May you have the strength
Who: Shizuo and YOU (Along with some things specifically for others)
When: July 11th - 20th (All of OOC May)
Where: Both the Near and Far Shores!
What: After a lot of shit happening, Shizuo's finally working toimprove figure himself out. Maybe get to be a better shinki and less of a hassle to be out with or around. Maybe he'll develop better self esteem, too.
Open A. Take it easy (I'm new) - Near Shore, Izumo's bar 11th-14th
[ Those who normally attend Izumo's bar, most particularly during the day, will either wonder if there's suddenly a work uniform or if an impersonator had been hired. While in a vest and bowtie instead, there was a clear similarity in that this man and the actual owner were both blond, similarly aged and had similar tastes in sunglasses that were worn indoors.
At the beginning of this time period, it was more likely to see the two at the bar together. After that first week of training, Shizuo's left to the day sharks, being alone and managing the bar. When the door opens, he pauses the cleaning to give something close to a proper greeting. ]
Hey- er, welcome. Go ahead and take a seat.
Open B. Sorry, am I intruding? - Far Shore 10th & 11th
[ It turns out that using abandoned temples for a person's own project was a more common thing than he thought. Turns out, one place he walked around was being used as a school! Then some of the simpler and/or grungy temple lands seemed like they had lost their gods as well. One property looked like it was just a really dense forest.
It definitely made things awkward when Shizuo poked on in to scope the area out. ]
Open C. It starts with a crash - Far Shore, abandoned temple 12th and on
[ It was the end of consistently having quiet days if you either stayed or regularly walked by this neglected property. After having found it, this location had quickly become an area where, for a couple hours every day, you could either hear and/or feel the vibration of heavy things hitting the ground. The cloud of dirt getting kicked up into the air was also a rare sight.
Strangely enough, there's no actual equipment on the land. Just a single guy, most likely taking a break, sitting on a half-standing brick fence and taking out a cigarette. Either that or pushing a support pillar back into place to keep the derelict building as close to one piece as was possible at this point. ]
Open D. Puberty was the worst July 16th
[Waking up seemed normal enough, but everything was bigger and he was suddenly twelve. Which maybe he could've dealt with in most situations, but Shizuo was also keenly aware that he really was an adult. Which meant he had to figure out what the hell was going on. Even worse, his teenage goddess was even younger, and there was no way he could responsibly take care of a tiny child. Even younger- especially younger.
Which is why he's going through, trying to figure out who was changed, and seeing if anyone has any clue as to what's going on. While not limited to these areas, he's checking the temples of people he knows, the school, and even seeing if there's people at the park or library (despite having never been to that last one.)
I just wanna know what the hell's going on.
[Being at this age is frustrating as hell. ]
Open E. Even broken, I'll kick your ass July 17th
[ If you're 'lucky' enough to catch him early on the 16th, Shizuo is the image of a broken child. Turns out, as a child, Shizuo was a brunet. Seven years old, with a neck brace, a cast on his arm and having it slung tightly against his chest, this is the epitome of a grumpy child walking through the streets of the Far Shore. Except with the child voice comes a very adult tone and use of words. ]
This really fuckin' sucks!
[ At which point, in the fit of anger, he kicks a nearby tree rather hard. Enough that there's a cracking sound as the tree not only loses the bark in that area but also splinters at the area of impact. However the small boy is very still as a look of dread goes on his face as the pain in his leg leaves him in a kind of shock. ]
Ow. Shit. Fuck.
Open F. I'll remember all of this July 16 & 17th
[The rest of the two days, the biggest change is the ace bandage that's around one of his legs when going around. He's mostly checking places and temples of the people he knew, but as time goes on, there's an issue. Without help, the mess of brown hair just gets more and more unruly.
Even more, there's a bottle of milk in his hand, and after trying for a little bit (and failing, because he can't do anything with one arm without a lot of pain,) he ends up holding the bottle up at the next person he sees. ]
Hey, can you open this for me?
