016 | The Good Old Days

Who: Everyone!
What: Ageswapping
When: July 15-17
Where: Everywhere
Summary: A breach in the space-time continuum is messing things up.

Edit: OVERFLOW is here!

The Far Shore has been dealing with a lot of space-time pulsating through the past week or so and everything is culminating on the night of the 15th, even though the Heavens are preparing for an all-out Obon bash. They had planned to have the celebration on the 15th itself, but Amaterasu asked to postpone a day due to the horrible feeling that is permeating the Far Shore.

And it turns out she was right to postpone everything. In fact, it will have to be postponed another whole month at this rate...

Before

Late in the day on July 15th, the new batch of shinki will arrive to a Far Shore with a thick, tense atmosphere. All night on the 15th it feels like something is about to happen - and it's difficult to tell whether that something will be good or bad. Any attempts to contact the management of the Far Shore have fallen on deaf, slightly harried ears and so everyone is left to their own devices to try and figure out why things are so tense.

July 16

Just after midnight, an explosive shock wave rips through the Far Shore, bringing on the age changes with it. Even the spirits of the Far Shore seem to be affected - for example, the library goblins are either toddling around on wobbly legs or are dragging themselves from place to place and looking decrepit. There are a few gods and shinki that seem to have been exceptions from the change, though it is not clear why.

July 17

Another wave of energy comes in the early morning of the 17th. Fewer people are affected this time and it seems to alter those people's ages a second time. There is no rhyme or reason to who is being affected further. Several of the library goblins have just dropped dead from severe old age. Oops.

Aftermath

Late on the 17th brings about one final burst from the energy that has been plaguing the Far Shore. For a short moment, every new temple glows with a soft light, seeming to beckon to their owners. But the light is gone quickly and everyone will find themselves back to normal with complete memories of everything that happened during their age adventures. The goblins that died, though, are still very dead. Looks like the library will need to get some new help soon.

In Summary:
  • Meet the newbies
  • Get aged or de-aged
  • Deal with other too young/too old people
  • Try to handle the consequences
  • Have fun~

C, yep

[A second wave was rather unexpected, and Yukine is still in the throes of not being able to decide on how to feel about it.
On one hand he’s taller (older) again –the same as when he’d eaten that fruit. (He’d measured.) It’s awesome! His voice is even a little deeper this time which is kinda cool. On the other hand, he knows this can’t last. It’s the cruelest tease ever.

His eyes cast down as he walks towards the school he gets greeted by a polite voice that he kinda recognizes- then he really looks at who is talking to him.]

K-Kurosaki-sama? What’s with the sudden being nice? [And then what he actually said catches up to him.]

Huh? What do you mean, you don’t know where this is? We’re near the school. [ (Pardon him for a moment as this doesn’t all quite click together yet.) ]
revolutionfalcon: ((prewar) are you for real)

[The amount of times Shun's heard that by now today shows in the immediate side-eye Yukine gets, though it's not the severe sort Shun is prone to normally so much as just the squint of someone who's seen someone else do something weird. The other two hadn't mentioned anything about him being particularly nice, either, which just makes it weirder.]

I'm not that rude. And I've had this conversation a couple of times today, but even if you say you know me, I don't remember you. I only remember being here since this morning.

[There's some vague feeling of having been here before, but there's so many years between it and now that it's little more than distant deja vu.]

Why are you calling me "Kurosaki-sama", anyway? [Because that's...really not how people usually address him.]
returnedfromtheline: (| feeling like the adult here)

[personal profile] returnedfromtheline 2017-05-19 08:21 am (UTC)(link)
Hah- It’s for sure still you- straight to the facts. And your hair is exactly the same. [Ugh, so this is like what happened to Yato yesterday, huh? What a pain.]

… I guess if you forget everything else, you forget that you’re a god. I call pretty much all the gods with –sama, unless they tell me otherwise.
revolutionfalcon: ((prewar) pleased)

[personal profile] revolutionfalcon 2017-05-19 08:40 am (UTC)(link)
My hair's always been like this. [A serious frown at that, because that's clearly the thing to focus on here. A moment later, though, he moves on.] I just figured it was better for you to know from the start that I wasn't going to know you even if you know me.

[As for the issue of being a god, there's a somewhat awkward smile at that.] No, actually, someone told me earlier. It still doesn't feel real, though. Neither did being told I've been here a few months before now.
returnedfromtheline: (> my new friend)

[personal profile] returnedfromtheline 2017-05-20 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
[Ignoring Kurosaki's frown a laugh bursts from Yukine-]

You just told me that. Not that I doubted you but now I get to see it for myself.

Well, anyway, I'm glad someone else gave you the run down. Whatever's happened, hopefully it won't last long.
But I guarantee it's real. I even have photographic evidence! [And Yukine takes out his phone and opens it to the picture of Kurosaki-sama with the kitten on his head at the cafe.]

This is from about three weeks ago.
revolutionfalcon: ((prewar) are you for real)

[personal profile] revolutionfalcon 2017-05-20 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
At least that should mean you stop making a big deal out of it. [It's not said the same dismissive way as Shun tends towards at his normal age, but rather in a slightly self-conscious one. It just seems weird to have it pointed out like that.

