The Far Shore has been dealing with a lot of space-time pulsating through the past week or so and everything is culminating on the night of the 15th, even though the Heavens are preparing for an all-out Obon bash. They had planned to have the celebration on the 15th itself, but Amaterasu asked to postpone a day due to the horrible feeling that is permeating the Far Shore.

And it turns out she was right to postpone everything. In fact, it will have to be postponed another whole month at this rate...



Before

Late in the day on July 15th, the new batch of shinki will arrive to a Far Shore with a thick, tense atmosphere. All night on the 15th it feels like something is about to happen - and it's difficult to tell whether that something will be good or bad. Any attempts to contact the management of the Far Shore have fallen on deaf, slightly harried ears and so everyone is left to their own devices to try and figure out why things are so tense.

July 16

Just after midnight, an explosive shock wave rips through the Far Shore, bringing on the age changes with it. Even the spirits of the Far Shore seem to be affected - for example, the library goblins are either toddling around on wobbly legs or are dragging themselves from place to place and looking decrepit. There are a few gods and shinki that seem to have been exceptions from the change, though it is not clear why.

July 17

Another wave of energy comes in the early morning of the 17th. Fewer people are affected this time and it seems to alter those people's ages a second time. There is no rhyme or reason to who is being affected further. Several of the library goblins have just dropped dead from severe old age. Oops.

Aftermath

Late on the 17th brings about one final burst from the energy that has been plaguing the Far Shore. For a short moment, every new temple glows with a soft light, seeming to beckon to their owners. But the light is gone quickly and everyone will find themselves back to normal with complete memories of everything that happened during their age adventures. The goblins that died, though, are still very dead. Looks like the library will need to get some new help soon.

[He reaches down, offering her hand.

To help, Sapphire Pegasus lowers his wings so that it doesn't get in the way of her climbing up.]

[ This is so cool, even the way he gave her his hand and helps her up, like a, like he's out of a storybook!

Hibiki straddles Sapphire Pegasus instead of sitting sidesaddle, heedless of her skirt. She also moves to hang onto Johan's middle, the better to stay secure. ] Are you a knight or something?

Or something!

[He laughs, tapping Sapphire Pegasus' neck again.

The Spirit spreads his wings out before flapping up into the air again. It goes pretty high up before it falls into an easy glide.]

[kurukuruchan]

Wooooooowwwww.....

[ This is so amazing. Hibiki looks around, awed by the view, the pegasus, the rider - everything. ]

It's like a Making Drama!

[ HIGH PRAISE. ]

[rainbowmaster]

[He laughs.]

Is it really?

[Johan will ignore the fact he doesn't know exactly what a drama is.

He gets an idea.]

Wanna go higher?

[kurukuruchan]

[ Does she ever. ] Mm!

[ Oh, this is so great. She holds on closer, cuddling up. ] Hey, where did you get him?

[rainbowmaster]

[A blink when she gets closer, but Sapphire Pegasus does go higher.]

I dunno. He was with me when I woke up.

[kurukuruchan]

That's so lucky.

[ She rests her head on the back of his head. ]

Nobody was there this morning.

[rainbowmaster]

If you get lonely, you can play with me and the rest of my family!

[Another blink when she rests her head on the back of his, cheeks dusting pink a bit.

Sapphire Pegasus' mirth echoes to him that Johan ignores and the Spirit continues its easy glide.]

[kurukuruchan]

Your family?

[ Like, brothers and sisters? Or....

She brightens. ]

You mean there's more?!

[rainbowmaster]

Yup!

[He grins.]

But no one can fly like Sapphire Pegasus and Cobalt Eagle.

[kurukuruchan]

That's so fun.

[ There's an eagle, too....and are they named after shiny stones, like the ones in jewelry? That's even cooler! ]

Talk about all of them.

[rainbowmaster]

[You've just said the magic words, Hibiki.

Johan practically beams.]

Other than Sapphire Pegasus and Cobalt Eagle, there's Amethyst Cat, Ruby Carbuncle, Emerald Turtle, Amber Mammoth, and Topaz Tiger! They're all very pretty and have shiny stones attached to them, too.

[And, well, excuse him as he happily relates to Hibiki about his Crystal Beasts.]

[kurukuruchan]

[ You have a rapt audience. This is the kind of thing she loves. It's not his fault if he doesn't know where these came from, but now that she knows about them, she can have somebody find some for her, too, later.

Hibiki will gladly soak in all of these learnings. ] Amazing....

What's a carbuncle?

[rainbowmaster]

It's a legendary animal. It's like a breed between a fox and a cat!

[And just because, Ruby Carbuncle appears on top of Johan's head, waving a paw at Hibiki.]

[kurukuruchan]

Uwah!

[ That startled her!

But not in a bad way, since Ruby's so cute. So Hibiki starts laughing off her surprise, grinning up at the creature. ]

Hi!

[rainbowmaster]

[He laughs, feeling Ruby climb down from his head and onto his shoulder so she can look at Hibiki better.]

She says 'hi' to you, too!

[kurukuruchan]

Is petting her okay?

[ Taking a hand off of Johan when they're this high up is kinda scary, but worth it if it means she gets to pet Ruby. ]

[rainbowmaster]

It is.

[And don't worry, if she falls Cobalt Eagle will appear to catch her.

Let's just ignore how taxing bringing out these monsters will make Johan exhausted later, okay.]

[kurukuruchan]

[ Blissful ignorance is her thing. It's good.

She also has good balance, so she doesn't fall off. Just reaches up and pets the little creature on the head, then giggles. ] She's soft!!

[ This is the best day ever. ]
