016 | The Good Old Days

Who: Everyone!
What: Ageswapping
When: July 15-17
Where: Everywhere
Summary: A breach in the space-time continuum is messing things up.

Edit: OVERFLOW is here!

The Far Shore has been dealing with a lot of space-time pulsating through the past week or so and everything is culminating on the night of the 15th, even though the Heavens are preparing for an all-out Obon bash. They had planned to have the celebration on the 15th itself, but Amaterasu asked to postpone a day due to the horrible feeling that is permeating the Far Shore.

And it turns out she was right to postpone everything. In fact, it will have to be postponed another whole month at this rate...

Before

Late in the day on July 15th, the new batch of shinki will arrive to a Far Shore with a thick, tense atmosphere. All night on the 15th it feels like something is about to happen - and it's difficult to tell whether that something will be good or bad. Any attempts to contact the management of the Far Shore have fallen on deaf, slightly harried ears and so everyone is left to their own devices to try and figure out why things are so tense.

July 16

Just after midnight, an explosive shock wave rips through the Far Shore, bringing on the age changes with it. Even the spirits of the Far Shore seem to be affected - for example, the library goblins are either toddling around on wobbly legs or are dragging themselves from place to place and looking decrepit. There are a few gods and shinki that seem to have been exceptions from the change, though it is not clear why.

July 17

Another wave of energy comes in the early morning of the 17th. Fewer people are affected this time and it seems to alter those people's ages a second time. There is no rhyme or reason to who is being affected further. Several of the library goblins have just dropped dead from severe old age. Oops.

Aftermath

Late on the 17th brings about one final burst from the energy that has been plaguing the Far Shore. For a short moment, every new temple glows with a soft light, seeming to beckon to their owners. But the light is gone quickly and everyone will find themselves back to normal with complete memories of everything that happened during their age adventures. The goblins that died, though, are still very dead. Looks like the library will need to get some new help soon.

In Summary:
  • Meet the newbies
  • Get aged or de-aged
  • Deal with other too young/too old people
  • Try to handle the consequences
  • Have fun~

I have no idea. It's hard to tell teenage ages.

[Maybe if he didn't fuss with time so much he'd have a normal perspective on aging. Oh well.]

You just got here? ... Man, talk about bad timing. Know who you're partnered up with at least?

Yeah... that figures, though.

[Does it?

[Well, it feels about right for him, at any rate. There's something uncomfortably familiar about it all, like he'd made such a habit of bad luck that it no longer even remotely surprises him. Maybe it went without saying when you were... well, under twenty, at least, and very definitely dead. He's surer about the dead thing than about his age, yeah, that probably figured too.]

I think so. I'm... not really sure what I'm meant to be doing for her, though. She said something about libraries. I don't think I'm good with those. [He shrugs.] Eh, guess I'll get used to it. You?

[He gives a little shrug of his shoulders. Shit happens, and sometimes shit happens to you. There's not too much he can really do about something like that short of apologies, and those won't actually fix anything.]

Eeeh, there are other ways to help out. Probably. Me? I have a clocktower.

Okay, now that's just cool.

[Man, why couldn't he have gotten someone with a clock tower? That... okay, maybe he can at least operate a book, but he's gotta admit it, this guy clearly has style.]

So, you're - man this sounds weird. You're a God, too? Not... the other one?

Yep, got it in one. I'm Chronos in charge of time.

[That's how they put it, anyway.]
irregular: (can't you go to hell for that?)

[personal profile] irregular 2017-05-23 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
So that's why you were asking how old we were meant to be?

[Except... it wasn't quite like that, was it? Now that Ken thinks about it, are-you-meant-to-be-that-age is a bit of a bloody funny question, even for a God of Time.]

Or... is there something else going on here?

Eeeh... There was a weird pulse. People aren't exactly their right ages right now.

But only a couple of them actually realize that.
irregular: (can't you go to hell for that?)

Whoa. That's weird.

[Ken? What you don't know about what counts as weird round here could fill your own personal deity's library.]

I think it's weird. Does that happen a lot?

No, it is weird. I've been here for a while and this is the first time... time's out of order.
