The Far Shore has been dealing with a lot of space-time pulsating through the past week or so and everything is culminating on the night of the 15th, even though the Heavens are preparing for an all-out Obon bash. They had planned to have the celebration on the 15th itself, but Amaterasu asked to postpone a day due to the horrible feeling that is permeating the Far Shore.

And it turns out she was right to postpone everything. In fact, it will have to be postponed another whole month at this rate...



Before

Late in the day on July 15th, the new batch of shinki will arrive to a Far Shore with a thick, tense atmosphere. All night on the 15th it feels like something is about to happen - and it's difficult to tell whether that something will be good or bad. Any attempts to contact the management of the Far Shore have fallen on deaf, slightly harried ears and so everyone is left to their own devices to try and figure out why things are so tense.

July 16

Just after midnight, an explosive shock wave rips through the Far Shore, bringing on the age changes with it. Even the spirits of the Far Shore seem to be affected - for example, the library goblins are either toddling around on wobbly legs or are dragging themselves from place to place and looking decrepit. There are a few gods and shinki that seem to have been exceptions from the change, though it is not clear why.

July 17

Another wave of energy comes in the early morning of the 17th. Fewer people are affected this time and it seems to alter those people's ages a second time. There is no rhyme or reason to who is being affected further. Several of the library goblins have just dropped dead from severe old age. Oops.

Aftermath

Late on the 17th brings about one final burst from the energy that has been plaguing the Far Shore. For a short moment, every new temple glows with a soft light, seeming to beckon to their owners. But the light is gone quickly and everyone will find themselves back to normal with complete memories of everything that happened during their age adventures. The goblins that died, though, are still very dead. Looks like the library will need to get some new help soon.

[Barry's apparent lack of recognition of her tells Maria all she needs to know about the nature of his change, though it's definitely an...interesting one. She gives him a smile halfway between genuine and amused.]

There seems to be something changing people's ages. I should be twenty-one, for example.

[Glancing down at himself, he pokes at random places on his body as if he's expecting something to happen.]

It did. [There's nothing warning Maria away from telling him what he should already know here, so she figures it's safe - usually the uneasiness of revealing information to shinki emerges in force at even the thought of discussing someone's past with them.]

As I usually know you, you're a few years older. We jointly run a talent agency made up of other performers in the Heavens.

A talent agency, huh? Guess I peaked and quit the band.

[He seems a little disappointed about that, but mostly just thoughtful.]

I imagine so. You're quite a dedicated talent agent, though, I've been impressed with your work.

[It might sound a little odd getting a summation that serious from someone who looks all of maybe fourteen right now, but Maria can't really help that.]

Well, that's good to hear, anyway.

[If a bit awkward. He rubs at the back of his neck, not entirely sure what to think.]

[Maria looks a little sympathetic at the motion - honestly, she can relate there. Especially with Uta standing sentry and supervisor a few feet behind her.]

Don't worry, I think we're all a little confused by this situation. I hope it doesn't last too long, or we're going to have even more of a mess on our hands. And just after the new arrivals, as well...

So, uh... what're we supposed to do while we wait?

Well, most of the young ones seem to be exploring, but I imagine you could just do whatever it is you normally enjoy. You do remember where your god's temple is, right?

[Some people seemed to have not quite realised that was the place they'd woken up, so it's best to make sure, she feels.]

Oh yeah, I can get back there no problem.

[He thinks for a moment, shrugging.]

Guess I'll just practice my guitar for a while.

That's certainly an option, yes. [Maria laughs a little.] I suppose I could still practice singing in this form, but dancing might be a little harder.

[Given her body is completely differently proportioned to what she's used to.]
