The Far Shore has been dealing with a lot of space-time pulsating through the past week or so and everything is culminating on the night of the 15th, even though the Heavens are preparing for an all-out Obon bash. They had planned to have the celebration on the 15th itself, but Amaterasu asked to postpone a day due to the horrible feeling that is permeating the Far Shore.

And it turns out she was right to postpone everything. In fact, it will have to be postponed another whole month at this rate...



Before

Late in the day on July 15th, the new batch of shinki will arrive to a Far Shore with a thick, tense atmosphere. All night on the 15th it feels like something is about to happen - and it's difficult to tell whether that something will be good or bad. Any attempts to contact the management of the Far Shore have fallen on deaf, slightly harried ears and so everyone is left to their own devices to try and figure out why things are so tense.

July 16

Just after midnight, an explosive shock wave rips through the Far Shore, bringing on the age changes with it. Even the spirits of the Far Shore seem to be affected - for example, the library goblins are either toddling around on wobbly legs or are dragging themselves from place to place and looking decrepit. There are a few gods and shinki that seem to have been exceptions from the change, though it is not clear why.

July 17

Another wave of energy comes in the early morning of the 17th. Fewer people are affected this time and it seems to alter those people's ages a second time. There is no rhyme or reason to who is being affected further. Several of the library goblins have just dropped dead from severe old age. Oops.

Aftermath

Late on the 17th brings about one final burst from the energy that has been plaguing the Far Shore. For a short moment, every new temple glows with a soft light, seeming to beckon to their owners. But the light is gone quickly and everyone will find themselves back to normal with complete memories of everything that happened during their age adventures. The goblins that died, though, are still very dead. Looks like the library will need to get some new help soon.

( She's certain this boy is the same one she met on her first day but he's different. She can't help but flinch slightly at how sudden his answer is but she recovers quickly enough. )

It's just that... you look to be upset, is all. Y-you aren't lost too, are you?

[Seeing her flinch doesn't make him feel bad, but it eases his tone a bit.

Not all adults are bad; he just can't immediately accept it.]

I'm not lost. [He is, definitely is. Not that he'd say that.]

I see.

( She isn't buying it but she goes along with it naturally enough. But she can't let it slide, not when he'd looked so troubled. How can she help if he won't talk to her? She twists her hands nervously trying to think and recalls something, )

Then... do you know where we are? I only arrived here not too long ago s-so I'm still finding my bearings. I want to find a certain t-temple.

[A frown.]

What temple?

It is.

( There's a start. )

I'm looking for a goddess... her name is... Hel, I believe.

( That was... the name of his goddess, right? )

[ripplesoflosttime]

[A slow blink before Lavi looks at her questioningly.]

Hel?

[The name sort of rings a bell, but right now, he only knows that his goddess' name is Cardia.]

[festal]

Y-yes. When I first arrived her... her shinki helped me very much so I would like to give both of them my thanks.

( And perhaps help by returning her shinki to her. )

But then a-all of this happened and I feel like I hardly know which way is up or down anymore.

[He looks at her curiously.

Well, he guesses he can help.]

...I can take you to my goddess' temple. She should know who Hel is. [Sorry Sakura, but Lavi hasn't been told that Hel and Cardia are the same person right now.]

[festal]

( He's still the same kiddo... )

If it isn't too much trouble, please. ( Why is she being so polite to a child the answer is she's just an incredibly polite person. ) Thank you.

Uhm... I-I'm Sakura.

As in the cherry blossoms?

[A blink at her at her manners, but then:]

My name is Shaye.

Th-that's right.

( Just like the cherry blossoms. The name catches her off guard, though, )

Shaye...? ( Not Lavi? ) It's... nice to meet you. I-if you don't mind me asking... were you okay, earlier?

[He sees the way it catches him off guard, enough that it makes some of the wariness return.

But he continues on when she asks that question:]

I'm fine, just a little tired.

[festal]

Hehe.... same here.

I wonder if big brother was this tired taking care of my other siblings and me... ( He never appeared to complain and had taken things in stride for as long as she could remember, even if he'd been thrown from his brotherly position to that of an almost-father for them. )

.... You've forgotten this place too, haven't you? Takumi and Asato-kun didn't remember anything either.

You have other family here? [The concept of having one is a bit foreign to the tiny redhead.

Then again, if people actually do manage to have family here, that's nice for them, isn't it?

....Yes? I don't remember how I got here.

( She nods, )

My brother, Takumi, is here and my sister, Corrin too. ( She smiles just thinking about it, ) I have another brother and sister but they aren't here. ( And then sounds a little sad remembering her missing family. )

Oh... you aren't the only one. I-I know that doesn't help you very much but you aren't alone in that regard, at least. B-but if you can't remember anything maybe... you've learned something about this place since you've been here?

...It must be nice to have your family here.

[A blink before he frowns a bit.]

I've learned that this is Heaven and that I'm--

[He hesitates.] Dead.

[festal]

( Oh. )

Th-that's right. I... I can't imagine what that must feel like. ( She isn't going to pretend either, as sympathetic as she is. ) Were you thinking about that...?

[Lavi shakes his head.]

Dying is natural.

[He looks down briefly before he looks at her.]

Being dead doesn't scare me.
