May Training

Who: Everyone
What: Information and Training
When: July 15
Where: Bishamon's temple, the Far Shore
Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods (although there's none this time) and shinki

The product of many meetings and recommendations, at last it has taken shape. On this day, in anticipation of the new arrivals who appear in a recognized pattern, Heaven has partnered with the new gods and shinki to organize a very helpful informational reception.

The shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided kindly towards Bishamon's temple. And in that vast complex they are brought to a traditional-style dojo.
Here the newly arrived gods are gathered, so finding their partner is more simple. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the aspects of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki, or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.

God Training

Bishamon herself, as well as Amaterasu's ever-present shinki and any volunteering gods, will be the foremost source of information regarding being a god and what is expected of them, such as prayers. It is encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Newly arrived gods are still expected to communicate to their shinki the information* they themselves get oriented with when they arrive.

Shinki Training

Various volunteers are stationed around the building, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. There are many shinki, including Bishamon's and Amaterasu's, who will be more than happy to train in using the borderline and some of the basics of what is expected of a shinki. It is encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Bishamon's lead shinki Kazuma offers a lecture to new arrivals that will thoroughly cover some essential points about teamwork with both shinki and other gods.

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern. There are volunteers here as well, willing to assist in basic training. (Or even more advanced sparring, depending on the volunteer.) Essential for gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes.
Also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.

Rest and Refreshments

There is a garden off the dojo that is free to be used for rest and conversation.
Should anyone wander outside the designated area, some shinki of Bishamon's will attach themselves to them and not leave them be until they return to the dojo.

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're just taking a quick break to cool down. Even hand towels are provided by Bishamon's helpful shinki. The Heavens wants everyone to stay in good condition!

In Summary:
  • Get all the information you can handle
  • Veteran new gods and shinki are welcome to volunteer showing the ropes
  • Get in some training
  • Don't get dehydrated
  • Spectate if you want
  • Have fun~

[Kairi nods as she sits down. She too has broken a sweat, and she's even dressed for exercise in long bike shorts, a loose skirt over it, and a tank top.]

I think I'm guaranteed to get myself super worked up any time Lady Bishamon lets us come here for training.

[But she gives him a smile anyway.]

My name's Kairi. Nice to meet you.

I am Munakata Reisi. It's nice to make your acquaintance, Kairi.

[In spite of training in the dojo earlier, Reisi doesn't look or even feel tired in the slightest. Instead he pleasantly smiles back in return before gesturing to a nearby seat.]

It's good to see gods and shinki alike working hard. It also seems as though this isn't your first time here. How long have you been around?
pure_radiantics: (convo] you're so silly!)

Haha... got me! It's my second time here at Lady Bishamon's. But I've been here since, ah... May 16th? So two months now!

[She offers a hand to shake since he doesn't seem like the hugging type.]

It's very nice to meet you, Reisi. Which have you been training with then, gods or shinki?

[Since a last name doesn't really indicate anything, she's found. Of course, if he's a shinki - he doesn't look like he's all that sweaty, so maybe he'll be interested in training again in a moment.]

[He'd probably think it inappropriate to hug a young lady who may be a decade younger than him anyway. On their first meeting, no less. He properly takes her hand and gives it two firm shakes before releasing. The gesture, while polite, seems practiced and businesslike yet not entirely impersonal.]

I've been training with shinki.

[His high collar and cravat cover most but not all of his name.]

Perhaps I'll return for more in a little bit. [Though the only reason he's here is someone urged him to take a break.] What about you?
pure_radiantics: (convo] bright laughter)

[personal profile] pure_radiantics 2017-05-28 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
Ah! I'm a shinki too!

[She lights up upon hearing that he's a shinki.]

That's the main reason I wanted to know. There's a lot of things that shinki can talk about easier with other shinki. I have a lot of friends who are gods, but with newer people they sometimes feel that way.

['Friends' does get a little extra smile from her and a little laugh too... because she's dating a god after all. She's not lying about how newer shinki seem to struggle with talking to gods that aren't their own, though.]

[He ponders the difference between gods and shinki as he smiles pleasantly in return.]

In general, it's easier for those on common ground to speak with one another.

[They're fundamentally the same, aren't they? The Heavens seem to need them, and they in turn need each other to fulfill their responsibilities. However, they don't have equal standing; the shinki is still more akin to an assistant or servant.

Since Kairi has been here longer, Reisi figures he might as well ask.
]

What are some things shinki find easier to talk about with each other?
pure_radiantics: (convo] unsure)

Mmm... Definitely that one-way bond with your god, for starters. [She holds up her index finger to start counting.]

How our gods can feel when we're super happy or super sad or guilty, but we don't know how they're feeling. I'm not saying it's something I want, really... but it's all lopsided when it comes to trying to make friends with your god.

[She holds up her second finger.]

And the gods can remember their pasts, so they get homesick a lot or miss things about their home more often than shinki do, I think.

[Then her third finger.]

And I think the other big one is what happens if your god disappears. There's a lot that changes very quickly.

[Munakata regards the girl with a composed and analytical expression as she ticks off the points.

He frowns a little about the one-way bond. By nature, Reisi is something of a private person who generally doesn't mind how others perceive him. But the idea of a god knowing his actual emotions is slightly unsettling.

Homesickness is a sense of longing for familiar people, places, and things of the past, isn't it? He wonders if he's ever felt homesick before...

That third point, however, elicits an interested and slightly concerned reaction.
]

I see. Do gods and shinki disappear often?
pure_radiantics: (convo] huh... let me think about that.)

[personal profile] pure_radiantics 2017-06-14 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
Well... I think it's harder to know when shinki disappear, honestly. I try to meet a lot of them. Sometimes I'm not sure if I'll see them again and they've just been keeping quiet in their new temple, or that sort of thing.

Meanwhile, when a god disappears, their whole temple disappears too. [She's not happy as she explains that.] So for a shinki... they've lost their new home, their... friend or master or something, someone you had a close bond with. Even if it was forced. A lot of shinki end up staying close with any shinki they had before, but sometimes they get assigned to different gods... so it probably feels like a family getting split up. And they've lost their belongings too, any sort of tie they had to this place when that's kind of all we have right now.

[She's had several friends express all of these things on the BBS after they lose their god.]

A god may feel some of that sadness when a shinki disappears, but because their temple stays... they can deal with those feelings however they need to. And we may never find out about it.

[Although it's quite the somber topic, Reisi couldn't help asking about it. As such, he takes it all in and processes it as she speaks. By the end of it, he pushes his glasses up the bridge of his nose, but his hand lingers for a little longer as he considers his reaction.]

Hmm. That does seem quite difficult... [Said with a small frown.

He doesn't like it, but he feels very used to loneliness. The idea of such connections being torn asunder is unpleasant, but it simply seems a part of life... and the afterlife as well.

There's no point dwelling on that note for too long.
]

Thank you for answering me; you've been very helpful. Come to think of it, you're listed as one of the contacts in the pamphlet, correct?

[Because he's the sort to read things like that.]
pure_radiantics: (convo] all smiles)

[personal profile] pure_radiantics 2017-07-17 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
[She appreciates him listening and considering her words, as well as the slight topic change.]

No problem. I don't mind answering whatever I can, especially for new shinki. That's why I didn't hesitate when Izuku asked me if I minded my number being added to the pamphlet. He's not a shinki, by the way, but he's very smart and was really helpful too. He listened to what a lot of shinki had to say and put it all together in that pamphlet.

Do you have any other questions for now, by the way?

[She kicks her feet a little in anticipation.]
