Magic Girl Development Project!
Who: Barry Goodman, Hiyoko Tosaka, Izuku Midoriya, Shouto Todoroki, with special guest appearance by Hibiki Shikyoin via robot spygoat
What: Mission #12 in the form of an anime marathon
When: July 5th
Where: Mielikki's Temple
Warnings: Rampant nerdery
[It's almost Tanabata, and the goddess Orihime is getting more and more antsy as the days go by. The word on the street is she needs some help distracting herself while she waits to be reunited with her beloved Hikoboshi. Thankfully, Barry has just the remedy for that - an all night magical girl anime marathon. Tonight happens to be the premiere of the long-awaited Magic Girl Development Planning, so Barry's decided to put together a little viewing party with that and plenty of other classics from his personal collection. If what Orihime needs is for time to pass quickly, this should definitely do the trick. He's lost entire days to this kind of thing before. And Izuku and Shouto are stopping by too, having been interested from before. He's got plenty of junk food set up in the living space of the temple, along with all of his favorite figurines and plushies decorating the area. There's space on the couch, and a couple of beanbag chairs on the floor, too. Barry has definitely gone all out on the prep. And since it's Hiyoko's temple, there will probably be wild bears and elk wandering in and out throughout the night. Don't mind them, they're friendly.]
Hey, thanks for comin'! C'mon in and get comfy, there's plenty of room! The show's startin' soon, and then we'll stay up and watch the classics all night long!

I've been looking forward to it.

[Barry's got a white headband on with 'Survey-chan' hand written on it in kanji, and he's waving a paper fan with the character's face on it. Akiba had a lot of free stuff for this show, apparently.]

tagging with Barry again real quick here to let her in
[Barry springs up from the couch, bedecked in anime weeb gear as he is, throwing open the door with a big friendly smile. Mielikki's temple is really more of a hunting lodge, so it's actually a pretty cozy place.]
Orihime, right? C'mon in! The show's just about to start, and we've got plenty of snacks!
no subject
Thank you for having me. Although you know my name, I do not know yours.
[And she slips off her geta as well. Her socks are noticeably dirty, being lighter colored where the geta straps go, as she tries to drop her skirt back down to cover it up.]

Barry Goodman! Nice to meet ya. This here's Izuku and Shouto, and Hiyoko's around here somewhere. I think she might be off catchin' dinner.
[He waves her inside toward the living room, catching sight of her socks on the way.]
You can take 'em off too if ya want. We're gonna be at it all night, might as well kick your feet up and get comfortable!
[With a laugh, he flops onto a beanbag chair, ceding his spot on the couch to her. She's the ranking goddess here, after all.]
no subject
The more the merrier, supposedly. He wouldn't know, this is his first ever instance of something like this. ]
no subject
It's good to see you again, Lady Orihime.
I hope you have a good time tonight.
no subject
Hiyoko... that must be the goddess of this temple? Surely I must meet her at some point this evening.
[Only proper to meet her host.]
I... wonder about this 'at it' business, Mr. Goodman...
[She casts a worried glance at Izuku since she's met him before.]
What exactly will we be... 'at' all night?
no subject
[Barry laughs as he leans back, relaxing.]
Don't worry about it, though. Here, I even picked up some extra fans. I didn't know which girl you'd like the best, so you can just pick one out later.
[He picks up five more of the free promotional cardboard fans with the main characters' faces on them, spreading them out so she can see. He'll let Izuku do the explaining about what an anime marathon entails, since he's the one she asked.]

Each fan gets a, well, fan of the character they wind up liking. Or think they'll like. It's for the premiere.

a very important thread full of very important happenings
And if he messes up, it'll be funny. This time, she's got both herself and the (newly-repaired) goat cloaked in an illusion of invisibility: herself outside with her laptop, the goat heading into the temple proper to seek out this marathon. Watching people watch something is an absurd way to spend her time, but she's prepared. She brought an insulated pot of tea and a cup. These are also invisible.
This better be amusing given the headache she'll have from maintaining this many moving illusions.
Her agent is dispatched! In rolls the goat. Hibiki takes her first sip of tea. Now, Sparkle Motion. Entertain her. ]
The hunt is on!
Define 'entertain.'Hiyoko was all set to enjoy the marathon with everybirdie else, but just as she's settling into the couch with a bowl of popcorn, something catches her attention.
It's the finely honed senses of the hunter gatherer lifestyle that allows her to pick up on the distinct feeling of being watched. A quick glance around the room reveals nothing.
But no self respecting prey(or rival hunter she's not sure yet) would be caught that easily. And no self respecting huntress would turn away from such a blatant challenge. Her honor, no, the very blood and sweat of her ancestors demands action!
Magical Girl Development Project will have to wait. She hands her popcorn to the person next to her and gives them a serious look.]
Guard that with your life. I must go now, to play the most dangerous game.
[And with one smooth motion, she's off the couch and pulling a hand crafted spear from its place on the wall. With a keen eye she scans the room again, searching for any sign of movement, or anything out of place.]
no subject
Well, in said doorway, there's a weird ripply motion every now and then in the thin air, but that's probably just one's eyes playing tricks. The faint smell of roses and undoctored black tea, noticeable only to those with exceptionally good noses, is one's imagination, too.
Outside, Hibiki takes a sip of her tea. "Magical Girl Development Project," huh? She can't say she's opposed to something leaning that heavily into genre conventions... ]
no subject
Yeah, probably. She'll know when she catches it. This might even be fun...
It takes a few visual sweeps of the room before she catches the ripples. Like a heat haze, but it's not nearly warm enough in here for that.
Instead of heading for the distortion directly, though, the huntress is making the most of her home field advantage. She slips out another door quietly. Mere moments later, she's climbing in a window to approach the distortion from the other side of the door.]
no subject
Except, oh. Another door. Hibiki rotates the goat to see if that door connects to this hallway from anywhere. It looks like it might be a better vantage point. ]
no subject
Closer.....
Clooooseerr...
And once she's close enough, she tosses a handful of dirt into the doorway. This might give her an idea what she'd dealing with.
Or just make whatever it is a little dirty.]
no subject
The dirt is also trundling away from Hiyoko, on its way to the opposite doorway. A new vantage point is definitely necessary. Hibiki could hardly see anything from that other door. ]
no subject
Actually... how do you know when invisible meat is cooked? The difference between rare and well done would be really hard to see.
But whatever. She'll find out once she catches it. Okay, it's heading for the other door, is it? We'll see about that. Hiyoko stalks after her prey, darting between different objects to stay under cover. The couch, the coffee table, a bear...
There are bears sometimes. And she inches ever closer, waiting for it to stop. Then she will pounce!]
no subject
Hibiki brings the spycam to a stop in the other doorway, adjusting a few settings to swivel the lenses in the head upwards. Like this....can she....?
No, there's a body in her way. The goat, having paused, moves again. Suddenly. ]
no subject
Could this be the rare and legendary hover goat??
That she just made up.Eyes locked on the bit of floating dirt, Hiyoko waits for that pause. She tenses to strike. Ah! Wait. It's on the move again. Just what the heck is this thing after??]
