Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods (although there's none this time) and shinki

The product of many meetings and recommendations, at last it has taken shape. On this day, in anticipation of the new arrivals who appear in a recognized pattern, Heaven has partnered with the new gods and shinki to organize a very helpful informational reception.

The shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided kindly towards Bishamon's temple. And in that vast complex they are brought to a traditional-style dojo.
Here the newly arrived gods are gathered, so finding their partner is more simple. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the aspects of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki, or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.

[ There's no way he's going to open up a can of worms and ask what this shinki temple was that Goten was talking about. There was a lot of complicated things about this whole far shore thing that Shizuo knows that he'll never really 'get.'

And while Shizuo glances towards his shoulder, the blond doesn't seem to be bothered by it. Honestly, there's a lot that Goten could probably get away with doing. ]

Plus, it'd be kinda rude to go hunting when someone set up this whole training thing for everyone. This should be right up your interests, yeah?

Ya but I train with Izumo a lot. Shinki training isn't as fun and is harder to do. Borderlines are a lot different then trying to punch someone in the face.

[He likes it still, but its different]

Do another borderline, Shizuo!

They were doing other kinds of training too. At least, I'm pretty sure I saw people physically training.

[ Ah- He wasn't expecting the kid to ask for that. Making them is no problem, sure, but it's embarrassing (though unsurprising in his mind) how weak it is. Though he's making the gesture, saying 'line' and seems to be successful in making a borderline almost effortlessly. ]

See? Same as ever. Ah, though you might have trouble seeing it...

Yeah but you can still do it. If you do it lots, I bet it will get stronger. Maybe you just gotta do it alot alot!

[Goten looks at the line thoughtfully.]

What do you think about when you draw a line?

I mean, I practice pretty often...

[ Does it really count if you're dozing off, though? ]

Hah? No one said I was supposed to be thinking something in particular. I don't really think- I just make them.

Maybe that's why. I donno if you gotta think but Yukine is the best shinki around. He's been showing me how to make borderlines and stuff.

[Goten crosses his arms ontop of Shizuo's head, resting his chin there.]

I really got to think before I make a borderline otherwise I make Chi blasts. Try thinking about protecting someone you really like. You gotta draw a line between them and whatever is trying to hurt them.

[ He's not sure that his head's the most comfortable, but Shizuo's not gonna stop the kid. ]

I... Don't think I have that kind of imagination for this kind of practice.

[ That's not completely accurate, but there were two problems. He can't make up a threat, and most people he ~~liked~~ knew would also be able to handle themselves way better than what he could manage. ]

What do you mean? Just think about your god or Izumo. They need your help from a big mean ayakashi that wants to eat them and only your borderline can protect them.

[Shizuo don't make this so hard, Goten pouts lightly. He bounces once on Shizuo's shoulders]

C'mon.

... Izumo is more than capable of making lines and fighting.

[ Says the man that's completely missing the point. But at the boy's bounce on his shoulders, the blond gives a noticeable sigh.

Yet even as he makes the line, it's clear that he's not able to think of the scenario as the result is exactly the same as all the other times. It's probably the word 'practice' that's stuck in his head, or the lack of confidence or ever really getting better, or something else preventing it. But these aren't exactly the best people to figure that out. ]

Sorry kid.

Shizuo....

[Goten frowns down at him. This isn't working, maybe finding an ayakashi really is the only way to do this. But even then it's not like he could put Izumo or Shizuo's god in danger. All this thinking is making his own head hurt.

With a sigh, he sits up a bit and ruffles Shizuo's blond hair with both hands]

It's okay, Shizuo. A lot of people have a hard time with borderlines. You'll get it, it just might take awhile or you need the right moment.

[ It kinda sucks when you're turning into more and more of a disappointment to a kid that might possibly look up to you. Then again, Shizuo isn't sure that he should in the first place. There was one 'truth' that the blond had come to accept of himself pretty early, especially with all of this borderline stuff. ]

Either way, not everyone can be good at this stuff, yeah? It might be that I'm just not made for this.

You'll get it. Don't beat yourself up, Shizuo! Izumo and me can do that for you in training.

[Goten grins playfully at him. If anything, he just wants to help Shizuo out. What he can and can't do doesn't matter to Goten. Except the holding back thing. That's still dumb]

I'm better at punching stuff too. The only problem with that is that if you touch an ayakashi with your bare hands you get blighted. I picked up one by the tail before and it really hurt.

Hah? I'm not beating myself up. It's honestly possible that this is the extent of what I can do.

[ Well, he really is, but the guy doesn't see it like that. It's harder to get him to listen to reason after presenting no-confidence thoughts as if they were facts.

Also, isn't there supposed to be more to training than trying to beat him up? ]

So I just gotta keep my hands covered, yeah? It'd be weird during the summer, but I can figure something out.

I don't so. You just need to practice. I'll help you, Shizuo!

[It'll be fine. It'll be fun. You're his frined, Shizuo, no way is Goten giving up on your borderlines like that.] Maybe you'd have better luck with a spell....but that's mostly for using on other shinki. I donno if you ever get into fights with other shinki though.

