Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods (although there's none this time) and shinki



The product of many meetings and recommendations, at last it has taken shape. On this day, in anticipation of the new arrivals who appear in a recognized pattern, Heaven has partnered with the new gods and shinki to organize a very helpful informational reception.

The shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided kindly towards Bishamon's temple. And in that vast complex they are brought to a traditional-style dojo.
Here the newly arrived gods are gathered, so finding their partner is more simple. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the aspects of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki, or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.




God Training

Bishamon herself, as well as Amaterasu's ever-present shinki and any volunteering gods, will be the foremost source of information regarding being a god and what is expected of them, such as prayers. It is encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Newly arrived gods are still expected to communicate to their shinki the information* they themselves get oriented with when they arrive.

Shinki Training

Various volunteers are stationed around the building, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. There are many shinki, including Bishamon's and Amaterasu's, who will be more than happy to train in using the borderline and some of the basics of what is expected of a shinki. It is encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Bishamon's lead shinki Kazuma offers a lecture to new arrivals that will thoroughly cover some essential points about teamwork with both shinki and other gods.

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern. There are volunteers here as well, willing to assist in basic training. (Or even more advanced sparring, depending on the volunteer.) Essential for gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes.
Also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.

Rest and Refreshments

There is a garden off the dojo that is free to be used for rest and conversation.
Should anyone wander outside the designated area, some shinki of Bishamon's will attach themselves to them and not leave them be until they return to the dojo.

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're just taking a quick break to cool down. Even hand towels are provided by Bishamon's helpful shinki. The Heavens wants everyone to stay in good condition!

Shinki training;

[ With pamphlet in one hand, eyes focused on the information printed on it, Chise's free hand was making a swiping motion similar to what was instructed. She was standing off to the side from the others that were training. She seemed to be entirely focused on making sure she was reading every line correctly so if anyone tried talking to her, they would have to speak up a little to break her concentration. ]

Physical Training;

[ One look at Chise would tell anyone she was not the sort for actual combat or fighting. But seeing as she had a duty to uphold as a shinki, she was determined to learn and understand everything there was to know about it. Having spent a good amount of time going over the information pamphlet earlier and practicing what it instructed, she decided to have a look around.

As she wandered about the dojo, she paused every now and again to either observe others that were training, or to get a closer look at the weapons that were on display for said practice. ]

[The young shinki is watching the training and sparring matches with an intent gaze, but, Hakkai notices, every time his gaze crosses her she doesn't seem to be participating in any.

He clears his throat politely to get her attention as he approaches.]

Excuse me! Is there something you'd like to learn?

[She doesn't look much like a fighter, but looks can sometimes be deceiving.]

[ Whoops. A sheepish smile accompanied the nervous chuckle as she rubbed the back of her neck. ]

I... I'm not sure where to even start, I guess. This is all new to me.

[ Sorry, Hakkai. She is the ultimate green leaf newcomer. ]

[... oh dear. He smiles, with a touch of sympathy.]

I see! And - [he gives her a quick once-over. There's a flash of a red character visible on her hand as she rubs the back of her neck.] have you had a chance to talk to your god yet?

[ Chise gave a quick nod of her head in confirmation, her memory flittering back to her meeting Zeno earlier that day. ] Mhm. He told me a little about what my job is as a shinki but I figured I should come here to understand it better, once I learned about it that is.

Well, then! That's a good start.

[He beams cheerfully at her.] Not every shinki has to fight, you know. What's your other form?

[slayvega]

My other form... [ She paused for a moment, before the realization clicked. ] Oh. Ah... I don't know. At least, not yet anyway.

Well, then, when you have the chance to find out, it may help you to learn some techniques with that weapon! Ah -- or other object, as the case may be.

My first form was a sword, and I worked with a sword master for a time to help understand what proper technique might look like for me.

[ The red head, realizing that she was in the way, took a hop to the side to give this lady room. her hands went up, as if defensively, but her smile was an apologetic one. ]

Sorry!

[ And now for the awkward shrug, once again glancing at the other weapons. ] ... A while longer, I think. [ What do. ]

[Huh. That's more jumpy than she was expecting.]

Uh, well. What're you good at?

[She shoulders the metal pole she reached for.] I don't know how to use this, either; I figured I'd try it. [Make fun of an old teammate that used to use it, she means, which is why she sounds so amused when saying that last part.]

[ What was she good at? She looked to the weapons display once more before she shrugged her shoulders a second time, looking utterly lost about all of this. ]

I don’t know. I've never used anything like what's here before...

Physical training!

[Ayumu doesn't want to fight or really begin her training in earnest until she's had a little time to adjust but that doesn't mean she can't wander around a little. She notices the girl standing by the weapons and quietly walks up beside her.]

