[After Hawaii, Fuujin, and then a mission with Izumo, Roxas is going to be a homebody for a few days. Meaning catching up on requests and whatever else seems to have not been done, like cleaning, and getting the new soulless shinki to do something other than just... do whatever it is that soulless shinki do.

So with things to do, it was time to not leave home till probably Obon.]

[After doing what he always does before the deer are to be fed, Roxas is in a rather good mood at the moment. Now he's surrounded by the silver furred creatures trying to get him to feed them extra hay and oats. Nearby are two ghostly dogs panting in the growing heat. How ghosts feel heat is still pretty unknown to their owner.

Suddenly, three kittens burst over in from a small walkway leading to the Baldr temple, covered in sand and panicking. They scatter all over the grounds and leave a confused bunch of animals and a god in their wake.]

... G-Good morning?

[ Okay, so... this morning, she'd been taking a walk around the temple. It's a thing she does every morning, in order to clear her head. Sometimes, she even takes a book with her, or a notebook to write down idle thoughts. Sora's temple is beautiful, too. It all works out... but she can't help but feel like she should branch out.

The thing is, she's always nervous about exploring. It's silly in hindsight, maybe, especially when she gets nervous about going to the temple next door. Kairi had been kind to her, and really, it's fine--Sora had said as much. But she still can't shake that nervousness and anxiety. It's not something easily explained; it's just something that is.

Somehow, she'd managed to gather up enough courage to go out. Of course it had to do with kittens; a trio of them, and she'd only meant to go over and say hello. Unfortunately, she'd kicked up a fair bit of sand, and sent them scrambling. Mira being Mira, she'd ended up following the little ones...

Right into the temple next door. ]

W-wait, [ she cries, following them, ] I didn't mean to scare y--

[ ... Oh, hold up. She freezes and her gaze drifts over to Roxas. Demyx's words echo in her memory. The "super grumpy" one. Okay. This is fine. ]

Um-- [ Make a good first impression! ] --hello.

[A girl? Oh! Roxas perks up, giving her a wave.]

You're Mira-[He lets out a soft yelp as one of the stags nuzzles him, gold antlers catching the light and flashing brightly. Whining, he gently pushes its nuzzle down.]-Hey! I'm trying to talk to someone. You guys get fed enough.

[While this is going on, one of the dogs comes over, sniffing at Mira's feet to check her out.]

[ ... "Super grumpy"? She's not sure of that, but she's still a little wary. Best to be wary than completely trusting, right? It's good in theory, maybe, but it probably just makes her seem standoffish... Ugh, she's not sure what to do.

Until the dog sniffs at her. She jumps, and at least she doesn't kick the poor dog. Actually, looking at it, it's really cute? Tentatively, she reaches a hand out for it to sniff. While she does so, she looks back at Roxas. He knows her name, at least, so they're on equal footing. ]

I-- did Sora tell you about me?

[The dog sniffs at her hand before giving it a tentative, and icy cold, lick. Roxas sighs as he comes over and pats the dog on the flank.]

Don't scare people, Komitis. [Komitis wiggles in place as if asking for another pat, which he gets. Since Roxas was now over by the girl, the other pupper decides that it's safe to approach as well, stopping and sitting beside its owner.] Yeah. We talk about everything. He told me he got two new shinki, though... I don't think I'll get a chance to meet that Nari guy. He's not that social, is he?

[ She lets out a quiet squeak, shivering. It's cold! Why is it so cold... Regardless, though, she gives the dog a pat. Cute... ]

No... not really. He leaves the temple for hunting trips, but I think that's about it. [ Another pat, just to give herself something to do. ] It's nice to finally meet you... I've heard a lot about you.

[The dogs are literal ghosts. Literal.]

Huh? Well... Sora has some weird shinki. N-Not you! You're his most normal one. [Not trying to be insulting though.] Nice to meet you, too! And you have?

[ Don't tell her that. ]

... I am? Th-thank you? [ She's getting a little flustered. Compliments? What the heck are those? ] W-well, a few things... from Sora, and Demyx.

[They are good ghosts?]

Well... You actually like him, don't you? [He knows Brandon didn't. Yurick? Who knows. The Nari guy? Well... Another who knows.

He blinks a few times.] Demyx talked about me?

[ Ghosts are spooky scary!! ]

Well... yes. He showed me around the festival when he didn't have to. He's very kind and considerate. [ She nods once. ] I'm very lucky to have him as my god.

[ ... ah. Her cheeks turn even redder. ]

B-briefly, yes.

Sora's always been like that. [No Roxas totally does not have a smitten smile.] He's a really good guy.

[.........]

Did he say something bad?

[ Oh... oh, wow, it's like that. Mira herself blushes a little bit. ]

He is. For a little bit, I thought he was just... mm, I don't know. Being kind for my sake.

[ ... ]

N-no, not... not really...