Closed to Sharak
[ It was after a couple of texted photos, finally finding an abandoned temple that seemed to get enough approval, before the plan to get Sharak's help could actually go anywhere. Even before things were done, it looked like the land had its share of problems. The building still had some decent points of framework and walls standing, but there was more than enough sections of rubble and... a boulder against or in a mound of earth? It was definitely a mix of having been through some things and nature taking over.
There was no doubt that people weren't using this land already.
Having already been there to take the pics, it probably doesn't leave the best impression that Shizuo was wearing clothes more set for a casual day than one meant for the serious training that he asked for. (Though he's probably not aware of just how brutal the Sanzo could be.) Which is why, by the time she shows up, he's sitting on the grass, leaning back and enjoying the sun. Though not relaxing to the point that he doesn't recognize Sharak coming up- He's paying enough attention to raise a hand in greeting when she gets to the entrance. ]
Yo. So I'm not sure where to get started on all this, but it seemed like a good enough place.
Semi-closed for Izumo
[ Between 'training' at the bar and Izumo having spent a few days at Yona's temple, a lot of things had come about. Given how easy it was to spend time in silence, just relaxing or taking a nap (as Shizuo was far more likely to do,) there hadn't been many times where the two had actually clashed on anything. Most likely in part with Izumo's experience in handling hot-headed types. Though it was a little more clear that Shizuo had pretty specific triggers to his temper, and that he wasn't someone who itched to fight. That was more a natural reaction.
Then the mention of borderlines came up, which seemed like the second time he ever really heard about it. Which led to now, in one of the bigger open rooms in the temple, where the two blonds were.
Because Shizuo never knew how to make them, which would be bad in the long run. It wasn't hard to guess how easy it was for the guy to go after such things more physically. Which came with its own risks, way beyond breaking things he'd never mean to.
After opening up the outdoor halls to have some cool air running through the place. Being an old fashioned building, this was the best way of cooling off. ]
That should be good enough while doing this... However the hell this is supposed to be done.
Et Al
[ This is a log for all of May. Don't feel bound by what I put up originally. Yona's temple is another good place to start things, or just out on the streets of the Near Shore. ]

Luckily, the subject had changed. ]
Yeah. She's a monk that was brought here as a god, like you were. I met her before we ran into each other.

[ Whatever it meant, she had to go through a lot of work and training. ]
We, uh, only started pretty recently. But yeah. She's helping me figure it out. I'm not really the best student or anything, though, so it's probably just as frustrating to her as it is for me.
[ Because either not making progress (in case of the borderlines with Izumo,) and being unable to figure out that one important step to improving, he's getting more and more pissed off with himself. ]

You have time, Shizuo. And fighting doesn't always come so quick or naturally to everyone. I know it certainly never has for me. When I first started learning to fight, I was abysmal at it. My own teacher always made it seem so effortless and easy and I could barely shoot an arrow more than ten feet in front of me. I'm still not a natural at it, not compared to some. Everything I learned I had to work hard at to do so. I see you doing the same thing here and I don't doubt for a moment that you'll be able to master it.
[ Her lips quirk faintly and she leans in to bump her shoulder against him gently. ] I have every faith in you and I'm proud that you're my shinki. You're my Ryuuki, after all.
no subject
Not in a bad way. This is just that moment where he looks at the whole thing, himself included, and sees how things are. The young girl he was charged with, only knowing about each other as much as they could in this shot time, trying to encourage and make him feel better. Which is certainly embarrassing, as said, but in a heartening way.
Even if he gets a little worried about her bumping her shoulder against him- The man seemed to have an irrational fear of hurting people when they do things and he's not actually moving. ]
Yeah, well I definitely need to work faster to earn that name.
[ He gives the lightest of pats to her head before standing up- offering a hand to the redhead. ]
C'mon, let's head over to the near shore. I'm probably done for the day and if I remember right, you were promised milkshakes.
no subject
You've already earned it, just by being you. Nothing's going to change that. Your place is right here, no matter how fast or how deep you come to understand your strength. Don't feel like you need to rush yourself for my sake. I think we shall manage quite well against anything we come up against.
