The Far Shore has been dealing with a lot of space-time pulsating through the past week or so and everything is culminating on the night of the 15th, even though the Heavens are preparing for an all-out Obon bash. They had planned to have the celebration on the 15th itself, but Amaterasu asked to postpone a day due to the horrible feeling that is permeating the Far Shore.

And it turns out she was right to postpone everything. In fact, it will have to be postponed another whole month at this rate...



Before

Late in the day on July 15th, the new batch of shinki will arrive to a Far Shore with a thick, tense atmosphere. All night on the 15th it feels like something is about to happen - and it's difficult to tell whether that something will be good or bad. Any attempts to contact the management of the Far Shore have fallen on deaf, slightly harried ears and so everyone is left to their own devices to try and figure out why things are so tense.

July 16

Just after midnight, an explosive shock wave rips through the Far Shore, bringing on the age changes with it. Even the spirits of the Far Shore seem to be affected - for example, the library goblins are either toddling around on wobbly legs or are dragging themselves from place to place and looking decrepit. There are a few gods and shinki that seem to have been exceptions from the change, though it is not clear why.

July 17

Another wave of energy comes in the early morning of the 17th. Fewer people are affected this time and it seems to alter those people's ages a second time. There is no rhyme or reason to who is being affected further. Several of the library goblins have just dropped dead from severe old age. Oops.

Aftermath

Late on the 17th brings about one final burst from the energy that has been plaguing the Far Shore. For a short moment, every new temple glows with a soft light, seeming to beckon to their owners. But the light is gone quickly and everyone will find themselves back to normal with complete memories of everything that happened during their age adventures. The goblins that died, though, are still very dead. Looks like the library will need to get some new help soon.

[Yuto doesn't understand what is happening or where he is. Currently he's about eight years old, clearly lost but he tries very hard to stay strong.

He's looking around and in the end actually tries to catch someone's attention.]

Um, hey...

[He wants to ask how to get home, but where is "home" anyway? Is somebody waiting for him there? He doesn't know. He's just a small, very confused child.

So... help?]

July 17
[At some point during the day, tiny Yuto can be found in the games shop that he has just found. He's not so lost anymore and his eyes seem to be sparkling a little when he looks at all the boxes with board games.]

This one looks so cool... and this, too...

[He takes one of the boxes in his small hands.]

I wonder how you play this...

[Lavi can be seen standing next to Yuto, looking confused at the board games.

They look different than what he's used to--or he wonders would be used to.]

I think there are directions in the box.

[Yuto looks at him, then at the box again.]

We need to buy it first, right?

[Suddenly it's "we".]

We do.

[He wonders if Cardia's given him enough money to buy things.

Lavi would actually be all for stealing, but Yuto doesn't seem to be the type.]

But it might cost too much.

Hi!

[ It's a little girl with a tablet tucked under her arm. ]

Wanna see something cool?

[Yuto blinks a few times when the girl asks him that. Then he takes a moment to think very carefully about it before he nods.]

Um... yeah, sure.

[kurukuruchan]

[ Excellent. But, then again, there's no one who doesn't want to see something cool - especially when she shows them - so it figures.

She pokes at the tablet, hitting the buttons she has already figured out will get her where she wants to go. ] It's neat. This person has the same name....

[ But the video is playing, so she'll be quiet. And expectant.

16th

[The kid Yuto's approaching this time is about the same age as him, looking slightly less lost, but a little worried about something as well. He's pretty sure he knows why another one of the kids here might be trying to talk to him, though, so he puts on a confident smile as if to reassure him.]

Are you lost? I don't really know what's going on either, but it's really cool here, right?

[A remark like that mostly just promises the prospect of getting more lost, but look, he's trying.]

Huh?

[Yuto blinks. He didn't think that this place could be cool... up until now. He looks around.]

It is? [He's still confused but he's interested is piqued.]

Yeah! [Look, Shun's very excited about having this big new place to explore, even if he is also worried about Ruri. He can be both. In any case, he waves a hand in general towards the rest of the Far Shore.]

Have you seen any of the neat buildings yet? The one I woke up in was like a big hill, except made into a house. And it had cool birds around it too.

[It just so happens he asks an even smaller child for help. Here stands four year old Sora looking at Yuto with wide eyes.]

Hey, are you okay??

[Don't cry!!!!!!]

I'm here so you don't need to be alone!

[What was he even thinking when he asked someone younger than him? But Yuto looks a bit surprised by the other kid's words, then he nods firmly.]

Y-yeah, I'm okay!

[And he manages a tiny smile.]

Thanks.

[He's glad he's not alone.]

Are you... lost, too?

Ummm.

[Is he lost?? He's not sure. Sora thinks really hard. And then smiles big.]

I might be!

[Sora why are you so happy about that...?

He reaches out to take Yuto's hand in his.]

We better stick together so we don't get more lost.

July 16 - afternoon-ish

[This late in the day, Yukine is getting the picture. When a small kid with purple-grey eyes (let’s face it, after the paint thing he has a good grasp of Yuto’s eye colour) and spiky purple hair tries getting his attention, he just tries to smile patiently at him.]

Hey, Yuto. By the look on your face you don’t remember me, do you. I’m Yukine. I’m like, a friend of yours from before you lost your memory today. [Nailed that description, yep.] Want me to help you out?

[Yuto blinks at him, his eyes big and surprised that the other knows his name.]

Yukine?

[No, he really doesn't remember anyone called that. Not like he remembers anything anyway. He gives the other a completely lost look.]

...I don't understand, but we're friends? You can help me?

Heh… I bet there’s a whole bunch you don’t understand today. [It… actually must be pretty scary, waking up as a kid in this situation. No matter how temporary it ends up being, he just can’t leave a scared kid alone.]

But yep, I can help. What do you want to do? I mean, I could try to explain what’s going on, but I don’t really know either. So we could just go somewhere to play for a bit and get your mind off stuff…

[In the end he trails off uncertainly, because how to deal with a kid?]

July 17 - Age 4

[Kairi only ends up in the Near Shore thanks to the beach party with Rin, but at least now she knows how to come and go. That's how she walks past Yuto looking at the games.]

Wow... so cool...

[That's mimicking him as much as it being true.]

Are you going to buy one?

[darkduelist]

[He looks at the girl and smiles brightly.]

It really is!

[Then he looks at the box, looking for the price.]

But I don't know how much it costs...

[Can he ask Hajime to buy it for him?]

Hmmm... I don't either.

[She goes around to his other side and points at the door to the shop.]

So that means we should ask an adult.

[Since they have all of the answers.]

July 16

[He manages to catch the attention of someone who's actually a few years older than he is! And he's looking very unsure about things, so Ren makes sure to smile and try to look friendly without being too excitably friendly.]

Hi! Did you need something? You look kind of lost.

[Oh, good! Such a friendly face. Maybe this person will be able to help him?]

I am lost... [He admits with a small frown.] And I don't know what to do. I don't remember anything...

16th

[It's okay Yuto you already have her full attention. Hajime stares down at him, face lighting up as she makes incoherent squealing noise at the sight of her shinki being so ity bitty! She will help you and love you]

Y-Yuto...-chan!

[Yuto takes a step back, somewhat startled by the girl's reaction.]

Y-you know me?

16th

[Riku is only six and has really not much of an idea of where they are in the general scheme of things – they are somewhere Not Destiny Islands, that much he's long figured out – but well... he somewhat remembers the way back to where he first woke up, so that's something at least.]

Hey. You gotten lost?

[That's at least what he's reading off of the other's face.]

[The boy may be younger than Yuto, but at least he looks reliable.
