The Far Shore has been dealing with a lot of space-time pulsating through the past week or so and everything is culminating on the night of the 15th, even though the Heavens are preparing for an all-out Obon bash. They had planned to have the celebration on the 15th itself, but Amaterasu asked to postpone a day due to the horrible feeling that is permeating the Far Shore.

And it turns out she was right to postpone everything. In fact, it will have to be postponed another whole month at this rate...



Before

Late in the day on July 15th, the new batch of shinki will arrive to a Far Shore with a thick, tense atmosphere. All night on the 15th it feels like something is about to happen - and it's difficult to tell whether that something will be good or bad. Any attempts to contact the management of the Far Shore have fallen on deaf, slightly harried ears and so everyone is left to their own devices to try and figure out why things are so tense.

July 16

Just after midnight, an explosive shock wave rips through the Far Shore, bringing on the age changes with it. Even the spirits of the Far Shore seem to be affected - for example, the library goblins are either toddling around on wobbly legs or are dragging themselves from place to place and looking decrepit. There are a few gods and shinki that seem to have been exceptions from the change, though it is not clear why.

July 17

Another wave of energy comes in the early morning of the 17th. Fewer people are affected this time and it seems to alter those people's ages a second time. There is no rhyme or reason to who is being affected further. Several of the library goblins have just dropped dead from severe old age. Oops.

Aftermath

Late on the 17th brings about one final burst from the energy that has been plaguing the Far Shore. For a short moment, every new temple glows with a soft light, seeming to beckon to their owners. But the light is gone quickly and everyone will find themselves back to normal with complete memories of everything that happened during their age adventures. The goblins that died, though, are still very dead. Looks like the library will need to get some new help soon.

16th, Artemis' temple
[There is a small, scrawny, scrap of a kid poking his nose anywhere he can find to investigate this totally unfamiliar place. He's doing his best to be quiet and sneaky about it, sort of wanting to find the door out of here because while he's not sure where he's supposed to be, he gets the feeling it's not this place.

All bets, however, are off once he stumbles across the kitchen, looking an awful lot like a person presented with limitless opportunities and no idea on where to start. Let him just... soak this in. A whole kitchen, full of food. Incredible! He's hungry! He's super hungry! Super duper hungry!! But just taking something would be bad, wouldn't it? Not that he doesn't want to but that's surely! not allowed!! Someone help him!!! He's drooling and he doesn't know what to do!!!!]

17th, anywhere outdoors
[Well, it looks like this kid is stuck.... kid-like through the duration of the weirdness. Being inside somehow feels totally overwhelming, however, so he's doing his best to make himself scarce while still sticking as close to the temple as he can. Mostly, Raichi spends the day climbing the trees on the temple grounds, seeing how far out of the grounds he can go before darting back to the relatively familiar boundary, and generally trying to find some way to burn off as much nervous energy as he can.]

Hungry...

[And, you know. Looking for something to eat.]

16th

[Oh look, another confused kid.]

Hello! Are you lost too?

[So small, so confused, so startled when Senri speaks up.]

Ack-! [So much for stealth. Does this other kid live here? Wait, no lost too, he said.] Y-yeah? You know where we are?

Well...

[He shrugs.]

Sort of. A man named Roxas owns this house. He's nice though, so don't worry.

[Oh, he's met the person who owns the house? That's comforting, if only a little, but Raichi still looks awfully wound up.]

Does... he know what we're doing here?

[Because he sure doesn't.]

[ unlike raichi, mei is taking every advantage of exploring this awesome place he's found himself in. it's pretty cool to wander around and just check stuff out, all the places to climb and clamber--though at eleven, mei thinks he's ~*too cool*~ to do a lot of roughhousing--and one of the places he ends up wandering by is semi-near artemis's temple.

he's got a wooden bat slung over both of his shoulders, wrists resting on either edge, and he's even whistling a bit of a tune as he makes his way through the temples. the ground here is pretty even, there's nobody around.. .it's gonna make a great place to practice his swing!

so, yeah. he's totally oblivious (...or ignoring?) the other person right near him as he drops his bag to the ground with a thunk and settles into a lefty batter stance, nice and traditional. ] Two outs, the bases are loaded, and the ace Narumiya comes to the plate...

[ and he gives a swing!

maybe you should come watch or join him? it looks like he might even have two bats! ]

[It's pretty hard to miss the other little kid suddenly invading the temple grounds, but Raichi's really not sure if he should actually be doing anything about it right away. There was another kid inside, after all! Maybe this one should be here, too? So, for a little bit, he watches from his perch up on one of the tree branches he's managed to climb up to.

