The Far Shore has been dealing with a lot of space-time pulsating through the past week or so and everything is culminating on the night of the 15th, even though the Heavens are preparing for an all-out Obon bash. They had planned to have the celebration on the 15th itself, but Amaterasu asked to postpone a day due to the horrible feeling that is permeating the Far Shore.

And it turns out she was right to postpone everything. In fact, it will have to be postponed another whole month at this rate...



Before

Late in the day on July 15th, the new batch of shinki will arrive to a Far Shore with a thick, tense atmosphere. All night on the 15th it feels like something is about to happen - and it's difficult to tell whether that something will be good or bad. Any attempts to contact the management of the Far Shore have fallen on deaf, slightly harried ears and so everyone is left to their own devices to try and figure out why things are so tense.

July 16

Just after midnight, an explosive shock wave rips through the Far Shore, bringing on the age changes with it. Even the spirits of the Far Shore seem to be affected - for example, the library goblins are either toddling around on wobbly legs or are dragging themselves from place to place and looking decrepit. There are a few gods and shinki that seem to have been exceptions from the change, though it is not clear why.

July 17

Another wave of energy comes in the early morning of the 17th. Fewer people are affected this time and it seems to alter those people's ages a second time. There is no rhyme or reason to who is being affected further. Several of the library goblins have just dropped dead from severe old age. Oops.

Aftermath

Late on the 17th brings about one final burst from the energy that has been plaguing the Far Shore. For a short moment, every new temple glows with a soft light, seeming to beckon to their owners. But the light is gone quickly and everyone will find themselves back to normal with complete memories of everything that happened during their age adventures. The goblins that died, though, are still very dead. Looks like the library will need to get some new help soon.

...They'll get better...

[Probably? He feels like this is an uncertainty. But there's bubbling amateur knowledge in his head, and he shuffles closer to bestow the blanket all upon her instead. There is absolutely more food somehow stored inside its depths- don't ask how he managed to make it stay in there.]

Hold on.

[And he goes trotting off.]

[After some ten minutes, he's back again carrying an open bento box that's quietly rattling from its contents. While the school may still be in half repair, cooking classes do take place here. He doesn't know that, but he had explored earlier, a little, so.... He offers her some ice in the box.]

Ice. Legs hurt less.

[He feels fairly sure about this.]

[mermaiding]

[She peers into the box and takes the ice in her hands, before immediately back into the box] Cold! [But she reaches for it again, looking pleased before she carefully sets some of the ice to balance on her legs.]

Water? [She's never seen ice before okay SHE DOESN'T KNOW.]

[kokuyoyo]

[Well, she's happy now, so that's what matters, right? He settles down besides her, curling his knees up to his chest and nodding.]

Cold water. Really cold.

[mermaiding]

[Oona hums in agreement, moving the ice around her legs until she's both soaked and parts of her legs have become numb. It doesn't help completely, but Oona feels better at least so, mission accomplished?

She leans against Chikusa with a content little hum, before unceremoniously dropping the remains of the ice into his lap with a mischievous little giggle.]

[kokuyoyo]

[Mission accomplished!]

[At least until Oona drops the ice onto his lap, and he's jerking away with a yelp, clearly frazzled. Immediately, he tries to swat it off.]

What was that for!?

[mermaiding]

[Oona bursts out laughing and claps her hands in delight, before reaching for Chikusa to give him an apology hug and kiss on the cheek if he'll let her.]

Fun! [She giggles more; I mean, it was fun for her] Mad...?

[kokuyoyo]

[He does let her, although he sulks the whole time with a large pout on his face.]

Cold!

[mermaiding]

[Oona scoots herself closer until their sides are pressed together and she can lean against him, pulling the blanket he'd abandoned with her earlier around them both. She's willing to share.]

Warm?

[kokuyoyo]

[For a second, he tries to old onto his sulking, but he is a needy child and also bad at this. After a moment, he huffs and curls up against her, cuddling into the blankets.]

Warm.
