That's me. Hi.

[Social politeness, something he's not good at quite yet.]

How're you doing?

[Dust understands that the 'old' gods might have a very different perception of how shinki should behave than the very egalitarian attitudes of the newcomers.]

[Doesn't care, but understands.]

I wanted to understand more about -- your situation. I still don't think it's right.

[Come in he does, though he doesn't make himself comfortable. Dust is acutely aware of the difference between the 'old' gods and the new arrivals, both god and shinki; he can't quite relax in Orihime's presence.]

The way you described it, it sounds like that sentence will never end. I get the impression it's been going on for quite a while.

...at least, as I'd term these things.

Why.

I mean -- I get that you made a mistake, and neglected your duty. But I don't understand what they're thinking, making the punishment so harsh, and apparently never-ending... [Which is enough to start the slow burn of his anger, a fist balled at his side.]

The answers are the answers... whether you tell them to me or not. Unfairness, cruelty, injustice -- they don't stop just because I don't know about them. It isn't the conversation that angers me. It's the situation.

I need to understand if I'm going to do anything about it. [Anger only tempers his resolve.]

Not plans. Just intentions. So far. [Dust folds his arms idly, his head lowering slightly.] If nothing else, seeing something I think is wrong and not doing something about it will just sting my god, so call avoiding that a benefit.

I don't think I'm that rare. If you do... it's because you haven't met too many of the shinki here. The new ones. [Dust's smile is faintly lopsided.] The best appreciation you could give me is to help me, though. Tell me who I should start talking to about this.

Both are good options. I get the feeling this won't be the easiest thing to accomplish. Call it a hunch. [A very good hunch, he well knows, and invites her to laugh at the joke with a smile of his own.]

[Things have changed very rapidly, lately. The gods need to start recognizing that.]

The duty of a shinki is to remind the gods what it is to be human, right? I'm hoping the gods remember that, when I remind them.

[And if they don't listen... Dust hadn't been given strength and ability only to let injustice prevail.]

I don't need to start at the top. Not yet. Maybe if nothing else goes anywhere.

Thanks, Orihime. For telling me where to start.

[Is it weird to thank the person you're doing all this for? Well, Dust doesn't think so, but then again, Dust isn't exactly doing this for Orihime. Yes, he wants to help her, but it's more than just her.]
