[closed] a tale as old as time
Who: Davesprite and Hikoboshi
When: July 5th
Where: The "Far Far Shore"
What: Davesprite opens up his sporadic courier service once again for a romantic mission from Orihime.
[In all seriousness, Davesprite hadn't been entirely sure how well trying to cross the river was going to go, even while flying. After having watched the bridge on and off for half the night and seen group after group get turned around without even realising, Davesprite just kind of figured the other side of the river was off-limits.
That was until Orihime asked him to deliver a letter, though. Now that opposite river bank had better be getting a whole lot less off-limits as soon as possible. Thankfully, all evidence suggests that they didn't quite prepare for the eventuality of someone with wings making the trip, because while it's a way longer journey than any river should be allowed to be, Davesprite eventually makes it to the other shore.
Orihime had mentioned what sounded like a farm on the other side, so as soon as he catches sight of something that looks close enough to that, he curves his trajectory towards it, skimming close to the tops of the plants as he tries to pick out any signs of life that aren't some now somewhat startled-looking cows.
After that initial pass, he corkscrews off to one side and circles back, calling out over the farm area.]
Yo, I don't know if you're in or out or what the fuck, but I've got a special delivery with Hikoboshi's name on it.

I cannot believe how- well, no, I suppose I can believe how easy that was for you, Mr. Davesprite. It seems to be the easiest thing in the world, crossing that river... for everyone else who has ever lived in the Far Shore, anyway.
[Then she folds her hands in front of her, trying to seem patient - until her excitement gets the better of her.]
But a message in return...?
no subject
Yeah. It wasn't much, he said waiting was nothing now that he knows you're enjoying your work again...and he also asked me to ask you if you'd be willing to tailor some new clothes for him. He said he felt bad asking before because of your situation, but I said you seemed pretty happy with making stuff for the newer gods since they'd been helping you out.
[There's something a bit tentative about that last statement, as if he's not sure if he overstepped, but it's a bit late to worry about that now.]
no subject
And he asked this of you... unable to beseech me to my face.
[She blames herself.]
no subject
I mean...in both of your defense, you'd want to just talk about what you know would make your partner happy if you only see each other once a year, right.
[He thinks. Romantic experience with which to form a foundation for this argument is few and far between for him.]

[She pulls at the sleeves of her kimono.]
I must make him something... spectacular. Even on short notice. For my Hikoboshi, nothing is impossible.
[She looks around like she's contemplating leaving the party this very instant to begin drafting something up.]

If you need anything - supplies, sounding board, whatever - I'm down for it. Making something that good on short notice is going to be way harder without help.
[Not only does he feel obliged now for bringing her the message, but he feels like they both deserve something good. Orihime to feel satisfied with the work, and Hikoboshi to receive something made with care.]
I am afraid you cannot carry me, however. The company would be appreciated. The opinion of a man with regards to clothing for a man is also never unwelcome. Thirdly, you saw him, so I would be remiss in not considering your advice as to his current preferences.
[She hopes he'll follow her, but she does start to walk along the river back to her abode.]

[Trend clothing. It's a thing.]
no subject
I appreciate that.
[Mercifully, her house isn't that far.]
I suppose that sturdy pants and a shirt would be the most sensible thing for all of his work... but perhaps nightclothes as well?
['Second opinion' at least can be started now, while she's walking.]
no subject
Yeah, that's the sort of thing that can wear out pretty quickly because you have to use them all the time. And if he didn't have a shitload of spare time and material to patch with, he might've prioritised his work clothes.
[Since holes in your work outfit would be a bit more pressing than holes in sleeping clothes.]
no subject
I can imagine work clothes being important for someone who does so much physical labor as he does... but I also hope he will be well-rested each morning to return to the fields.
[She's actually smiling as she fondly thinks of her beloved, while the two attires start to take shape.]
no subject
Then yeah, add some sleeping clothes to that. Whatever he's got for winter especially might be pretty threadbare by now. [He'll keep up the train of conversation as long as he needs to, since it seems like it's gotten Orihime into a much better mood for the moment.]
Mission Success
Oh but I have time to make some winter clothes yet, surely... if I can trouble you again in a few weeks, perhaps.
[She looks sheepish but if it were for anyone else other than Hikoboshi she might have held back a bit more. Now that they're in her small sanctuary in all of the Far Shore, she can think ahead more.]
At least this wrap should make it easier to carry back...
[And then she's at a loss for words again, trying to decide how to thank him.]
no subject
The lengthy pause pings Davesprite to the fact that she's kind of missing something here, though, and he takes his focus off the clothing shenanigans to look over at her.]
Is there something up still, or are we good to go.
no subject
[She hands it over and tries to see if she can't touch one of his hands as she gives the parcel over to her delivery bird-boy. She smiles once he has it.]
Please do come see me when you've completed it, though. I'll have a present for you.
no subject
Though Davesprite takes the parcel without issue, he does look a bit perturbed by the mention of a present. Still, it'd be rude as hell to turn her down, so he just nods as he heads back towards the door.]
Sure, shouldn't take me long anyway to go make his night. [With that, he slips outside, setting out to head back over the river.]

no subject
Landing at the door, he knocks a little awkwardly on it.] Spritely delivery service, stopping by to confirm a successful delivery.
Sorry I lost this tag :(
Instead, she is delighted to slide the door open with one hand while holding a traditionally cloth-wrapped gift by its knot in the other.]
I may never be able to thank you enough for your services tonight, Davesprite... but I hope this will be of some small help to you in your further journeys.
no subject
[Since her situation seems pretty bad in general. Davesprite may have to try looking into this at a later date. And while he still looks a bit stumped at the present, he does take it when it's offered.]
Uh, thanks. You didn't have to.