[ She's such a bad liar. ]

[This guy has got it bad for his boyfriend.]

He's kinder to people he makes friends with or likes, but he's nice to everyone unless they're a villain.

[He sighs softly.]

I won't get mad at you guys.

[Old habits die hard. After a year and some months in Koriko, Roxas was still very set in a routine. Get up before dawn, so roughly about 5am. Get ready for the day. Practice archery after checking the conditions of the grounds over. Feed the various animals around his temple. Take the dogs out for a walk even though ghost dogs don't need it. Come home and start on breakfast for the others in the temple. Then it was time to spend taking care of requests and such from his followers till about 11 am. After that?

Who knows.

Kairi always seemed to be curious about what kind of things Roxas does when not off doing prayers or spending time with people. If she's up that early, she'll definitely see her god in his usual routine.]

[She's only ever been up early enough to see him leave the house or midway through his morning routine a couple of times, and once was to go see Forrest. Since she'd done that for him, she thinks it's only fair - the day after her own Fuujin mission with Riku and Sora - to wake up extra early and offer to help him out. She's not up before him or anything, but she catches up with him by 6am with a wave. She's wearing long bike shorts that go all the way to her knees and a loose skirt over that with a tank top on. Seemed like optimal attire for chores to her. Oh, and Not Sandals.

She manages to catch him by the archery range and isn't even baggy-eyed.]

Morning, Roxas! Can I help today?

[Hearing Kairi's voice, he lowers his bow (that really pretty one he got from Hibiki), and looks over.]

Kairi? What are you doing up?

[Wasn't she going to sleep in after a mission? He knows he tries to. Never successfully.]

Well since I was out so much yesterday and with everything that happened, I wanted to help out a little. You're my friend and this is my home. I want to try to wake up early more often like this.

[She'd been physically exhausted, so she went right to sleep, thus being able to get up a little earlier.]

That's okay, isn't it?

[If for some reason she's bothering him though, she'll try to find another way to 'help' around her home that benefits everyone who lives at the dual temple complex.]

You don't have to... but if you want to, I don't mind.

[He raises the bow again, takes aim, and hits a bulleseye. There's not a small cluster of arrows right in the center of one of the targets.]

I'm done here for now. Wanna help me feed the animals?

Yes, I definitely want to! No have to about it.

[She smiles and applauds when he hits the mark, then laughs again when he mentions the animals.]

I don't suppose any goats have shown up here yet? Goodness there's so many at your god-sister's temple... I keep wondering if they wander too far anytime I pass it.

[She's so honest and earnest that it hurts that she's a shinki sometimes...]

Goats? Uhm... I don't know. I haven't checked. Goats leave pretty obvious marks, though, so I think I would have noticed.

[Taking his gear off, he makes sure it's all stored properly before nodding to Kairi and leading her over to a small shack near the deer feeder.]

In the morning I mix oats with the hay for the deer. They don't graze on the grass as much when you do that.

I know you told me before why you know all this stuff, but I still think it's pretty cool. There's no way Mahou-chan knows this much about her own goats.

[She giggles while following him to the deer feeder, thoroughly amused at the nickname she learned for Hibiki. She's not sure if Roxas knew that nickname for Hibiki, but she figures she'll wait to see his reaction first.

Until then, she's to commit his points about mixing oats and hay for the next time she's out here helping him.]

[The previous three days were sort of a whirl to Sora. A few of them had him running around in his four year old self, and another as someone from his far away future. It's exhausted him, really. Who knew being four again would take so much out of him.

He sleeps deeply as usual, curled against Roxas' side. When he stirs enough to sleepily crack an eye open, he's actually surprised to see Roxas still in bed with him.]

G'morning...

[Or what time is it? Eh. Doesn't matter. He shuts his eyes again.]

[Exhaustion was keeping Roxas in bed as well. When it wasn't running around as his own self taking care of kids, it was his future self doing the same exact thing. So he's more than happy to keep sleeping and staying beside Sora.

The sleepy greeting startles him enough to where he yawns and opens his eyes.]

Hm? It's morning...?

[He doesn't reply at first, sort of drifting off back into a half sleep. He curls an arm around Roxas and snuggles into the warmth of the other and the comfort of the sheets. It doesn't have to be morning, sleep can just happen all day...]

Yeah. Don't get up...

[He scratches lightly at Roxas' arm which feels strange to his hand for a second. Something a little bulky on his ring finger. But he's too drowsy to register it farther than that.]

But... Gotta feed things...

[Like hungry deer and shinki. Maybe the bear... He huffs softly, grabbing for Sora's hand to stop the scratching. It tickles, and that's not allowed.

His thumb hits whatever is on the others hand a few times as he attempts to doze off again.]

... why are you wearing a ring...?

Nah. [Sora murmurs in reply. He knows Roxas has to do that but just a few minutes longer? He brushes his toes against Roxas'.

