The Far Shore has been dealing with a lot of space-time pulsating through the past week or so and everything is culminating on the night of the 15th, even though the Heavens are preparing for an all-out Obon bash. They had planned to have the celebration on the 15th itself, but Amaterasu asked to postpone a day due to the horrible feeling that is permeating the Far Shore.

And it turns out she was right to postpone everything. In fact, it will have to be postponed another whole month at this rate...



Before

Late in the day on July 15th, the new batch of shinki will arrive to a Far Shore with a thick, tense atmosphere. All night on the 15th it feels like something is about to happen - and it's difficult to tell whether that something will be good or bad. Any attempts to contact the management of the Far Shore have fallen on deaf, slightly harried ears and so everyone is left to their own devices to try and figure out why things are so tense.

July 16

Just after midnight, an explosive shock wave rips through the Far Shore, bringing on the age changes with it. Even the spirits of the Far Shore seem to be affected - for example, the library goblins are either toddling around on wobbly legs or are dragging themselves from place to place and looking decrepit. There are a few gods and shinki that seem to have been exceptions from the change, though it is not clear why.

July 17

Another wave of energy comes in the early morning of the 17th. Fewer people are affected this time and it seems to alter those people's ages a second time. There is no rhyme or reason to who is being affected further. Several of the library goblins have just dropped dead from severe old age. Oops.

Aftermath

Late on the 17th brings about one final burst from the energy that has been plaguing the Far Shore. For a short moment, every new temple glows with a soft light, seeming to beckon to their owners. But the light is gone quickly and everyone will find themselves back to normal with complete memories of everything that happened during their age adventures. The goblins that died, though, are still very dead. Looks like the library will need to get some new help soon.

[He just makes a face at the idea of being 'cute'.

Though at the mention of the eyepatch, he reaches up, gently touching it. It's almost like a reminder of when they played twenty questions, but a different emotion masks his face. A blink, as if he's surprised it's there before he looks over at her.]

[Lavi almost seems to look uncomfortable but:] ...Can you help me retie it?

[Her smile softens at that, reaching her eyes.]

Of course. Anything for you, Shaye-chan. Turn around for me?

[There's still that initial hesitance, but he does turn around for her like she asked.

He's still very tense, but he'll stay still long enough for her to retie the eyepatch for him.]

[Hajime hums, reaching out and carefully untying the eyepatche string. They're already loose so its easy. Making sure it's set right, she starts retying it.]

I think this thing may be a little big for you. If you run around a lot it's gonna get loose no matter how I tie it.

[Well, she could a hell of a knot but she's not sure if Lavi ever needs to take it off. So instead she unclips the iconic silver bird clip from her hair and uses it to hold the eyepatch strings a bit more securely.]

Ta-da! How's that feel?

But I don't want to get another one.

[And he doesn't trust Hajime enough to have her buy a new one for him.

Although, he feels the clip and he blinks, trying to look back at her.

What did you put in his hair?]

It feels better. Thank you.

Then don't. If you like it, keep it. I'm only saying its kinda big, but it should stay no problem now.

[She ruffles his hair a bit. Partly to test it and also because, gosh, she just has to okay?]

Good! No problem Shaye-chan!

[She stays kneeled down, but he's free to turn around at any time. Hajime runs her fingers through her own hair, its strangle not having her favorite clip there but it's for a good cause]

What are you up to now?

[He doesn't like the hair ruffling, but he'll tolerate it.

He turns around, lone eye blinking at the sight of Hajime without her clip and it's. Weird somehow. A hand reaches back to where the strings are, fingers brushing against the clip.

O-Oh, so she did lend him one of her hair clips.

Dropping his hand, he stares at her.]

Nothing. [Since whoever he was with seems to have left now.]

[Hajime's smile just grows when he realizes it. Oh Lavi, lavi, lavi~ you are so adorable.]

Would you like to hang out with me? I was gonna get some ice cream but it's always better with another person.

Ice cream?

[A blank look.

What is ice cream?]

[That makes Hajime blink, her head tilts a bit]

Have you never had ice cream?

[He thinks about it.

But nope. He shakes his head.]

[THATS SO SAD! WHAT KIND OF CHILD DOESNT KNOW ICE CREAM?!

Hajime covers her face with both hands.

Oh man oh man, this is just wrong. Injustice. She wouldn't be able to call herself a hero if she didn't fix this. Right now.]

[Oh man, oh god, oh geez.
Sweet child. This needs to be fixed.
You will taste one of the most amazing things ever invented.]

[Ruffling her own hair as if trying to rack her own brain for answers as to WHY SEET BABY LAVI HASNT HAD ICE CREAM BEFORE she lets out a loud whine.

Hajime can't help but stare at him looking really distraught like who just had their puppy kicked.

Lavi, why would you kick a puppy? Even metaphorically]

[This is so messed up. BUT ITS OKAY! SHES GOING TO FIX IT!
Heroes save everyone! It doesn't matter how big or small the problem is, a hero is always there!

[Hajime gets up, smoothing her skirt as she takes a step towards him. She reaches gently out for him again to try and scoop him up]

I'll show you! Let's go get some together, okay?

[Have a really long stare from the tiny redhead as he watches Hajime go through the motions. He doesn't really see the big deal about never having ice cream before.

The fact she looked at him with those puppy eyes didn't move his unmoving heart at all.

He's patient through it all, waiting to see what she'll do before he notices her reaching for him, almost as if she's about to scoop him up. Immediately, Lavi takes a step back to prevent that and simply holds out his hand to her.

No scooping up but hand holding is okay, right?]

Wh-!!!

[Hajime blinks, practically hugging where Lavi use to be. Her arms are very empty and she looks at Lavi confused for a second. Then she sees the hand.]

Ahhh! I get it! Okay!

[She reaches out, grabbing onto his hand with a huge smile pulling at the corners of her lips]

Let's go~!

[Sorry Lavi, you're going to have to put up with her swinging arms the whole way there and skipping.]

[He should've ran the moment he had the chance to, especially since she's swinging their arms around. Then again, there's still that child inside of him who longs for that kind of warmth and carefree nature since he seems to have lost it himself.

Either way, he goes along with her, not skipping but probably into light jogs since she's taller than him and can take longer strides.]

Ice cream~ Ice cream~ Sprinkled Ice cream~ ♫ When the day is hot and steamy, Ice cream is so cold and creamy~! Put it in a cone. Put it in a cup. I'm just gonna eat it up~♫!

[Yes she is going to sing/hum an ice cream song the whole way there. Hand in hand, luckily there's a ice cream shop not too far off for Lavi's sake. It's when they're there that she points to the menu]

[Curious, he leans closer to the menu.

There were a lot of flavors here, ones that he's never even heard of. His eyebrows furrow, seemingly deep in thought before he points at one.]

This one.

[It's mint chocolate chip.]

Good choice! One scoop or two? Oh, maybe three? Do you want it in a bowl or a cone?

[As she askes Lavi, she points out the items that are displayed on the counter.]

[So. So many options.

He stares at her briefly, bemused, before he turns to the items.

A blink.]

One scoop. [Tilts his head to the side.] ...A cone.

[Does it matter?]

Gatcha~!

[She winks to him before standing upright to give their order. It only takes a few minutes before the sugary goodies are being handed over to Hajime. She thanks the clerk and gestures for Lavi to follower her to some tables. Taking a seat she holds his Mint Chocolate Chip cone out to him]

Here~! It looks super good! Eat up!

[Hajime as her own cone, Strawberry Cheesecake loaded with sprinkles which shes already licking.]