[Goten wiggles his feet a bit. Shizuo's shoulders are surprisingly comfortable, he might just sit up here all day.]

Mmmhm! I try to remember to bring gloves but sometimes it's hard to. As long as you don't touch an ayakashi with your skin I think you're fine. I like punching to so that's the only way I can...

[Actually...]

Shizuo, what do you turn into?

[ He's not going to argue with a kid. There's not much he's wrong about on what to do, but the results are where things differ. The man's got himself stuck into a loop. So he continues on with the other things Goten says. ]

Usually not. There's only one shinki that's really been causing problems that we know about, and that's the one that wrecked the bar. Aren't spells supposed to be harder to learn anyway?

Ah? These, actually.

[ Shizuo pulls his sunglasses off and holds them upwards for Goten to see. Though really, it's not as if he hasn't seen them before, given it's another common style. At least he seems to take Goten using his shoulders as a resting spot pretty well- though he'd be surprised to learn that he was comfy to rest on. ]

uh, I donno. I the spells I learned were way easier then a borderline...at least I think so. I know three!

[He smiles proudly. He does his best okay? So when it pays off it feels really good.]

Who wrecked the bar? Izumo never told me!

[But his attention is taken by the sunglasses Shizuo holds up for him to see.]

You turn into glasses!

[ It wasn't hard to keep to himself, but Shizuo figured that if Goten wanted to learn how to do something, it would be easy for him to do so. It sounded like the only challenge to borderlines is that they worked similar to those chi shots. Not that it wouldn't be a lot of hard work, but he could still accomplish it pretty well. Kids were supposed to pick those things up easy, right?

With Goten sufficiently distracted by his sunglasses, knowing that Izumo didn't tell the boy said quite a bit on its own. Don't let him know- Actually, Shizuo wouldn't want the kid to get into a fight with that brat.

There's been enough physical and property damage lately. ]

Yup. Exactly like these. Not the most impressive, but it'll keep Yona's hands free for whatever the other new shinki turn into.

[Goten reaches out, trying to grab the sunglasses with his own hands. He's always seen them on Shizuo's face but he's never really looked at them.]

I think it's cool. Do you have a power or something? I know some shinki do when they turn into something? I wanna met Yona sometime too. Are her other shinki nice?

[ He'll let Goten get the glasses and get a much closer look. They're similar enough that people would think his and Izumo's were the same, but there were enough differences that the lookalikes didn't get them mixed up. ]

We'll probably figure all that later. She and I haven't tested it out, and I haven't met her other shinki to know if they're nice.

[ Well, he has actually. They just didn't know it yet. ]

Ah, and if you ever want to meet her, the temple's there.

[ He'll point at a particular mountain that clearly has some kind of structure at the top of it. The structure being a living quarters that could house a small town, probably. Actually, it probably has. ]

[Goten takes the glasses carefully, looking them over and turning them over in his hands before grinning and putting them on. They're a little big but he laughs all the same.]

How do you see like this? It's dark!

[The concept for sunglasses is lost on him. He's outside most of the time in the sun and very has needed them. Still, for some reason they make him feel cooler. Maybe its because Izumo and Shizuo always wear them?]

When you figure it out, let me know. I wanna know! I bet its awesome.

[But he does look in the direction he points, at the mountain.]

I can fly there easy!

You get used to them.

[ It's the best explanation he has- which is why he wears them indoors as well. You just get used to everything being dimmer and looking a little purple. Which is especially nice when the sun's bright enough to obscure your vision. ]

Ah... Yeah. I'll try to remember to tell you.

[ He doesn't know about awesome, but there are some things you don't argue about with a seven year old. ]

You can fly to most places pretty easily. Usually I take the shortcut and teleport because of how many stairs you have to use otherwise. So it's probably best that you can fly.

It's still so dark.

[Perk!]

If I can figure out that blonde thing and get sunglasses then I'd be like you and Izumo.

[He laughs a bit, taking the sunglasses off and holds them infront of Shizuo's face, waving them from side to side for him to grab.]

Oh, I guess you're right. I haven't found a place I can't fly to yet.

There's other ways to become blond, you know.

[ Ways that aren't potentially dangerous, given the way Goten had turned blond before. Casually and gently taking the sunglasses back as they're waved in front of his face, Shizuo folds up and pockets them again. ]

You can add that as your slogan... The Goten Express, yeah?

There are?

[He's curious now, not that he'd really go through the trouble and he'd have to ask Aymeric and Izumo if he ever really wanted to do it.

But that last comment draws out a HUGE smile! Goten nods quickly.]

YEAH! Anytime you wanna fly, lemme know!

Yeah. It takes a bit of time, but is easy enough to do.

[ Though... Really, Goten might be a little young for that option. ]

Thanks. I'll, uh, keep it in mind.

[ It's not about being afraid- he clearly has no trouble with Goten's flying. Shizuo usually doesn't ask for that kind of thing though. Last time it was a case of Goten being that excited to see Izumo. ]
