The Far Shore has been dealing with a lot of space-time pulsating through the past week or so and everything is culminating on the night of the 15th, even though the Heavens are preparing for an all-out Obon bash. They had planned to have the celebration on the 15th itself, but Amaterasu asked to postpone a day due to the horrible feeling that is permeating the Far Shore.

And it turns out she was right to postpone everything. In fact, it will have to be postponed another whole month at this rate...



Before

Late in the day on July 15th, the new batch of shinki will arrive to a Far Shore with a thick, tense atmosphere. All night on the 15th it feels like something is about to happen - and it's difficult to tell whether that something will be good or bad. Any attempts to contact the management of the Far Shore have fallen on deaf, slightly harried ears and so everyone is left to their own devices to try and figure out why things are so tense.

July 16

Just after midnight, an explosive shock wave rips through the Far Shore, bringing on the age changes with it. Even the spirits of the Far Shore seem to be affected - for example, the library goblins are either toddling around on wobbly legs or are dragging themselves from place to place and looking decrepit. There are a few gods and shinki that seem to have been exceptions from the change, though it is not clear why.

July 17

Another wave of energy comes in the early morning of the 17th. Fewer people are affected this time and it seems to alter those people's ages a second time. There is no rhyme or reason to who is being affected further. Several of the library goblins have just dropped dead from severe old age. Oops.

Aftermath

Late on the 17th brings about one final burst from the energy that has been plaguing the Far Shore. For a short moment, every new temple glows with a soft light, seeming to beckon to their owners. But the light is gone quickly and everyone will find themselves back to normal with complete memories of everything that happened during their age adventures. The goblins that died, though, are still very dead. Looks like the library will need to get some new help soon.

Yeah, Maddragonra would be good. Hopefully he isn't scared by us being bigger too. I don't think we could chase them both down if that's the case.

[ Goten laughs. But it is a good bet. Find Mandragonra and get little Aymeric to follow and trust them. Really all Goten wants to do is make sure he's okay and gain his trust again. His laughter stops dead as she starts to glow, making his eyes widen. Goten is awestruck as wings burst from her back.

Uh. Okay. Wow.

Goten didn't get to see before how she got her wings to appear before when they were smaller. This wasn't what he was expecting. Not that he's complaining either. But with that faint light still sparkling around her and her wings outstretched wings and the mischievous smile and, and and...the list just goes on. She's just....so amazing! Again, he can feel his face grow warmer almost instantly.
Get it together, Goten!]

Y-Yeah! I mean...if you think you can keep up with me.

[He tries to sound more confident because....actually, he doesn't know why. It just comes out. Shaking his head, Goten hovers into the air ahead of her before flipping around and floating backwards. If it's a race she wants, he's game!]

Did you say your temple or did you mean Souji's?

[Because he actually doesn't remember now.]

I think the fish will work. [ She grins. ] Mandragora loves food, after all.

[ She misses his stunned reaction to her transformation as she lightly wings up to hover in the air to join him, before casting him a bright smile, pleased and anticipating the race. ]

But can you keep up with me? [ She teases with a wink, propping her hands on her hips as she takes up that challenge. ]

Mine. I have more food supplies there from earlier, when I was making lunches.

See you there! [ And with a playful laugh, she takes off, fully taking advantage of a headstart because she knows just how fast he is and she doesn't mind using the surprise to her advantage. ]

[songoten]

[This is all too much. He's way too aware of Nanako right now. He feels like he's getting a fever with how warm his own face feels. Goten never gets sick either so what is this.]

. . . .

[Goten snaps out of it and stops gawking up at her when she finally takes off.]

H-Hey! That's not fair!

[It's fair. Totally fair. Goten quickly speeds after her. Head start or not how much faster could she have really gotten?]

[ She just laughs, the sound streaming back through the air behind her as she takes off. She knows she's not as fast as he is, but she still does her best, graceful wings flapping furiously to carry her forward. He might beat her anyway, but she's going to make him work for it. ]

[She only gets that lead for so long before he catches up to her. She has gotten faster. Considerably faster even.
But she still has some work to do if she wants to ever race Goten for real. Still, it's impressive considering just a few days ago she was just learning. Age up or not. He gives her a thumbs up.]

Hey, you did get a lot faster, Nanako! You learn fast. But you're going to have to do better then that if you wanna beat me!

[He flashes a cheeky grin]

It's not over yet, Goten!

[ She just flashes him a grin when he catches up.

And then she abruptly drops into a dive, speeding down towards the forest they were winging above. She still has some tricks to play. ]

Huh?

[Goten blinks slowly as she suddenly dives down towards the forest. What good is that going to do?

He could just keep going the way he is and just book it to her temple but he's curious to this plan of hers. How is a detour going to help? That is what it is, isn't it?

So he ends up chasing after Nanako, diving down as well]

[ She's still laughing, head thrown back as she enjoys the feel of the wind in her face, her wings spread for balance as she straightens out, skimming the tops of the trees, so close sometimes that she could reach out and touch the leaves.

She knows he's following, but if she keeps him guessing as to what she's doing, he's also not racing ahead of her. She grins, putting on a burst of speed with a powerful motion from her wings, and zigzags above the treetops. ]

[Goten really has no idea what she's doing. He thought she was going into the forest but she's just skimming the tree tops. Still it's a sight to see. Catching faint echos of laugh and there's just something about angel wings on nanako that is just stunning.

BUT

They are racing. He shakes his head, scowling himself for staring before flying after her. He does shout out to her from behind as he follows her zig with his own zag]

Do you have a short cut or something you're not telling me. That's cheating you know!

[Why else would she be taking this way?]

What, are you worried you might lose after all?

[ She calls it back to him with a grin, glancing back over her shoulder at him. ]

And it's not cheating! We never set any rules!

[songoten]

Wha- No!

[He pouts at her, though its hard to considering he can't stop smiling.]

Shortcuts are always cheating!

[Goten laughs. But okay! Goten grins as he picks up speed before zooming off ahead of her.]

[ Only the moment he zooms past her, she veers sharply to the right, catching a breeze that carries her in a completely different direction without warning.

She's still laughing as she calls after him. ]
