst of twittering and squawking doesn't distract her until it's joined by two human voices shouting and she takes a sharp left towards all of the noise. It looks like there's a flock of swallows tucked into a beautiful, multicolored paper net that's tangled in all of their wings and at least half of their feet, trying to escape in all directions while the papercrafting shinki who have been working on it shout in horror.]
Calm down, we can get them out! -- Just --
[-- how do you handle something like this anyway --]
-- just start from one side and lift it up!

[She's lurking along the side of Amaterasu's temple grounds. The smell of smoke still seems to linger on the air here, even with all the cleanup that's been done, but Scully can't find anything useful here along the shrubbery. The ground is trampled. There's no scent of accelerant, no marks of equipment....
This is almost certainly a futile waste of time, and what's worse, she even knows it.
She's still bent over poking at the dirt in a nice pantsuit and businesslike pumps, very intently.
This looks just a little suspicious.]

Some luck, but not too much. I've been categorizing books I've found, some of them haven't been very useful unfortunately.

... Anything about the history of the Heavens? I can't help but think that resources up here would be more reliable than the mythology of the living.

Only one or two books. Otherwise, there's mostly books about other myths. Any other books I try to find on the Heavens seem to have pages missing or just increasingly difficult to find.

Yeah. Mostly anything related to Amaterasu had been censored.

Are they trying to keep Amaterasu from knowing who she previously was?
Or are they trying to hide a substitution? Could Amaterasu be one of the 'newcomers,' too?]
... That's an interesting choice.
[Her phrasing is deliberately cautious. They're standing right outside the burned-out temple, after all. She bites her lip, thinking, and then adds:]
I should stop by the library myself one of these days. Are you there often? Could you show me one of those books?

Ever since he's realized that certain pages or chapters has been torn out from the books, he's been trying to find out more about it.
But Heaven's library seems intent on keeping it away.
Lavi gives a nod.]
Yeah, usually you can find me there. [He gives a nod.] I can....as long as it doesn't disappear, anyway. [The biggest problem with fixing the library: the books just disappear and reappear in some other area.]

[The wind is picking up, just enough to blow a strand of Scully's hair across her face and into her mouth. She tucks it behind one ear with a quick, annoyed motion.]

If it were easy, then there wouldn't be a need for all of this.
[This division between god and shinki; this need to for deference for the older gods. But Lavi doesn't voice any of it out loud.]

[She flashes him a smile, and a firm nod, and turns to head away. There's nothing useful here, and her searching has just served to confirm that. She'll need to find answers somewhere else.]
