The Far Shore has been dealing with a lot of space-time pulsating through the past week or so and everything is culminating on the night of the 15th, even though the Heavens are preparing for an all-out Obon bash. They had planned to have the celebration on the 15th itself, but Amaterasu asked to postpone a day due to the horrible feeling that is permeating the Far Shore.

And it turns out she was right to postpone everything. In fact, it will have to be postponed another whole month at this rate...



Before

Late in the day on July 15th, the new batch of shinki will arrive to a Far Shore with a thick, tense atmosphere. All night on the 15th it feels like something is about to happen - and it's difficult to tell whether that something will be good or bad. Any attempts to contact the management of the Far Shore have fallen on deaf, slightly harried ears and so everyone is left to their own devices to try and figure out why things are so tense.

July 16

Just after midnight, an explosive shock wave rips through the Far Shore, bringing on the age changes with it. Even the spirits of the Far Shore seem to be affected - for example, the library goblins are either toddling around on wobbly legs or are dragging themselves from place to place and looking decrepit. There are a few gods and shinki that seem to have been exceptions from the change, though it is not clear why.

July 17

Another wave of energy comes in the early morning of the 17th. Fewer people are affected this time and it seems to alter those people's ages a second time. There is no rhyme or reason to who is being affected further. Several of the library goblins have just dropped dead from severe old age. Oops.

Aftermath

Late on the 17th brings about one final burst from the energy that has been plaguing the Far Shore. For a short moment, every new temple glows with a soft light, seeming to beckon to their owners. But the light is gone quickly and everyone will find themselves back to normal with complete memories of everything that happened during their age adventures. The goblins that died, though, are still very dead. Looks like the library will need to get some new help soon.

They seem to be going that way. [He points to where the line of goblins seem to be heading in the direction.

Cobalt Eagle notices Shun looking at it, however, so it just stares back at him.]

[As Johan points it out, Shun peers over in that direction, like he's trying to see what it is they're heading for.] It must be way away, if I can't see what they're walking to from here...

[Once he turns his attention back, though, Cobalt Eagle is staring, so he elects to stare a bit more.]

Maybe we can ride on Cobalt Eagle to see where they're going! I can have one of my friends carry the goblins, too!

[Sapphire Pegasus might not be all for it, but why not.]

You have other friends than the bird? [Sorry, Johan, Shun's kind of looking around you now to try and spot these other friends. All he can see right now is Cobalt Eagle.]

Will it be okay with both of us riding it?

I do!

[His expression falters a bit. Oh, right. He forgets that other kids can't see the Spirits like he normally does. Cobalt Eagle is the exception since Johan seems to have unconsciously given him a solid form when he woke up.

He looks back at Cobalt Eagle, seeing it nod.]

He says he can.

[The falter in his expression is noticed by the younger Shun, who frowns concernedly for a moment at it. Since Johan doesn't bring it up though, he decides maybe it's one of those things people don't like to talk about.

Instead, he focuses on Cobalt Eagle again once it confirms it can carry both of them, trying not to look to excited about the prospect. He's trying to be responsible.]

Okay, then if your other friend can come and help us with the goblins, I guess that should work.

[rainbowmaster]

[Johan nods, face scrunching up as if he's focusing on something.

But then Sapphire Pegasus appears, it's wings stretching out.

Johan turns to Shun.]

Sapphire Pegasus can carry the goblins. [If. They don't fall off first anyway.]

[The pegasus appearing out of thin air makes Shun's eyes widen excitedly, and he gets very distracted for a moment by circling the monster and looking at it from every angle.]

Your friends are really amazing! They're almost like Duel Monsters... [But those aren't real, as much as he'd like them to be sometimes.

Once that moment is over, though, Shun nods firmly and goes to lead one of the goblins towards Sapphire Pegasus.]

[His eyes widen, momentarily distracted.]

You know about Duel Monsters?!

[That's the best news he's heard all day. But, oh right, he quickly goes to help lead another goblin over to Sapphire Pegasus.]

[revolutionfalcon]

[And that distracts Shun again - it's probably a good thing he's gotten the goblin over to Sapphire Pegasus at that point, and can leave it to awkwardly climb its way up the horse's back.]

You do too? It's really great, I taught my sister how to play and everything!

[He sounds very proud of that, or possibly very proud of his sister for learning it.]

[Johan beams.]

That's so cool! [Look, big bro who teaches sibling to Duel? That's too awesome.]
