The Far Shore has been dealing with a lot of space-time pulsating through the past week or so and everything is culminating on the night of the 15th, even though the Heavens are preparing for an all-out Obon bash. They had planned to have the celebration on the 15th itself, but Amaterasu asked to postpone a day due to the horrible feeling that is permeating the Far Shore.

And it turns out she was right to postpone everything. In fact, it will have to be postponed another whole month at this rate...



Before

Late in the day on July 15th, the new batch of shinki will arrive to a Far Shore with a thick, tense atmosphere. All night on the 15th it feels like something is about to happen - and it's difficult to tell whether that something will be good or bad. Any attempts to contact the management of the Far Shore have fallen on deaf, slightly harried ears and so everyone is left to their own devices to try and figure out why things are so tense.

July 16

Just after midnight, an explosive shock wave rips through the Far Shore, bringing on the age changes with it. Even the spirits of the Far Shore seem to be affected - for example, the library goblins are either toddling around on wobbly legs or are dragging themselves from place to place and looking decrepit. There are a few gods and shinki that seem to have been exceptions from the change, though it is not clear why.

July 17

Another wave of energy comes in the early morning of the 17th. Fewer people are affected this time and it seems to alter those people's ages a second time. There is no rhyme or reason to who is being affected further. Several of the library goblins have just dropped dead from severe old age. Oops.

Aftermath

Late on the 17th brings about one final burst from the energy that has been plaguing the Far Shore. For a short moment, every new temple glows with a soft light, seeming to beckon to their owners. But the light is gone quickly and everyone will find themselves back to normal with complete memories of everything that happened during their age adventures. The goblins that died, though, are still very dead. Looks like the library will need to get some new help soon.

[ How big. She went over a lot of it while looking for people earlier, but... ]

Smaller than Father and Mother's home, bigger than the Persailles one.

That's huge.

More room for fun stuff that way.

[ She also doesn't think it's anything out of the ordinary. Don't most houses have this many rooms?

The castle is cool, though, for having all kinds of other things. ]

[Hibiki, no.

Not all houses are like this.]

Do you watch movies, too?

[ DING DING DING

Her face lights up. ] Yeah! Do you like movies??

[ripplesoflosttime]

[A blink before he nods.

Granted, the movies he's probably seen is different than what she knows, but:]

I do. Can we watch some?

[kurukuruchan]

[ Big nods. ] Sure! There's looooots. And a big screen.

[ There's even a homemade disc that she'd knocked over while exploring that says BATTLEFIELD GUITARIST on it, which is a very strange name for a movie, and sounds very Grown Up. ]

[Somehow, knowing there are a lot of movies in this place isn't surprising to him.]

Then you can pick out the movie.

[Slumber party; that's what this is really.]

Okay!

[ This is nothing new. She always picks out the movie at home.

This means she's gonna have to pick a reaaaally good movie, though. Something that sounds fun....This will take almost as much thought as having to explain why tea parties are fun.

But that went well, so she's confident.

Hibiki does get a serious look on her face as she thinks it over. She will do right by her friend. ]

[While Hibiki picks out the movie, Lavi will patiently wait, probably nibbling on a croissant while he's at it.

He watches her curiously, waiting to see what kind of movie she'll pick out.]

[ Hibiki takes a while with the pile of movies, but she comes back with a golden disc marked 2001: A Galactic Odyssey in big, blocky letters. They kind of look like Hibiki's own writing, if one were to squint. ]

This one's about space. That's what this word means.

[ She points to "Galactic". Hibiki likes space movies. And fairy tale movies. And thief movies.

Movies about real life are weird because the houses are too small and the people tend to be sad about things she doesn't get. They argue, too. And that's strange, because everyone is friends. ]

[He wonders if he should tell her that he knows what the word means. Just because he's not more familiar with any of the modern stuff doesn't mean he has a lack of understanding when it comes to words. Then again, he doesn't want to fight.

So, Lavi tilts his head.]

You like Space movies? [She definitely struck out to him more as a fairy tale person.]

[kurukuruchan]

They're fun. With the costumes, and the adventures.

[ Look! If you press this button in the wall, a screen comes down! She found that out while setting up. ] Space pirates are the best, though. They can go anywhere with their friends!

[ripplesoflosttime]

[A blink when the screen comes down, though otherwise, he doesn't show much other reaction.

He hums.]

Do you have a favorite Space pirate?

All of them!

[ Where is the....Here it is. Here is the button she presses to make the tray come out for the disc. In it goes. ]

Space trains are cool, too.

You really do seem to like everything.

Is there anything you don't like?

[kurukuruchan]

Sad movies.

[ She says it immediately. ] Because they don't make any sense.

[ A menu appears on the screen. For a home movie, this is pretty intricate. Someone with editing chops had a good time. ]

[He blinks.]

People like sad movies sometimes.

[And...wow, that's actually really good for a home movie.]

[kurukuruchan]

[ Hibiki takes a seat next to her friend. ] They put a weird weight here.

[ She presses her chest. ] Rain does, too.

[ Let's watch this movie! ]

[Weird weight, huh?

He wants to tell her what it could mean, but doesn't.

It's movie time!]

[ This is an exciting movie from Purimount Pictures, apparently, despite having had all the exterior trappings of a home-burned DVD. It is about a dashing hero's exploits in space battles! No matter what, you can count on him and his trusty spaceship to save the day.

The dashing hero has hair the same color as Hibiki's and eyes the same color as Hibiki's and one weird stupid curl on the side of his face, just like Hibiki. He has a low voice like Hibiki, too - even lower.

Hibiki is mesmerized. ] Woooow........