That... looks like a lot of fun! And he kind of really wants to join in!]

Hey! [Gotta get his attention first!!] What are you doing?

[ mei gets about ten swings in when raichi gets his attention--right when he was getting into the groove! he looks up...and up...and it turns out the person watching him is a monkey?? in a tree.

his nose wrinkles. ] What am I doing? Duh, I'm practicing. You know. Baseball? The greatest sport in the world? Why are you in a tree?

[Baseball, baseball... The greatest sport IN THE WORLD? It must be amazing! Clearly! He can take this other kid's word for it. As for what he's doing up in the tree?]

It's... fun? [He, uh, doesn't sound so sure about that?? But now he want to play along, so he'll drop down to a lower branch on the tree to get a little closer and get a better look at what this other kid is up to.]

So you just swing that?

[It's as Raichi starts to make the decision to dart back to familiar territory that he comes near the school of the Far Shore. Before he can do so, however, a beanie-clad head pokes out from around a tree.]

Where are you going?

[That! Was not what he expected to happen!!]

Ack-!!

[And he nearly topples over his own feet as he skids to a stop in shock.]

Where did you come from?

[Apparently you aren't getting an answer out of him right away, sorry.]

[A silent point to the school building.]

[....Right now, anyway, but since he can't remember where he was before waking up in Lea's temple, it's the best answer he has.]

[That... explains that, at least. In a very literal sense.]

You scared me! [He doesn't sound mad, or outraged, just saying.]

17th

Ffwwaaaa!!

[ You are not the only person up this tree. There was somebody trying to hide in it.

And when she's discovered, she shrieks and starts toppling backwards off her branch. ]

Whoa!!

[He was! Not expecting there to be someone else up here!! The total shock is nearly enough to make him lose his grip, but only nearly.]

What are you do- [WAIT NO SHE'S FALLING?? No time for questions! Only time for quickly reaching out toward her.

Surely this will not end up with both of them plummeting out of the tree.]

[ This frightened little girl also doesn't want to be touched, so yeah, she's flailing when she sees an arm reaching for her. Which might knock her would-be rescuer off-balance too, and....

....yeah, dunno about you, but she's falling out of this tree. ]

[Considering he was already pretty close to losing his own balance completely, it's really not that hard to tip the scales and throw it all off once again. So, uh, have a nice fall, and all that.]

Ack-!

[Down he goes, straight to the ground with an audible 'FWMP!'

17th

[Naoto happens to be walking by, or rather actually underneath the tree Raichi's currently occupying when she hears his voice. She turns about to try and locate where the voice came from, but, seeing no one around, she then looks upwards and spots its source. At first, she almost thinks she should just leave the boy be, but, if he was hungry and alone, Naoto has a hard time turning away from someone in need of help.]

Um, excuse me? Little boy?

Did you say you were hungry?

[Eh? Huh? Is she talking to him...?

He looks a little bewildered, a little surprised, and even looks around for a moment as if there was another little boy up this tree that she could possibly be asking that of.]

... Me?

[Yes! You!!]

[Naoto nods up at him, a soft grin now appearing on her face. Amused at his apparent confusion as to who the question was targeted towards.]

Yes, did you say you were hungry? Do you need something to eat?

Is she really offering him food? What an incredible stroke of luck!!!]

Do you have something? [Because, whatever it is, he'll probably go for it.]

July 17 - Age 4

[Kairi walks outside in the morning to pick some flowers when she spies Raichi.]

Hello - do you want a sandwich?

[If he's hungry...]

[Man it's almost like he wasn't expecting anyone to hear that comment, because he does seem awfully surprised by the sudden offer. But, you know, if she's offering...?]

Eh? Do you have one?

[He will eat it for you if you need him to]

[She nods, then points behind her to the house, bouncing a little in excitement.]

I saw some bread! And some cheese! And some lettuce! And some ... uhm.... ham! I know how to make a sandwich.

[She looks at him again as if trying for confirmation.]

Do you want a sandwich?

[Yes it's a repeated question, oops, bitty.]

[If she's seriously offering, then the fact that the question is a repeat one isn't even going to register for Raichi. He just looks extremely excited at the prospect of getting what sounds like a totally delicious meal.]

Yes!!

[If she's this insistent on offering, it must be okay, right? So, yeah, let him jump on that opportunity!!]
