The Far Shore has been dealing with a lot of space-time pulsating through the past week or so and everything is culminating on the night of the 15th, even though the Heavens are preparing for an all-out Obon bash. They had planned to have the celebration on the 15th itself, but Amaterasu asked to postpone a day due to the horrible feeling that is permeating the Far Shore.

And it turns out she was right to postpone everything. In fact, it will have to be postponed another whole month at this rate...



Before

Late in the day on July 15th, the new batch of shinki will arrive to a Far Shore with a thick, tense atmosphere. All night on the 15th it feels like something is about to happen - and it's difficult to tell whether that something will be good or bad. Any attempts to contact the management of the Far Shore have fallen on deaf, slightly harried ears and so everyone is left to their own devices to try and figure out why things are so tense.

July 16

Just after midnight, an explosive shock wave rips through the Far Shore, bringing on the age changes with it. Even the spirits of the Far Shore seem to be affected - for example, the library goblins are either toddling around on wobbly legs or are dragging themselves from place to place and looking decrepit. There are a few gods and shinki that seem to have been exceptions from the change, though it is not clear why.

July 17

Another wave of energy comes in the early morning of the 17th. Fewer people are affected this time and it seems to alter those people's ages a second time. There is no rhyme or reason to who is being affected further. Several of the library goblins have just dropped dead from severe old age. Oops.

Aftermath

Late on the 17th brings about one final burst from the energy that has been plaguing the Far Shore. For a short moment, every new temple glows with a soft light, seeming to beckon to their owners. But the light is gone quickly and everyone will find themselves back to normal with complete memories of everything that happened during their age adventures. The goblins that died, though, are still very dead. Looks like the library will need to get some new help soon.

There's a library here? [Shun sounds curious for a moment, even as he moves away from the dead goblin with Lavi. Still, he glances back at it with a bit of a sympathetic frown.]

I wonder what happened for them to just up and die like that. [It's worrying for a variety of reasons, not least the potential for random dead bodies lying about the place.]

[Lavi nods.]

Lots of those goblins work there.

[He tilts his head, frowning.]

But those goblins were babies yesterday.

[That is, if possible, an even weirder thing to hear looking at this situation, and Shun looks back at the goblin again as if to make sure it hadn't changed ages while his back was turned.]

So something weird happened to all of them...but only some of them died. [Extremely weird. It'd help if Shun had any idea what was going on himself, but he really doesn't.]

There were more of them dying in the library.

[He wonders if he should be bothered by the deaths, but he's more curious than anything.

He peers up at Shun.]

But something felt weird last night.

[That's not a very pleasant mental image, and Shun has to find it a little unsettling how calm this boy is about the fact. Thankfully, he can distract himself from it with that second remark, as he tries to remember feeling anything like that himself.]

Weird how? I'm pretty sure I only got here this morning. [And yet, somewhere in his subconscious, he feels like he remembers the tail end of something strange...]

[Lavi blinks once at him.]

It felt like....[He trails off, frowning a bit. What was the word again?] Some kind of force? Pulse?

[He shakes his head.]

But there's a lot of people I've met who seem to know me even though I just woke up here yesterday.

[Shun thinks on that for a few moments, but no matter how hard he tries, he can't grasp at anything further back than perhaps the very last throes of one.]

I don't remember it well enough to say if I felt it as well. [That's all the answer he really feels satisfied giving there. The other remark is much more relateable, though, and Shun pulls a bit of a face.]

You as well? I've had a few do the same to me today, and I only remember being here since this morning. They said I've been here longer than that.

[A curious look as he gazes up at Shun.]

Do they call you by your name or a different name?

[And as if needing extra explanation:] Because everyone I meet keeps calling me Lavi.

[It makes things confusing for the young shinki.]

They've all called me by my name so far. What's your actual name, if they keep calling you Lavi instead?

[Maybe it's an innocent mistake, if it's something kind of similar to the name they're using. But even if a few people have said it in ways he isn't used to, everyone Shun's met today has still used a name he's familiar with.]

My name is Shaye.

[Not his 'actual' name, but the name he's so used to having at this age.]

[Okay, that's...very different, and Shun looks a little confused by it himself.]

Weird. Everyone's called me either Kurosaki or Shun, so that's just a question of how familiar they are with me even if I don't remember them, not getting anything wrong.

[His face scrunches up a bit.]

It's confusing.