[ But she gets to her feet, an excited expression coming across her face at the reminder of the promised treat. ]
Milkshakes? You'd like to go today? Are you sure I won't be interrupting your plans? [ Which.... just has her glancing around them sheepishly. ] More than I already have, at least?
no subject
I think I was done when I almost took out that support.
[ Well, not almost. He put it back, at least. ]
We could use the trip to the city, anyway. You'll get to see a lot more new things too.
no subject
Still, she's hardly going to argue with that logic and she casts him an excited smile at the opportunity. ]
I'd love that! Shall we go now? [ She keeps hold of his hand in that case, since she'll need to teleport them there. At least that's one skill she's been getting the hang of. ]
no subject
Go on and I'll lead the rest of the way. It's at a cafe too, so you'll get to try out a bunch of other things.
[ Ever have a parfait, Yona? ]
no subject
She gives his hand a squeeze as she nods. ] Alright! Hold on, then.
[ And with a moment of focused concentration, she teleports them to the Near Shore, onto a quiet back street where there's little traffic to notice their arrival. Not that most mortals noticed them anyway, but she preferred to play it safe. ]
no subject
When they arrive, Shizuo brings them out to the main street to check which spot they landed near. Conveniently enough, because he had a particular cafe in mind... Well, he starts leading Yona down, though not going too far ahead (as there's a lot of things for her to see along the way.) ]
Looks like I'll be able to show you where Izumo's bar is along the way, too. It's not right on the way, but I can point it out.
no subject
Izumo's bar is around here? Oooh! Yes, I'd like to see that!
no subject
Yeah, it'll be down one of the blocks that we pass to get to the cafe.
no subject
no subject
[ Just- the milkshakes, Yona. The cafe. He's been wanting to go there, but hasn't been able to because it's not the kind of place you go into alone.
Maybe you should say that, Shizuo]no subject
Why don't we go get milkshakes and then go visit the bar afterwards? Would that work?
no subject
[ Though he's not sure whether to feel bad for being that obvious, or what really. He'll at least admit why before pulling her away from the bar. ]
There's some places, like this cafe, where it's kinda looked down upon for a guy to go in there alone. It looks kinda shady.
[ And pathetic. ]
no subject
[ Is it like one of those places? But no, those were places where men did go alone, not the opposite. She looks puzzled, trying to wrap her head around what could be 'shady' about a place that sold milkshakes. ]
no subject
[ Even without his memories, he can figure that out because of the era he grew up in. ]
no subject
But you're clearly not that type of person. [ Because isn't that obvious?
Either way, she reaches out to pat his arm. ] Don't worry, we will go get milkshakes and you can accompany me because clearly, it was my idea.
no subject
[ It really didn't matter if how they saw things was true or not. Though he was ready to compromise on this, knowing that if they sat down, he'd really want more than a milkshake. ]
We can probably get them to go and bring them with us to Izumo's before things get too busy.
[ Of course, getting them to go may mean taking advantage that they were of the Far Shore and walking out with them and leaving the money on the table. ]
no subject
[ Enthusiastically, she pushes on ahead down the street before remember she has no idea where they're going. She glances back over her shoulder at him ]
It's down here, yes?
no subject
[ With her excitement, it seems that Shizuo could lead the young goddess to the cafe at his normal pace now. Of course he can do his best to guide her through the flavors and additions- probably sticking to simpler flavors that don't require knowledge of other foods to really enjoy it (looking at you, cheesecake ice cream,) but it's a good way to introduce things like hot fudge and other sorts of toppings.
Of course, he couldn't really resist the buttercream flavored base for a milkshake. When his sweet tooth demands tribute, it's a miracle he didn't try to order half the dessert menu while they were there. (This way we could be on the way to the bar if you'd like.) ]
no subject
This is just as delicious as ice cream! Thank you for bringing me here, Shizuo.
no subject
[ Then again, something that is both sweet and milky is an obvious thing that Shizuo would like. Sure, he can eat a lot for someone so thin, but the guy clearly had favorites.
But now they could walk towards the bar, enjoying their drink/dessert at their leisure. As much as Yona's excitement allowed, of course. ]
