Summary: A breach in the space-time continuum is messing things up.

The Far Shore has been dealing with a lot of space-time pulsating through the past week or so and everything is culminating on the night of the 15th, even though the Heavens are preparing for an all-out Obon bash. They had planned to have the celebration on the 15th itself, but Amaterasu asked to postpone a day due to the horrible feeling that is permeating the Far Shore.

And it turns out she was right to postpone everything. In fact, it will have to be postponed another whole month at this rate...

Before

Late in the day on July 15th, the new batch of shinki will arrive to a Far Shore with a thick, tense atmosphere. All night on the 15th it feels like something is about to happen - and it's difficult to tell whether that something will be good or bad. Any attempts to contact the management of the Far Shore have fallen on deaf, slightly harried ears and so everyone is left to their own devices to try and figure out why things are so tense.

July 16

Just after midnight, an explosive shock wave rips through the Far Shore, bringing on the age changes with it. Even the spirits of the Far Shore seem to be affected - for example, the library goblins are either toddling around on wobbly legs or are dragging themselves from place to place and looking decrepit. There are a few gods and shinki that seem to have been exceptions from the change, though it is not clear why.

July 17

Another wave of energy comes in the early morning of the 17th. Fewer people are affected this time and it seems to alter those people's ages a second time. There is no rhyme or reason to who is being affected further. Several of the library goblins have just dropped dead from severe old age. Oops.

Aftermath

Late on the 17th brings about one final burst from the energy that has been plaguing the Far Shore. For a short moment, every new temple glows with a soft light, seeming to beckon to their owners. But the light is gone quickly and everyone will find themselves back to normal with complete memories of everything that happened during their age adventures. The goblins that died, though, are still very dead. Looks like the library will need to get some new help soon.

As if you didn't know! What are you planning for him?

[Luna sighs, shaking her head.]

I'm not planning anything. Not for you, or for Lucian.

[She has a sudden thought, though.]

...Your disdain for the gods is plain, but would you trust an angel?

...What is an angel?

[None of those in her mythology -- or if there are, she knows nothing of them.]

Here... let me show you.

[Luna bows her head and clasps her hands for a moment, as if in prayer, and moments later a pair of angelic wings unfold from her back.]

Oh! [So surprising is that display that Platina claps a hand to her mouth, knowing not at all what to make of it.] How -- why do you have wings?

I am an archangel.

[She bows her head for a moment.]

My role here is to help those in need, heal the injured and the sick, and provide comfort to those in distress.

That's...

[There is no joy in those words. Platina lifts her hand up to her eyes, as if to shield them from the truth.]

If that's true, that's terribly cruel. Why does -- wherever we are, get such treatment, while back home so many are suffering or ill or simply without hope?

That, I'm afraid, is beyond my ability to answer. The suffering of the downtrodden is not something that I've ever ignored myself, though - both before being called here and after. I'm truly sorry you've had to endure such hardships. I know my words alone cannot heal your heart or the hurt you've felt, but if there is anything at all I can do for you, you need only ask.

[She doesn't know if she can trust the offer, doesn't know what she could ask for even if she does. But then a thought occurs to her.]

Lucian. I'm sure he needs help too.

What does he look like? If he's here in this place, I'll do my best to find him and bring him back to you.

[There's a short pause. She doesn't want to get the girl's hopes up too high.]

...And if he's not, I can at least promise you that I will pray earnestly for his safety. Sometimes even the wishes of angels can be granted in this place.

He's tall. [As is everyone, to Platina.] On the thin side, with blond hair, about my age.

All right. I'll look for him for you. In the meantime, you can take refuge at my cathedral. You'll be safe there - you have my word.

A -- cathedral? [Oh, but of course a big city like this would have something like that. She looks around, as if expecting it to be nearby. Most things in her village were right to hand, after all.]

That's right. Look for a white building with a tall bell tower and statues with wings like mine.

That sounds really fancy. [Compared to a lowly peasant village, but then again, this whole world is -- well, it's something else again, right here where she is, isn't it?]

It's... a bit ostentatious, yes, but it feels like home.

Why? I mean, why is it so fancy? [Really, what's the purpose of it?]

I suppose that would be a question for the original Raphael. I've just been filling in for these past few years.

[Years, decades, whatever.]
