[Of course it does, but this is Forrest, so he feels compelled to comment on it anyway. Knowing a thing or two about Hoshidan customs and how many of them carry over to Japanese ones here, he slips his own shoes off before entering.]
Only something light. I wanted to make sure to catch you before you got too busy with the festival preparations. Breakfast sounds lovely.

This is a lighter garment known as a yukata. It is made of lighter fabric than the kimono area, for breathability in summer months. Noble men and women of all dispositions dislike wearing our full kimono during this time, but it is the way of things in formal settings.
[Mercifully, the festival will go into night-time, so she knows it'll be cooler by the time they expect her to make an appearance.
Her meal is grilled salmon, white rice, miso soup, and strawberries. Thus, for Forrest, she scoops out some of the miso soup for him and offers that, before also giving him a small dish of strawberries like hers. ]

Oh, so that's the difference! I'd heard the word before, but I was never entirely sure. There's a country neighboring mine called Hoshido at home that has many of the same kinds of styles, and I'm only starting to become familiar with how to make them.
[And the food she's serving is familiar to him, too. He's cooked similar things himself before. Miso soup is new, though.]

I wonder if the name has changed lately? I have not visited the Near Shore in so long... Is it not the northernmost prefecture and region of Japan? A large island known for its snowy months?

No, it's definitely not an island country - it has vast land holdings, and neighbors my father's country of birth, the kingdom of Nohr. And I haven't heard much about snowy weather there, except in the mountains.

So many things I have never considered before, without a student... I am capable of making enchanted garments myself, but I did not think it a common power among the gods.

What I would be able to do - for a start, and what I had been expecting when I agreed to an apprenticeship - is at least teach you some of the ways that I have had to build different clothing for different shapes of gods. Another that has come up recently is some of the ingredients I use to enchant clothing at all.
[She holds out her hand forward on the table, a gesture in the same place of conversation that other people might shrug.]
Perhaps if I teach you these methods, something neither of us expect will happen anyway.

No, I've just had a keen interest in making clothing ever since I was a child. Any talent I have now stems simply from a deep personal passion and years of practice.

Perhaps... as you are indeed one of the new gods... you might take on a special project that can test your skills and show me what you are capable of. You may ask for my assistance in enchanting the garment, or garments, but they must be your own design instead of mine.
Your subject... the one I have in mind, anyway, would be the god Fuujin. Create something that might raise his esteem of you.