When Roxas says that he's got a ring on he sleepily opens his eyes and looks. He blinks and then uses his thumb to rub it.]

Uhhh... I dunno.

[Where did it come from?]

[His toes twitch and he huffs again. Sora, stoooop that tickles even more.]

... is it stuck like mine?

[Maybe one day he should get that taken care of. Roxas is suddenly aware of something around his neck. He reaches up and pulls at a chain a bit.]

What's this?

[Cuddler gonna cuddle.]

Hrrhmm...

[Sora leans back onto his back to try and pull the ring off and it pops off like a normal one would. He holds it up to the light for a second. There's something about it that feels familiar so he just... slips it back on.]

Nope. [He glances at Roxas.] Heh, you got one too.

[Seeing that ring on that chain somehow makes Sora's heart flutter. He's not sure why...]

[No, don't go, you're warm!]

Lucky... [Roxas checks the one on the chain, looking at Sora's again.] They match.

[When did this happen?????? And why does he feel so delighted?]

[Did they go to some festival and win some rings or something? Sora can't recall. His brain is all fuzzy when he thinks about it and he's still also very half asleep and drowsy.

He reaches out to touch the other ring and he smiles happily.]

They do! When... When did we get them?

[Matching rings... Sora really likes that. He loves it.]

I don't know... I didn't have it a few days ago....

[Maybe some gift for this world screwing them over the way it did? Roxas loves them too, so that's all that matters.]

If the other one wasn't stuck, I'd wear this one properly.

[He turns the ring over in his fingers and admires it. To him the rings sort of look like matching wedding bands. That realization makes Sora blush, a warmth spreading over his cheeks and ears. Them, married? That's kind of storybook fairy tale but the thought makes him happy. He'd really like something like that, honestly.

He turns onto his side again, cuddling closer to Roxas and moving to press his nose gently into Roxas hair near his ear in a small nuzzle.]

Are we going to keep them?

[He glances down at Roxas' hand.]

We still gotta ask Leo about that.

[If marriage is something that happens to them in the future, Roxas would not complain. He doesn't even think of them as wedding bands at the moment, just matching rings that symbolize the same thing the wristbands do.

He shivers, wrapping an arm around Sora to keep him as close as possible.]

Yeah. They're on us, so they gotta be ours.

[He lifts his hand and stares at the offending ring.]

We do. But not right now. I'll text him tomorrow or something.

[Sora lets out a happy sleepy hum. That sounds good, the rings must be theirs. If they're wedding bands or not, they're there for a reason, he thinks.]

I like that.

[Content as a clam cuddled up against Roxas. As this rate Sora's not gonna let him get up to do any morning chores any time soon.]

I'm still sorry about getting that one stuck on you.

[A happy Sora he'll keep being because Roxas is not getting up since this is much nicer. Deer can eat grass today.]

Gonna keep yours on your finger?

[He shakes his head.]

We didn't know it would do that. It's okay.

[He still feels a little bad about the magic ring but at least Roxas doesn't seem too worried.

He uses his thumb to twirl the ring around his finger. It's an unfamiliar weight but it's also somehow comforting.]

Yeah I think so. It's kinda like a promise. [He mumbles this sleepily.]

[It's upped his speed, and that has come in handy quite a few times.

He watches Sora fiddle with the ring, then takes Sora's hand and kisses the back of it. You're adorable.]

What kind of promise?

[There's a little flutter of his heart at that. He smiles and curls his toes against Roxas' again.]

Hmm... Like... [Sleepy...] The future will happen no matter what.

[Playing footsie, are we? He's too comfortable to try and get away so Sora can keep going without complaint.]

The future....... Like... You becoming a master? [That sounds familiar.]

[Good. Cuddling touches are good. His eyes flutter shut again but he's not completely asleep. A nice comfortable drift between awake and asleep.]

Yeah. And you being there to see it.

[Time to play with Sora's hair since they are both rather content.]

Of course I'd be there!

[There is no way they'll be apart, even in the future. They both would make sure of that.]

[He shivers and nuzzle Roxas again. He's smiling happily.]

I wanna be with you forever.

[That's the real promise.]

[That's just like a puppy... So playing with hair is going to continue.]

You mean it?

[Forever is a really long time, and there's so many things that might happen... but he'll make that promise, too.]

[It feels good!!!]

Hmmhm. If you want to stay too.

[With him. As long as he can stay with Roxas his heart would be happy and whole.]

I'll go where you go.

[Staying here or going back home? As long as Sora wants him there, he'll be beside him.]

[He smiles sleepily. He nuzzle close to press a kiss just under Roxas' ear before he starts drifting off to sleep again.

He'll sleep past noon today probably.]

[There's a soft grumble with that kiss, but no other forms of complaint. He sighs after and settles down to sleep again as well.

Unlike Sora, he might get up in a little while. Kittens will demand to be fed sooner or later.]
