[ Choosing to let the matter slide and trying to politely smile despite the three extra sizes his golem seems to grow at that (please don't mind him)—he does blink for a second at that.

Required...? ]

It's alright, Miss Orihime. [ Stepping inside, he does actually remember that he should remove his boots as well. Japan may be dead and a graveyard of akuma in his era, but... he's more well-traveled than he is entirely western in culture and manner. ]

How are you?

[ Conflicted?

He doesn't miss the fidget either, mostly since it wasn't something in her mannerism he was expecting. And it makes him stop and blink for a moment. Miss Orihime, who's so far the only god who's actually registered as godlike to Allen. Which actually means something, given he's the boy who once proclaimed "that's not important to me" when asked if he even believed in God who he supposedly/technically served because of the weapon he was (supposedly) born with. So that actually makes this really important.

It's a moment of humanity. ]

[ ... ]

Isn't it only natural?

[ But it's so very gently and warmly said, cocking his head to the side with a smile. With such absolute, simple certainty it's rhetorical. ]

Even if you help give everyone something to believe in, I think it'd be missing the point if everyone only saw themselves in it. [ It'd defeat the entire meaning. ]

So everyone is wishing for your happiness, too. [ Which is what gives them the hope that they can one day, even if fleetingly, be happy.

It's actually really incredible. ]

Isn't it the least we can do, when you help give so many people hope?

[ His followers?

Admittedly, Allen's a little taken aback for a moment at that. Just since the notion still is... weird at best to him. That it's something he'd have, even if it's to an archangel far more timeless than him that they believe in. And that moreover—if she was asking him that...

...she was different than them? ]

Mn. [ It's said so gently though. The quiet sort of way people do when they speak of something they rarely admit, and there is something terribly sad about his smile too because of that.

Or like there's something bittersweet and nostalgic in it, too. ]

Sometimes. [ A lot. He's Michael, after all. ]

When people want to be heard like that... I think it's because they feel there's nowhere else they can turn. Because what makes people strong—it's always finding something to believe in, even when it's really hard.

Something to give them hope.

[ But he amends, almost as if he's afraid he overspoke. Who's he to know what it's like to be a god, after all? ] At least, that's what I hear.

[ And what begs the question, even if he hesitates to ask out of propriety: ]

That kind of thing... [ It's gentle, taking note of her expression. ] It isn't something you hear, Miss Orihime..?
