Summary: A breach in the space-time continuum is messing things up.

The Far Shore has been dealing with a lot of space-time pulsating through the past week or so and everything is culminating on the night of the 15th, even though the Heavens are preparing for an all-out Obon bash. They had planned to have the celebration on the 15th itself, but Amaterasu asked to postpone a day due to the horrible feeling that is permeating the Far Shore.

And it turns out she was right to postpone everything. In fact, it will have to be postponed another whole month at this rate...



Before

Late in the day on July 15th, the new batch of shinki will arrive to a Far Shore with a thick, tense atmosphere. All night on the 15th it feels like something is about to happen - and it's difficult to tell whether that something will be good or bad. Any attempts to contact the management of the Far Shore have fallen on deaf, slightly harried ears and so everyone is left to their own devices to try and figure out why things are so tense.

July 16

Just after midnight, an explosive shock wave rips through the Far Shore, bringing on the age changes with it. Even the spirits of the Far Shore seem to be affected - for example, the library goblins are either toddling around on wobbly legs or are dragging themselves from place to place and looking decrepit. There are a few gods and shinki that seem to have been exceptions from the change, though it is not clear why.

July 17

Another wave of energy comes in the early morning of the 17th. Fewer people are affected this time and it seems to alter those people's ages a second time. There is no rhyme or reason to who is being affected further. Several of the library goblins have just dropped dead from severe old age. Oops.

Aftermath

Late on the 17th brings about one final burst from the energy that has been plaguing the Far Shore. For a short moment, every new temple glows with a soft light, seeming to beckon to their owners. But the light is gone quickly and everyone will find themselves back to normal with complete memories of everything that happened during their age adventures. The goblins that died, though, are still very dead. Looks like the library will need to get some new help soon.

[Leo shakes his head and takes Aymeric's hand to go find a bedroom]

My parents are too busy. My nanny takes care of me, or Camilla if she has time. I like Camilla best, but my nanny's a nice lady.

What's your sister like?

[Leo's eyes light up. He loves talking about his sister. And Xander. They're nice.]

She's older than I am, and she's already learning how to throw axes. She's gonna be a malig knight when she grows up!

Knights can use axes? But I thought they could only use swords and shields!

[Or so he thinks...seriously, they can do that??]

Malig knights can. Dark knights, like what I'm gonna be, can use swords and magic tomes and dark magic. Knights like Xander just use swords, though. They're best with that.

[Funny how things can be when one is younger. They speak of stories of dark knights and how they're wrong in the eyes of the Church but to a six year old, the reasons are weird.]

The adults like to say that dark knights are bad people...but they can't be bad because you want to be one! And you are good!

[Six year olds are simple.]

That's dumb. Just because we use dark magic doesn't make us bad. It just means we use dark magic.

Most of the adults believe it to be bad...I don't understand.

[brynwieldr]

Yeah, well, most of the adults in my life are trying to kill me so maybe don't trust them.

[onedrinkwithme]

[Things to not mention to a six year old: that.]

What?! Why are they trying to do such a thing?!

[brynwieldr]

Because they're my father's other wives and some of their children and they don't like me.

[He says this so matter-of-factly.]

I had to kill someone the other day, you know, even though it upset Mother. He was going to hurt me.

[Concepts such as killing are still foreign to the young elezen. Defeating dragons is one thing but another mortal...they say its wrong to kill others but Leo said this one was going to hurt him.

Defending himself still makes him good, right?]

I...I'm sorry that happened to you.

[brynwieldr]

Don't be. It's going to keep happening, so there's no point in being sorry about it. That's what Mother said, anyway.

[But Leo is ten and he's not very good at hiding his emotions yet and it's clear he's bothered by it.]

[onedrinkwithme]

[What can he do in this situation? He doesn't know anything about hurting others so he really can't say anything to try and make him feel better because he must be sad.

All little Aymeric can do is grip his hand in a firmer squeeze.]

[Leo looks down at their hands]

Are you okay? You squeezed my hand just now.

I'm alright. But you do not seem to be.

[He just wants to help ;;]

[brynwieldr]

Oh.

[Leo blinks]

I'll be okay. I'm ten, I have to be.

[onedrinkwithme]

[Helping? Trying to.]

You're really brave.

I have to be that, too. Otherwise I'll die like my siblings.

[It's really hard to be calm at that. Enough that Aymeric moves closer because what if anymore bad people come to try to hurt him again? Maybe he can bite them as protection? He can't use a sword yet but still...

Don't mind the slight whimper because NO DON'T DIE.]

[He's so cute oh no. Leo just.

Hugs Aymeric. That's what Camilla does when he does something that makes her go "oh you're cute".]