I think those might be easiest for you to handle.

[She points to a set of small, light throwing knives.]

[ Chise had been looking at a sword curiously, but when she realized that someone was speaking to her, her attention shifted to the lady instead. She blinked once, then twice, looking from her to the throwing knives. ]

Do you really think so?

I do. It'll probably take lots of practice to get really good with them but they're light and easy to conceal and carry.

[Ayumu picks one up, testing its balance and weight. It's pretty light, just as she'd thought. After a moment, she turns it in her hand and holds it out to the girl handle first.]

Try holding it. It'll be hard to take down an opponent permanently with it unless there's something on it. But you could use it to distract them while you get away.

[ Though it was by the handle, Chise took deliberate and slow care in accepting the knife held out to her. Holding it in a tight gripe she turned it this way and that to examine it. ]

... It really doesn't feel like it weighs much at all.

It doesn't. So if you want to take someone out, you'll need to poison it first.

[Ayumu smiles cheerfully and helpfully, like an older sister to a younger sibling and this is a perfectly natural conversation to have with someone she just met.]

Or like I said, you can just throw it and run!

[ The thought of taking someone out is one that never really crossed her mind before, if the unsure look on her face was anything to go by.

But she did have a point. Hah. And Chise appreciated it. She passed the knife from one hand to the other as she examined it closely. ]

So, it could work as distraction of sorts... that would be useful...

It is.

[Just how Ayumu came by this knowledge is a mystery but she has it.]

I imagine there's other thing you could put on a blade, too. Stuff to cause dizziness or numbing which would make it easier to incapicitate them after closing in.

[She smiles a bit.]

I don't know how well they'd work against ayakashi but they're still useful tricks to know just in case.

[ And Chise was soaking up all this information like a sponge, nodding her head all the while. All of the other weapons she had looked at were rather intimidating and she couldn't see herself using them.

But the knives in her hand, while she still remained unsure about them, the logic Ayumu was providing for her did make the most sense. ]

Maybe Zeno will know the answer to that. I'll have to ask him later.

[ After a beat she realized that, whoops-- where were her manners? ]

My name is Chise, by the way.

Shinki training

[Kaya had been informed of the situation by Zeno, and she goes to Bishamon's temple to meet her new partner of sorts. The hall is familiar, as she's trained there before. She has yet to make real progress, but a lot has happened since the first time she's been here.

It's not hard to find the girl. Hair as red as Yona. Cute. Yes, that seemed to be the one she's looking for.

Gently, she taps Chise's shoulder. Kaya's smiling in a calm way, but in reality she's a little nervous. Hopefully they can get along!]

Sorry, hello? You're Chise, right? Um, my name is Kaya and I'm Zeno's other shinki. It's very nice to meet you!

[slayvega]

[ When she felt the tap on her shoulder, she turned, blinking in surprise. Needless to say she had not expected to hear her name spoken by someone else seeing as she had arrived so recently.

Her expression softened into a smile at the explanation and she bowed her head in greeting. ]

Yes, that's me! Zeno told me about you when he greeted me. It's really good to meet you too, Kaya.

[fadingsunshine]

[A bit nervously, Kaya leans to give Chise a quick hug. Not too long or tight since she doesn't know if she likes them, but she wants the girl to feel more like she's a part of a family now.]

I'm glad! If you have any questions, you can ask me too since Zeno... well, he's not very good at explaining things or even talking. Other people had to explain to me most of the important stuff when I arrived here a month ago. But he's really kind and warm, so you don't have to think of him as a superior. Gods are like you or me, but with more responsibility to help others, I think? Some people don't agree, though...

Uh, anyway! I also need to learn Borderline so we can practice together! I'm still working on that.

[ Sudden hugs are, apparently, a thing with both Kaya and Zeno, but this red head was not opposed to them and did not shy away from the other girl. Her smile grew as she chuckled softly. The warm welcome from both were helping her to adjust to her new home. ]

I appreciate it. I have a lot of questions, but I'm sure that training here might help answer some of them.

[ She glances down at the pamphlet once more, her eyes glancing over the information about said borderlines.</small. ] I was just reading about that and practicing the hand motions.

A friend taught me those. But it seems you also really need willpower or something for them to work. But at least I'm getting better at the hand part! They go like this:

[She moves them and shows the right way to draw the line in the air. Nothing happens, but they seem to fit the pamphlet's steps almost perfectly.]

I'm not a fighting shinki, to be honest. My vessel is a scarf and my power is making plants grow. So to me it's important to get Borderline down so Zeno doesn't have to protect me with his shield.