There's a short nod in agreement at hoping it doesn't last long, because there's a whole lot of reasons Shun wants that to be the case. He's a little surprised to hear that Yukine has actual photographic proof, though, and he leans in to look at the picture as soon as it's opened.

...And just keeps staring for a few moments.]
Am I...usually older than this while I'm here? [Weird as hell, but there's at least one other thing about this he feels the need to point out.] Obviously I need to start taking better care of myself, I look like I haven't slept for a week in that photo.

[If only he knew. It's definitely not the only thing about his face and general bearing in that photo that he notices, but he's getting less and less sure he wants to ask for details. Time to skate past that by asking for the obvious and least potentially disturbing one, then.] Why did I have a kitten on my head?
returnedfromtheline: (| temptation)

[personal profile] returnedfromtheline 2017-05-23 08:27 am (UTC)(link)
[Pfft. He’s not making a big deal out of your hair, Kurosaki. Don’t be so self-conscious~

At his comments about the picture Yukine nods, then looks thoughtful as he turns the phone around to flip through the other few pictures he’d taken at that time. Oh, this is a good one with both Kurosaki and Suzugamori in it. He turns it back around to show.]

Yep, you’re older. By a bit. And this is actually the day after you helped rescue Amaterasu-sama from a burning building, so you weren’t really at 100%. Maybe more like 30. [He’d looked and sounded like crap, ok? He’d even said so at the time.]

You had the cat on your head for healing. [He is trying damn hard to keep a straight face after saying that in a matter-of-fact tone. It’d be funny if this Kurosaki believed it, even for a second.]
revolutionfalcon: ((prewar) are you for real)

[personal profile] revolutionfalcon 2017-05-23 09:15 am (UTC)(link)
[That...definitely puts some things into perspective, and possibly explains why he's forgotten everything. He's distracted from that thought by the mention of him saving someone from a burning building, though, and he looks a little surprised at the mention.]

Sounds like I've been busy, but I still should've been resting or something if it was the day after something that serious. [The follow-up remark gets a very definite frown out of him, though, with a touch of incredulity to it.] If you're going to lie, at least make it convincing.

[After that brief side-eying of Yukine, his attention returns to the picture, more specifically the very noticeable and vaguely punkish-looking boy sitting next to him in it.]

Who's the other guy?
returnedfromtheline: (| how much of an idiot is he being this)

[personal profile] returnedfromtheline 2017-05-23 09:29 am (UTC)(link)
Mm. I should take a recording of you telling your future-self to get some rest. Seriously.

Hey, it could have been! You-- he didn't say anything about it other than "I didn't put it there". [Yukine does his best imitation Kurosaki-voice for added effect.] Don't you know? Cat purrs are good for your health.

[Fine, anyway- he taps at the phone.]

That's Suzugamori-sama. He's probably the only guy you'd admit to being your 'friend', so I hope you run into him during all this.
revolutionfalcon: (through the eyes of birdness)

[personal profile] revolutionfalcon 2017-05-23 09:48 am (UTC)(link)
Do I not do it so often that you'd need something like that? [He sounds kind of concerned again now, because that doesn't seem quite right to him. A lot of things about this don't, honestly.

Still, he puts it aside in favour of more frowning, because that was still pretty off the mark as far as he's concerned.]
If it was there for healing, I would've been the one who put it there anyway, so you just defeated your own point.

[Not that he really had one in the first place, but still. Once Yukine identifies the other person in the picture, Shun goes back to eying it, like he might be able to draw something else from it if he looks hard enough.]

Suzugamori, huh... [It's not ringing any bells for him, even though he feels like he should remember if the guy's his friend.] I have plenty of friends. I don't know if any of them are here, but I don't see why he'd be the only one I call that.

[The defensiveness may also be born of it still being really damn weird to hear he should be recognising someone when he absolutely doesn't right now.]
returnedfromtheline: (o huh totally innocent)

[personal profile] returnedfromtheline 2017-05-24 01:10 pm (UTC)(link)
[...? What point did he just defeat on his own?
Anyway, moving on from cats, even though they make a good topic.]

Uh... I couldn't say. [This guy has plenty of friends? And he said it so easily.]

This you is pretty different, that's for sure. But don't worry about it too much. That guy isn't you now, and 'now' is what matters, right?
revolutionfalcon: ((prewar) are you for real)

[personal profile] revolutionfalcon 2017-05-25 06:02 am (UTC)(link)
[Shun doesn't want to worry about it too much, and has been trying not to, but it feels like everything he hears or sees about his older self doesn't line up right, and it's a little bit unsettling. Even so, he relents to Yukine's point, rubbing the back of his neck a little.]

I guess. I just don't want to disappoint anyone who might've been expecting the other guy.

[Even if he still feels like he doesn't really know much about him.] It'd probably make more sense if I remembered...anything here before this morning, but even with everyone telling me I've been here before, nothing's reminding me of it.
