The Far Shore has been dealing with a lot of space-time pulsating through the past week or so and everything is culminating on the night of the 15th, even though the Heavens are preparing for an all-out Obon bash. They had planned to have the celebration on the 15th itself, but Amaterasu asked to postpone a day due to the horrible feeling that is permeating the Far Shore.

And it turns out she was right to postpone everything. In fact, it will have to be postponed another whole month at this rate...



Before

Late in the day on July 15th, the new batch of shinki will arrive to a Far Shore with a thick, tense atmosphere. All night on the 15th it feels like something is about to happen - and it's difficult to tell whether that something will be good or bad. Any attempts to contact the management of the Far Shore have fallen on deaf, slightly harried ears and so everyone is left to their own devices to try and figure out why things are so tense.

July 16

Just after midnight, an explosive shock wave rips through the Far Shore, bringing on the age changes with it. Even the spirits of the Far Shore seem to be affected - for example, the library goblins are either toddling around on wobbly legs or are dragging themselves from place to place and looking decrepit. There are a few gods and shinki that seem to have been exceptions from the change, though it is not clear why.

July 17

Another wave of energy comes in the early morning of the 17th. Fewer people are affected this time and it seems to alter those people's ages a second time. There is no rhyme or reason to who is being affected further. Several of the library goblins have just dropped dead from severe old age. Oops.

Aftermath

Late on the 17th brings about one final burst from the energy that has been plaguing the Far Shore. For a short moment, every new temple glows with a soft light, seeming to beckon to their owners. But the light is gone quickly and everyone will find themselves back to normal with complete memories of everything that happened during their age adventures. The goblins that died, though, are still very dead. Looks like the library will need to get some new help soon.

Huh? Of course it's me.

[Luckily Yata looks like, well, Yata. He's hard to mistake for anyone else, especially when riding a skate board. He stays floating just above him. His eyes absently look the red head over just in case. Cool, he doesn't look hurt. He knew Yata was tough anyway.]

Who else would I be?

[ Yata sounds exasperated about it, too. ]

At least you're not in diapers. That'd be a little much. What were you even doing?

Why would I be in diapers? That's more likely to happen to you!

[At least from what he's seen, everyone older is going younger and vice versa. He does give a grin though]

I was looking forward to at least patting your head if you turned into a kid, Yata!

[Sadly, he seemed to of missed it. Anyway;]

Training. Or at least trying to get rid of some of my energy. Ever since I turned bigger my body been sort of tingly and I've been having trouble controlling my Chi.

Everyone I've seen so far has gotten younger. You didn't have that much further to go.

[ It's said with a smirk aimed at Goten, but it's still true. Then again, he doesn't know many of the kids other than Goten.

Still, that gets a scoff. ] Your loss. That was yesterday. Surprised you didn't see me, actually. Apparently, little me really enjoyed escaping adults. [ Which should surprise no one. ]

Tingly, huh? [ He squints. ] All over? Or mostly in one spot?

How do you know...? I could just be short for my age.

[ You don't know how old he really is, Yata. He could just be a short teenager and nobody can tell! Gotta have dreams right That aside and all the draw backs, being a real teenager is sort of fun.]

You should let me make up for it.

[He laughs, teasingly reaching just over Yata's head as if to take the chance now. But he stops at the question, blinking owlishly before looking thoughtful.]

Sorta all over. Like I got too much energy or something. I accidentally broke a bunch of stuff at home just trying to pick it up or leaning on it.

[Aymeric is going to be upset with him when he sees that poor kitchen with its broken counter top, crumbled table and all those broken dishes he tried to practice with by just picking them up. That's actually what keeps him from patting Yata on the head.]

It's really weird...

Well. You grew, didn't you? [ There's flaws in your logic, Goten. ]

Huh. Maybe you just need to spend more of it than you normally do? Could be because you're bigger and have more of it now?

So did Sharak, she's like a grandma now. [Shh, let a kid dream, Yata.]

I guess so. That's what I was trying to do before you yelled at me.

[Granted he nearly blasted Yata off his skateboard but details.]

I've been out here all morning, still doesn't feel any better. I think I might just sleep on Nimbus instead of going home if I don't figure it out soon.

[He gives a lazy shrug before looking at Yata again]

What are you doing out here anyway?

Heh. Worried about continuing the trend of blowing up temples?

I was looking to see if I could find any of the others. I changed yesterday but changed back today. Wasn't sure who else had the same thing happen.

I donno about you, but I don't like Izumo mad. If I blow up temples or his bar, he probably will be. Even if it is on accident...

[Goten actually doesn't know what a mad Izumo looks like. He's seen tired and annoyed but mad? It sounds like some myth. He's not really interested in digging into that either.]

Uhhh there's been a lot of people that changed. Izumo is really one of the only people I've seen not affected.

[ Yata can't remember what a mad Izumo looks like, but he still thinks he probably doesn't want to find out. With good reason. Mad Izumo is scary. ]

Yeah, same. One of my friends never changed either, but everyone else... [ He blinks at Goten for a moment. ] Have you heard any reason why? I wasn't really the right age to care yesterday.

[songoten]

uh...no, no idea. Everything been crazy so I don't think anyone has been able to get to the bottom of things, you know? But...it shouldn't be too big a deal if people are changing back.

[He gestures to Yata with a small shrug]

I wouldn't mind staying this big though.
