The Far Shore has been dealing with a lot of space-time pulsating through the past week or so and everything is culminating on the night of the 15th, even though the Heavens are preparing for an all-out Obon bash. They had planned to have the celebration on the 15th itself, but Amaterasu asked to postpone a day due to the horrible feeling that is permeating the Far Shore.

And it turns out she was right to postpone everything. In fact, it will have to be postponed another whole month at this rate...



Before

Late in the day on July 15th, the new batch of shinki will arrive to a Far Shore with a thick, tense atmosphere. All night on the 15th it feels like something is about to happen - and it's difficult to tell whether that something will be good or bad. Any attempts to contact the management of the Far Shore have fallen on deaf, slightly harried ears and so everyone is left to their own devices to try and figure out why things are so tense.

July 16

Just after midnight, an explosive shock wave rips through the Far Shore, bringing on the age changes with it. Even the spirits of the Far Shore seem to be affected - for example, the library goblins are either toddling around on wobbly legs or are dragging themselves from place to place and looking decrepit. There are a few gods and shinki that seem to have been exceptions from the change, though it is not clear why.

July 17

Another wave of energy comes in the early morning of the 17th. Fewer people are affected this time and it seems to alter those people's ages a second time. There is no rhyme or reason to who is being affected further. Several of the library goblins have just dropped dead from severe old age. Oops.

Aftermath

Late on the 17th brings about one final burst from the energy that has been plaguing the Far Shore. For a short moment, every new temple glows with a soft light, seeming to beckon to their owners. But the light is gone quickly and everyone will find themselves back to normal with complete memories of everything that happened during their age adventures. The goblins that died, though, are still very dead. Looks like the library will need to get some new help soon.

[He fidgets for a moment before hesitantly taking her hand. Just... stay calm, maybe. If he panics too much then this lady probably won't be able to help him as much as she wants to.]

It was... a big place? Like a hotel with lots and lots of empty rooms. And when I went outside there was a bridge.

I see. [That is likely his temple.]

Did you feel a bit scared being alone in such a big, empty place? Or did you only leave there to try and find your mother? [She gives his hand a gentle but reassuring squeeze.]

I believe it would be best if you waited there, but you don't need to return just yet if you don't want to.

There wasn't anything scary about it. [Why would he be scared of empty rooms?] I just wanted to find my mom...

Do you think she'll show up there if I wait?

I’m glad it was not scary for you. I do believe it would be the best place to wait. [She wishes to avoid outright lying, but sometimes a little false hope is necessary.]

I’m afraid that I cannot stay long with you. But I can have someone I know very well stay with you, if you like. She is very good at playing games. Any game you can imagine, she can play it.

[She hopes that sounds enticing to the boy. Although he should be safe in his temple, she worries about leaving him alone.]

[He looks at her oddly for a moment. Why would mom ever be at a place like that? But adults usually know best.]

Are you sure? If you're busy doesn't that mean your friends are gonna be busy too?

That is very kind of you to think about that. Do not worry. She would enjoy being with you far more than idly waiting.

You don’t have to choose about that right now, if you want. First, let’s walk back to that building. Do you remember the way?

...If she's sure.

I think so?

[He'll look at his surroundings for a moment before heading to the left.]

Lead the way, then. [She follows, walking alongside him. The area where the new god’s temples appear seems to have grown exponentially. She hopes that he remembers the way accurately.]

Pardon me a moment while I call her. [And pulling a cellphone from her sleeve she makes the call.]

Hello, Nashinaga. Where are you now? … I see. If you like, there is a young man here with me that would like to spend some time with a talented game-player such as yourself. He quite thoughtfully insists that it only be if you’re sure you want to, however. … [She keeps an eye on Izuku as they walk, amused.] … I thought you would say so.
Once we arrive I shall come and get you from there. It will not be long.

[As she hangs up and slips the phone back into her sleeve she smiles down at the boy.]

She is absolutely certain, and sounds quite excited.

[Oh no there's so much here, now that he's trying to find it instead of just run. These aren't his though... so he'll keep walking forward, listening quietly as Suijin calls her friend.]
