Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods (although there's none this time) and shinki



The product of many meetings and recommendations, at last it has taken shape. On this day, in anticipation of the new arrivals who appear in a recognized pattern, Heaven has partnered with the new gods and shinki to organize a very helpful informational reception.

The shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided kindly towards Bishamon's temple. And in that vast complex they are brought to a traditional-style dojo.
Here the newly arrived gods are gathered, so finding their partner is more simple. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the aspects of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki, or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.




God Training

Bishamon herself, as well as Amaterasu's ever-present shinki and any volunteering gods, will be the foremost source of information regarding being a god and what is expected of them, such as prayers. It is encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Newly arrived gods are still expected to communicate to their shinki the information* they themselves get oriented with when they arrive.

Shinki Training

Various volunteers are stationed around the building, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. There are many shinki, including Bishamon's and Amaterasu's, who will be more than happy to train in using the borderline and some of the basics of what is expected of a shinki. It is encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Bishamon's lead shinki Kazuma offers a lecture to new arrivals that will thoroughly cover some essential points about teamwork with both shinki and other gods.

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern. There are volunteers here as well, willing to assist in basic training. (Or even more advanced sparring, depending on the volunteer.) Essential for gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes.
Also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.

Rest and Refreshments

There is a garden off the dojo that is free to be used for rest and conversation.
Should anyone wander outside the designated area, some shinki of Bishamon's will attach themselves to them and not leave them be until they return to the dojo.

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're just taking a quick break to cool down. Even hand towels are provided by Bishamon's helpful shinki. The Heavens wants everyone to stay in good condition!

Incredibly adorable, absolutely! Absolutely!

[Zeno calls over from his hiding spot. He spies on these occasionally, but never goes to train himself. Eventually, he'll let Kaya convince him -- especially if it involves kisses -- but this is not that day.

Rather, he'd felt the Green and Blue Dragons return, and couldn't help himself. Ryokuryuu was incredibly cute-looking, with his jewel-colored eyes and his insistence on acting cooler than he was. He deserved all the positive reinforcement in the world, the heavens, and everywhere in between!]

[While Jae-Ha isn't about to argue with someone agreeing with him so readily, he can't help but smirk as he turns in Zeno's direction, canting his head to one side as he rests a hand against his hip.]

You have good taste. Unfortunately, you're not quite my type-- sorry to have to break it to you.

[Happily so. It's not that kind of cute he means... but Jae-Ha doesn't need to know that.]

But you'd still let Zeno be friends, right?

[He feels that old familiar yearning for the connection between the ancient dragon brothers. Wonders if Jae-Ha has paid it any mind. He's so pleased. Since Jae-Ha left before... getting more time to spend with him, this is like a second second chance! More precious than gold!]

You need those when you're new, yeah?

[Yes, best not to elaborate and risk injuring his pride.]

I suppose I could always do with a few more of those.

[He offers a wry but lopsided smile-- and for reasons he can't explain, he feels compelled to accept the offer, as though this were the natural way of things. Was that simply the way things were for shinki? Were they meant to feel drawn to the people around them, to inspire loyalty?]

You're a god, aren't you? I didn't think gods were inclined to be 'friends' with shinki.

Aah. A secret, if you will, about the gods here.

[He beckons Jae-Ha down, give me your ear!]

Few were ever gods before, at least in their own minds. One of Zeno's own shinki says we're not like gods to her at all. Just people who remember their lives.

[But he chuckles fondly as he recounts that, clearly thinking it's a little naive. But then, most ideal things are.]

But everyone's inclinations are different, and Zeno thinks you're adorable, and we serve the same god, so that's all there is to it!

[leapinglizard]

[Jae-Ha leans in as beckoned, a smile pulling at one side of his mouth as Zeno explains. Ah.]

I see. Though in the future, I do prefer beautiful to adorable.

[A brief pause as he straightens, curious.]

We serve the same god? If you're a god as well, shouldn't that make you equals? I thought only shinki were meant to serve.

[And that preference is, itself, a d o r a b l e. Zeno politely ignores the request.]

Gods have hierarchies like anything else. Anyway, a god's actions are always just! Zeno does as is pleasing.

[Rude, Zeno, there's nothing polite about that.]

I should hope they're always just. Even if I'm only a shinki, I wouldn't stand for anything else.

[Zeno quietly chuckles, and for once, explains himself more thoroughly. He wants Jae-Ha's eyes and ears to be open.]

Different meanings of 'always.' It isn't so much that gods act justly always, but every act is always just.

[He pauses, trying to emphasize the point.]

Every one. Always.

[He smiles, as if to add, 'no matter what.']

[He narrows his eyes curiously. It doesn't quite resonate with him, but it does pique his interest.]

I'm not sure I follow you.

That is to say, if one of these gods were to swat you with a broomstick, by their logic, that is just, because a god is always just.

[He pauses so that can sink in.]

Luckily, Zeno has not met a god quite that petty [Yet.]

[One eye squints a little further. Ah.]

Their perception of what's just doesn't make it true-- but it's good to hear you haven't heard of any abuses of power.

[At least that's the way he's made it sound. Jae-Ha isn't quite willing to believe those abuses don't happen, though.]

It doesn't make it true. But if they believe it is, who will tell them otherwise?

[He never stops smiling, but...]

That is to say, who can make them listen? It would have to be their shinki, whose sense of right and wrong is more... human.

And are there many gods who value what their shinki have to say, or are you and Yona-chan in the minority?

[He's honestly curious, though his tone speaks heavily of doubt.]

No one is all one way all the time...!

[Human nature is to be fickle, and gods have more leeway in that regard.]

There are those who want to protect the shinki from bad gods. But Zeno believes this to be the sort of thing that you will have to see for yourself, and not be told about. Like anything between two people, what happens where they can be seen isn't always what happens where they can't be.

[Even without his memories intact, that much resonates as being true.]

Yay! That makes it a promise!

[Nothing would make him happier, truly. He offers a whirl of a bow, but doesn't want to press his welcome. But he blesses his good fortune, not only to spend more time with Jae-Ha despite his all-too-soon death, but to have him with Yona, as well. He'd already trusted Yona with the children's happiness, and in this place, that's all the more important.]
