The Far Shore has been dealing with a lot of space-time pulsating through the past week or so and everything is culminating on the night of the 15th, even though the Heavens are preparing for an all-out Obon bash. They had planned to have the celebration on the 15th itself, but Amaterasu asked to postpone a day due to the horrible feeling that is permeating the Far Shore.

And it turns out she was right to postpone everything. In fact, it will have to be postponed another whole month at this rate...



Before

Late in the day on July 15th, the new batch of shinki will arrive to a Far Shore with a thick, tense atmosphere. All night on the 15th it feels like something is about to happen - and it's difficult to tell whether that something will be good or bad. Any attempts to contact the management of the Far Shore have fallen on deaf, slightly harried ears and so everyone is left to their own devices to try and figure out why things are so tense.

July 16

Just after midnight, an explosive shock wave rips through the Far Shore, bringing on the age changes with it. Even the spirits of the Far Shore seem to be affected - for example, the library goblins are either toddling around on wobbly legs or are dragging themselves from place to place and looking decrepit. There are a few gods and shinki that seem to have been exceptions from the change, though it is not clear why.

July 17

Another wave of energy comes in the early morning of the 17th. Fewer people are affected this time and it seems to alter those people's ages a second time. There is no rhyme or reason to who is being affected further. Several of the library goblins have just dropped dead from severe old age. Oops.

Aftermath

Late on the 17th brings about one final burst from the energy that has been plaguing the Far Shore. For a short moment, every new temple glows with a soft light, seeming to beckon to their owners. But the light is gone quickly and everyone will find themselves back to normal with complete memories of everything that happened during their age adventures. The goblins that died, though, are still very dead. Looks like the library will need to get some new help soon.

[That seems to mollify his momentary concern, and he nods confidently.]

Okay, I get it now. And I get why you're so excited about it. It sounds like...a musical amusement park, kind of.

[Which seems like a thing that should have been done before, but hey, at least it sounds like someone's done it.]

Right!

[ You have received enlightenment. You're welcome. ] Isn't that cool?? D'you wanna pretend about going there?

How do we do that, if it's a really big, cool thing like you said? [His pretending skills possibly aren't quite up to pretending something on that scale, but if she has an idea then maybe it'll be fun.]

[kurukuruchan]

[ A CONFIDENT GRIN. ] If you come to the castle, you'll see.

[ she has a plan

her plans, for now until eternity, are good plans ]

[That's pretty mysterious. It's kind of hard not to want to know what she means now.

So after a moment, he nods firmly.] Okay, I'll come. Is it nearby?

[He's tried to keep track of where he's been walking today, but if it's too far out of the way it might make things hard for him.]

[kurukuruchan]

Pretty close. See?

[ There's a purple thing sticking up over those trees over there. ] It's easy to find.

Oh, I see it. [He peers over the trees at the big purple thing in the distance, and decides it seems easy enough to remember to come back to here from there.]

I think that's okay, then. I just didn't want to get lost.

[kurukuruchan]

Then, let's go!

[ HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT GETTING YOUR HAND TAKEN BY A ~GIRL~

[Since Shun has a little sister who he's very used to leading around by the hand, he is remarkably unfazed for a boy his age about having a ~girl~ take his hand. In fact, he barely reacts to it, seemingly prepared to let her lead the way.]

Is that the place you woke up? I woke up in a weird place too.

[kurukuruchan]

Yeah! It's got rides and tea and flowers.

[ All of which are super cool. But now she's curious. Did everybody get a different special castle? ]

What was yours like?

I wonder if all of us woke up in weird places. I've met a bunch of other kids today. [This is apparently something that's going to take serious consideration from tiny Shun.]

Mine was like a big hill, except instead of being full of dirt, it had a house inside. There were also some big birds outside...and flowers too, I guess.

[kurukuruchan]

Maybe everybody has flowers.

[ That makes this a good place. She likes flowers. ]

Do you think the other kids would want to come to the party, too?

[revolutionfalcon]

Maybe they do. I've seen a lot today.

[That makes him think for a moment, but he's distracted by what Hibiki says next, which has him nodding very knowingly.]

I think they would. Everyone likes parties, right?

[kurukuruchan]

Right, right!

[ She was told she is correct. This is a thing that always happens, but feels good every time it happens, anyway. ] Let's invite as many as we see!

[revolutionfalcon]

Okay...but what if we don't see anyone? [This is obviously a Very Serious Concern that must be addressed, judging by the appropriately serious look on Shun's face.] I think a lot of people are kinda...scattered around, I guess. Like, when I see people it's always way after the last person I saw.

[kurukuruchan]

Everybody's separated?

[ This had not occurred to Hibiki, who is always around a lot of people all of the time. She starts to look worried. ] That's...so sad.

[ And, perhaps, all the more reason to hold a tea party? ]

[revolutionfalcon]

I think so, kinda. A lot of people don't seem to know what's going on either. [Neither does he, honestly, but he's just kind of carrying on with things to the best of a kid his age's ability.]

Maybe when they figure it out, everyone can be together again.

[kurukuruchan]

They better figure it out soon...

[ She will trust Them, though, whoever They are. ]

In the meantime, everybody should go to the same place.

[revolutionfalcon]

[That gets a rather thoughtful look onto Shun's face, because it sounds like a pretty big undertaking.] Can we really get everyone to the same place? There might be a lot of people here. I've already met a lot.

[It does sound like it would be good to do, but actually doing it would be a lot harder.]

[kurukuruchan]

It's all right! The castle's big.

[ She's got this. ]

No, I mean finding all the people so we can put them in there.

[Space problem might be solved, but the people-gathering one still isn't.]

[kurukuruchan]

Oh.

[ Hm. Hibiki thinks about it, and then, brightly: ]

That can be your job!
