The Far Shore has been dealing with a lot of space-time pulsating through the past week or so and everything is culminating on the night of the 15th, even though the Heavens are preparing for an all-out Obon bash. They had planned to have the celebration on the 15th itself, but Amaterasu asked to postpone a day due to the horrible feeling that is permeating the Far Shore.

And it turns out she was right to postpone everything. In fact, it will have to be postponed another whole month at this rate...



Before

Late in the day on July 15th, the new batch of shinki will arrive to a Far Shore with a thick, tense atmosphere. All night on the 15th it feels like something is about to happen - and it's difficult to tell whether that something will be good or bad. Any attempts to contact the management of the Far Shore have fallen on deaf, slightly harried ears and so everyone is left to their own devices to try and figure out why things are so tense.

July 16

Just after midnight, an explosive shock wave rips through the Far Shore, bringing on the age changes with it. Even the spirits of the Far Shore seem to be affected - for example, the library goblins are either toddling around on wobbly legs or are dragging themselves from place to place and looking decrepit. There are a few gods and shinki that seem to have been exceptions from the change, though it is not clear why.

July 17

Another wave of energy comes in the early morning of the 17th. Fewer people are affected this time and it seems to alter those people's ages a second time. There is no rhyme or reason to who is being affected further. Several of the library goblins have just dropped dead from severe old age. Oops.

Aftermath

Late on the 17th brings about one final burst from the energy that has been plaguing the Far Shore. For a short moment, every new temple glows with a soft light, seeming to beckon to their owners. But the light is gone quickly and everyone will find themselves back to normal with complete memories of everything that happened during their age adventures. The goblins that died, though, are still very dead. Looks like the library will need to get some new help soon.

[Bad news, Goten- the little boy you're calling to and who was hiding behind a tree watching you? Hiccups in alarm at being approached and starts to bolt for it.]

[What? Why? Why are little kids running away from him??!?]

H-Hey, hold on a second! I'm not trying to scare you, I'm just looking for someone!

[Not really knowing any better or what else to do, Goten tries to make a grab for the boy's arm before he can run away]

[Another hiccup of fright, and a whimper because Goten needs to feel worse about himself, before the kid goes with the tried and true method of dealing with people bigger with him:

He tries to go completely limp.]

[Seriously, his face might hit the floor if Goten doesn't do something.]

[songoten]

[Oh geez what the heck is wrong with you?!

Goten stiffens and instinctively lifts the kid up off the ground by his arm to keep him from hitting the ground.]

Are you okay?! H-Hey... calm down!

[Oh wait, he probably shouldn't be holding him up in the air like that. So he slowly tries to place him down so he can stand on his feet....at least he tries to. He's not letting go though.]

[kokuyoyo]

[He will not calm down excuse you. Or, rather, he'll still stay completely limp as Goten tries to make him stand up, and just stares at him. Tears are already gathering in his eyes, and it seems like he's barely holding back from a wail or sob.]

[What are teenagers, even? Just shorter adults, probably. This kid sure doesn't know, and he's apparently expecting the worst.]

[songoten]

[Why, though?

Goten just...reaches around with his other arm and scoops him up since the kid can't stand on his own]

Hello?

[He's so confused. Someone help him, maybe he should call Izumo]

[Another hiccup and sniffle.]

I.... I don't wanna get hurt...

[Despite the fact that nothing thus far has hinted that he would at all.... but he seems to be taking it as a basic fact that it's gonna happen.]

[songoten]

Uhm, look I'm not going to hurt you. I'm just looking for my god is all.

[Really he has no reason to. Goten tries to offer a smile but it's hard because this kid is so weird. He's never had to deal with anything like this.]

Okay? Uh...where's your temple? Maybe I can take you back there.

[kokuyoyo]

[sounds fake, but ok]

[Rapidly shaking his head, the boy finally starts to try and wiggle out of Goten's grip.]

Don't have that...

[songoten]

[Okay so there is some life to him. He's not trying to hold him against his will so he'll gently set him down.]

Everyone has a temple...or at least one they live in.

[Immediately, he tries to shuffle back, even as he's rapidly shaking his head again.]
