The Far Shore has been dealing with a lot of space-time pulsating through the past week or so and everything is culminating on the night of the 15th, even though the Heavens are preparing for an all-out Obon bash. They had planned to have the celebration on the 15th itself, but Amaterasu asked to postpone a day due to the horrible feeling that is permeating the Far Shore.

And it turns out she was right to postpone everything. In fact, it will have to be postponed another whole month at this rate...



Before

Late in the day on July 15th, the new batch of shinki will arrive to a Far Shore with a thick, tense atmosphere. All night on the 15th it feels like something is about to happen - and it's difficult to tell whether that something will be good or bad. Any attempts to contact the management of the Far Shore have fallen on deaf, slightly harried ears and so everyone is left to their own devices to try and figure out why things are so tense.

July 16

Just after midnight, an explosive shock wave rips through the Far Shore, bringing on the age changes with it. Even the spirits of the Far Shore seem to be affected - for example, the library goblins are either toddling around on wobbly legs or are dragging themselves from place to place and looking decrepit. There are a few gods and shinki that seem to have been exceptions from the change, though it is not clear why.

July 17

Another wave of energy comes in the early morning of the 17th. Fewer people are affected this time and it seems to alter those people's ages a second time. There is no rhyme or reason to who is being affected further. Several of the library goblins have just dropped dead from severe old age. Oops.

Aftermath

Late on the 17th brings about one final burst from the energy that has been plaguing the Far Shore. For a short moment, every new temple glows with a soft light, seeming to beckon to their owners. But the light is gone quickly and everyone will find themselves back to normal with complete memories of everything that happened during their age adventures. The goblins that died, though, are still very dead. Looks like the library will need to get some new help soon.

Afternoon (Teenaged w/ memories despite icon)

[ So he's suddenly younger. Most people would probably be happy about that. Even though he remembers his time in the Far Shore, this is still the least favorite time in his life to be reliving. And then he spies a familiar mop of red hair on a much smaller body. It's been literal years... but if he's still a god, that means Gojyo's still a shinki. So he knows he still has to obey the rules. ]

Hey - hey kid? Where's your god?

[ Because if Chrono wasn't looking after him... but then again maybe Chrono got turned into a kid too. ]

[ There are these things called takoyaki, and they're the greatest things ever. They're chewy, and a little fishy tasting (but in a good way), and they're got this sauce on 'em that's sweet and a little bit salty, and they come on a stick that you can use to poke people or spear a couple leaves together and make a raft or line 'em up like a fence... it's awesome.

He's got two in each hand, and another about to become a choking hazard in his mouth, but he doesn't need words to answer a silly question like that. ]

Haaah?

[Yep that... definitely answers that question. Unlike himself, Gojyo must not remember being a shinki. Okay then, double-time on the keep quiet stuff. Boy he's just winning the lottery with trying to talk to Gojyo.]

Heh, nevermind. Forgot I should never interrupt a guy when he's eating.

[He holds up both hands to laugh it off.]

Although if you're hungry, I can find some more where that came from.

[Because now for all he knows his brother's been wandering around without Ekko to watch him.]

[ Any other adult -- or near-adult -- offering to feed him would have been met with disdain at best and immediate fleeing at worst. He can feed himself, okay? But this guy... this guy is different.

Gojyo gulps down the last of his mouthful and spits the stick out. ]

You're a real youkai?

[ That's pretty much the last question he expected to come out of Gojyo's mouth. It hadn't even occurred to him that among the limited information shinki can remember about their former lives, he'd know about the difference between 'real' youkai and... another kind. He leans back just a little in his surprise, but then slowly nods. ]

Yeah, I'm a youkai. How'd you know?

[ Because that's the safest approach, really, he decides. Taking Gojyo's lead on what he knows. He's hardly ashamed of admitting that to humans who ask about the ears or the tattoo; it's just as delicate an approach as he'd had to take with Hakkai - up until recently. ]

[erogappa]

[ Gojyo's face is lit up like he's meeting the local team's star quarterback and Santa Claus all rolled into one. He taps his own round ear, then points at Doku's gracefully pointed one. ]

You've got youkai ears! And a clan mark! [ Seriously, he's going to hurt himself if he keeps grinning that hard. ] What clan are you? Are there other youkai here?

[Well... alright then. At least Gojyo knew all of that already without him providing that information.]

Wow, pretty smart, figuring all that out. I've met two other youkai here, but they're not from my clan. I kinda switched.

[Easiest way to explain his association with his prince without really getting into it, right? Especially since WHY is almost guaranteed to be something he can't explain to Gojyo.]
