The Far Shore has been dealing with a lot of space-time pulsating through the past week or so and everything is culminating on the night of the 15th, even though the Heavens are preparing for an all-out Obon bash. They had planned to have the celebration on the 15th itself, but Amaterasu asked to postpone a day due to the horrible feeling that is permeating the Far Shore.

And it turns out she was right to postpone everything. In fact, it will have to be postponed another whole month at this rate...



Before

Late in the day on July 15th, the new batch of shinki will arrive to a Far Shore with a thick, tense atmosphere. All night on the 15th it feels like something is about to happen - and it's difficult to tell whether that something will be good or bad. Any attempts to contact the management of the Far Shore have fallen on deaf, slightly harried ears and so everyone is left to their own devices to try and figure out why things are so tense.

July 16

Just after midnight, an explosive shock wave rips through the Far Shore, bringing on the age changes with it. Even the spirits of the Far Shore seem to be affected - for example, the library goblins are either toddling around on wobbly legs or are dragging themselves from place to place and looking decrepit. There are a few gods and shinki that seem to have been exceptions from the change, though it is not clear why.

July 17

Another wave of energy comes in the early morning of the 17th. Fewer people are affected this time and it seems to alter those people's ages a second time. There is no rhyme or reason to who is being affected further. Several of the library goblins have just dropped dead from severe old age. Oops.

Aftermath

Late on the 17th brings about one final burst from the energy that has been plaguing the Far Shore. For a short moment, every new temple glows with a soft light, seeming to beckon to their owners. But the light is gone quickly and everyone will find themselves back to normal with complete memories of everything that happened during their age adventures. The goblins that died, though, are still very dead. Looks like the library will need to get some new help soon.

Yeah, like that! It was kind of like someone dug out a hill and put a house in it, it was really big and cool and had big birds outside too. [It was all very exciting and he plans to look around more when he goes back there later, but for now he's exploring other things.

Apparently the suggestion of the adults having been taken away is worth some very serious consideration, but Shun shakes his head.]

No, I saw one earlier in the place I woke up. [He leans around Goku to point at the building he came out of.] Were there no adults in there?

Whoooa. I wanna see!

[ That's like almost as cool as a house on top of a tree! Maybe even cooler because you can have lots more space. As for his own house... ]

I dunno about anyone in there.

[ He lowers his voice, like it's a secret. ]

I just kinda snuck out.

It's way back that way. [Shun points back the way he came. He doesn't figure that will be a deterrent to anyone who wants to explore, anyway.

When Goku says that, Shun leans in to listen, looking up at the temple like it's some kind of great mystery.]

Maybe everyone left already. Or maybe you were the only one, but that's kinda spooky.

[It seems like it'd be sad to be alone in a building that big.]

Maybe.

[ He didn't think about who else might be in there at the time. But it was big and quiet in there, so he might've been afraid to find out that he was alone. He feels a bit worried again. ]

Who do you live with?

Um...well normally I live with my parents and little sister, but when I woke up here there were two adults in the weird house with me. They were both kind of funny, but also nice, and they weren't surprised about me being there or anything.

[So even if he can't remember living there normally, maybe he's been here longer than he thinks. It's an odd thought to linger on, though, so he smiles and moves on from it.]

I think you can meet more people out here, anyway.

Ooh.

[ The kid has parents and a sister. Goku doesn't remember if he has any of those things. He looks back at the house over his shoulder. Maybe he should've checked if he had parents and they lived there with him, too. But in a way he doesn't wanna. Because then he'd feel bad about not even remembering them. He looks back at the boy and smiles back. ]

I guess so. I met you, anyway. Hehe.

Yeah, that's already one more person than was in there, right? [An important logical step to make, apparently. That said, it also reminds Shun that he kind of forgot to introduce himself properly, and he extends a hand for Goku to shake if he wants.]

Oh yeah, I'm Shun. Nice to meet you.

[ Oooh, a handshake! Goku feels very important. He grins and takes Shun's hand and pumps it up and down. ]

I'm Goku! Nice to meetcha too. I promise I won't forget you. I think I forgot everyone else I knew.

[The enthusiastic return handshake seems to make Shun quite happy as well, and he goes along with it for however long Goku likes before withdrawing his hand with a concerned yet understanding look.]

You too, huh? I've met a couple of people who I think know me, but I don't remember them. It's really weird. Are you okay other than that, though?

Hmmm, yeah, I think so. I mean...I'm kinda hungry.

[ And his stomach even growls a little just then. Oops. Goku grins sheepishly. ]

Do you know if there's any food around here?
