The Far Shore has been dealing with a lot of space-time pulsating through the past week or so and everything is culminating on the night of the 15th, even though the Heavens are preparing for an all-out Obon bash. They had planned to have the celebration on the 15th itself, but Amaterasu asked to postpone a day due to the horrible feeling that is permeating the Far Shore.

And it turns out she was right to postpone everything. In fact, it will have to be postponed another whole month at this rate...



Before

Late in the day on July 15th, the new batch of shinki will arrive to a Far Shore with a thick, tense atmosphere. All night on the 15th it feels like something is about to happen - and it's difficult to tell whether that something will be good or bad. Any attempts to contact the management of the Far Shore have fallen on deaf, slightly harried ears and so everyone is left to their own devices to try and figure out why things are so tense.

July 16

Just after midnight, an explosive shock wave rips through the Far Shore, bringing on the age changes with it. Even the spirits of the Far Shore seem to be affected - for example, the library goblins are either toddling around on wobbly legs or are dragging themselves from place to place and looking decrepit. There are a few gods and shinki that seem to have been exceptions from the change, though it is not clear why.

July 17

Another wave of energy comes in the early morning of the 17th. Fewer people are affected this time and it seems to alter those people's ages a second time. There is no rhyme or reason to who is being affected further. Several of the library goblins have just dropped dead from severe old age. Oops.

Aftermath

Late on the 17th brings about one final burst from the energy that has been plaguing the Far Shore. For a short moment, every new temple glows with a soft light, seeming to beckon to their owners. But the light is gone quickly and everyone will find themselves back to normal with complete memories of everything that happened during their age adventures. The goblins that died, though, are still very dead. Looks like the library will need to get some new help soon.

Do you like it? I got it this mor— [...ning? Did he get it this morning? His head's starting to hurt, so he's not going to think about it.]

[As for the how, though—] Hmm~? Do you want to celebrate with me? [HE KNOWS A PLACE. (Said place may or may not be Izumo's own bar.)]

[Don't think too hard, Fubuki, please.

He laughs.] Sure I do. [Let's ignore the fact his physical age is underaged.] But my bar is under repairs right now, so we might have to celebrate at my god's temple.

[blizzardrock]

No temples. [He folds his arms with a grin.] Fun zones only!

[Like the beach. Everybody loves the beach, right?? He doesn't have his fun equipment, though. Like, he isn't dressed for it. Or something.]

How about a pool? [fubuki no]

Fun zones, huh?

[A raised eyebrow.]

Where are you going to find a pool?

[blizzardrock]

I'm sure there are some around. [Totally unbothered by the implication that there are not, in fact, any nearby.]

...You can tell I'm making this up, aren't you? [It's true that he was celebrating, but...] I can't really remember where it was supposed to be...

[Oh well.] I'm sure it's nothing. [Because if it was important, he wouldn't have forgotten, right? Right.] By the way...I've been wondering this, but how old are you?

I can. [Because really, Izumo has met him long enough to be somewhat familiar with him.

He raises an eyebrow at the question before he looks at himself.

...It's sometimes easy to forget he's a teen again.]

Eighteen.

[blizzardrock]

Aha...is that so? [He admitted it!! Note to self, don't lie to this guy.]

[As for the age thing, though, that's one curiosity taken care of.] That's a nice age to be.

[He may be a little fixated on this. (Just a little.)]

You tend to get a bit dramatic. [Lying is never a good thing when it comes to Izumo.

A bit of a curious look is directed at him.]

[Busted......]

You know...I'm not actually sure. I don't remember it. But it must be, right? [Certain ages where all the fun stuff happens, that sort of thing. Or something.]

You don't think so?

[Izumo looks amused, a smile appearing on his face.]

An age is just a number to me, so I don't really think about it much.

[A shrug.] I just know that once I hit twenty, I can legally drink.

[blizzardrock]

[Way to take the wind out of his sails, Izumo. don't destroy his dreams]

You may be right about that.

[He folds his arms.] I know that becoming an adult isn't necessarily a matter of age. But it's nice to have it all official and everything, you know?

Mm, I'll need to treat you to a drink then.

[blizzardrock]

Haha, I appreciate the thought. But you're eighteen, though?

[He doesn't encourage that kind of rule-breaking.]

[A mischievous grin.]

No one needs to know my age. [He can probably be sneaky enough to get himself into a bar.

Let him do this, Fubuki.]

[When someone grins like that, how can he say no]

Then...if you insist.

[If they do get into trouble, at least it won't be that serious??]

...Hang on. [He takes off the paper crown, because he at least recognizes that it makes him more conspicuous, and stashes it in his coat (somehow) (don't question it).] So what's the plan?

How confident are you in your acting skills?

[No temples, nothing related to gods.

Time to sneak into a bar, after all.]

[Ohh?] Very.

[But, something Fubuki isn't acknowledging—confidence in one's skills and the actual skill are different things. Just as a warning]

I can play to a crowd. [...A specific crowd, but he doesn't know that.]

Then hope you don't mind if we sneak out some liquor.

[Might as well try to put those acting skills to use.

Izumo is not above taking out liquor.]

Isn't that their livelihood, though?

[Barring certain kinds of pranks if they're amusing enough Fubuki is mostly a law-abider—!! You're a terrible influence, Izumo]

Only some. [A smile.] Not as if they'd notice one or two bottles missing.

[Izumo's bad as a teenager, but he's feeling mischievous enough to do a prank or two.]

It won't go badly.

[Well...why not.]

If you say so. [If he's done something like this before...he doesn't remember it. But his concerns seem to be purely academic and he feels no hesitation in the actual-pulling-it-off front, so this has a good chance of turning out fine.]

What's the plan?

[But don't worry. Izumo will tell him the plan.

Just enough for Fubuki to distract the patrons and the owner while Izumo sneaks out the liquor.
