Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods (although there's none this time) and shinki



The product of many meetings and recommendations, at last it has taken shape. On this day, in anticipation of the new arrivals who appear in a recognized pattern, Heaven has partnered with the new gods and shinki to organize a very helpful informational reception.

The shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided kindly towards Bishamon's temple. And in that vast complex they are brought to a traditional-style dojo.
Here the newly arrived gods are gathered, so finding their partner is more simple. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the aspects of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki, or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.




God Training

Bishamon herself, as well as Amaterasu's ever-present shinki and any volunteering gods, will be the foremost source of information regarding being a god and what is expected of them, such as prayers. It is encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Newly arrived gods are still expected to communicate to their shinki the information* they themselves get oriented with when they arrive.

Shinki Training

Various volunteers are stationed around the building, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. There are many shinki, including Bishamon's and Amaterasu's, who will be more than happy to train in using the borderline and some of the basics of what is expected of a shinki. It is encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Bishamon's lead shinki Kazuma offers a lecture to new arrivals that will thoroughly cover some essential points about teamwork with both shinki and other gods.

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern. There are volunteers here as well, willing to assist in basic training. (Or even more advanced sparring, depending on the volunteer.) Essential for gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes.
Also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.

Rest and Refreshments

There is a garden off the dojo that is free to be used for rest and conversation.
Should anyone wander outside the designated area, some shinki of Bishamon's will attach themselves to them and not leave them be until they return to the dojo.

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're just taking a quick break to cool down. Even hand towels are provided by Bishamon's helpful shinki. The Heavens wants everyone to stay in good condition!

Hey, you were already pretty helpful as a shinki. [ Hakkai might be a little off-kilter, but Sanada has yet to run into an adult (or, indeed, even most guys his age) as friendly and helpful as this guy is. ]

Speaking of— [ He takes a look around. ] —I’m guessing you didn’t bring Asshole with you? How is he, anyway?

I haven't seen him in a few days. He was at Yuri's temple when I left, and they brought me here as soon as they finished answering my questions...

Come to think of it, I may ask him if he would mind me naming him, now that it's possible.

[It'd make Asshole safer in the long run.

And, honestly, he's curious about how Banri died.]

[ Doesn’t sound like anyone he’s familiar with, but that’s not going to bother him. ]

So what’re you gonna call him? [ It’s probably not going to be as funny as “Asshole,” he figures, but it’s better for the guy in the long run… ]

I haven't decided yet. Although I may leave him with the name he prefers for his youkai shape.

It would seem a little cruel to change that, don't you think? When we've gotten to keep our names all along?

[And there's no doubt that 'Asshole' prefers that name. He'd ignored Gojyo's attempts to rename him, and wouldn't respond to anything else when Hakkai tried to talk to him about it, either.

And it is a little amusing.]

So he really likes that one? [ That’s…interesting. Asshole you are truly an enigma. ]

Heh, what a funny guy. I mean, I guess it’s sorta fitting for a demon, but… [ What can he say? Asshole never struck him as…that. ]

Do you think it is, really?

[Tread carefully, Shunpei. You're talking to a demon.

Hakkai's smile is a little too bright for a moment before he shrugs.]

-- It's hard to say what he likes, but he's stubborn about not answering to anything else, so it seems he does.

[ A demon with a somewhat unnerving smile, he realizes. ]

Well, if it makes him happy. [ Is the guy even capable of being happy? ] But I figure demons probably don’t care a whole lot about what people think about them anyway.

[ And he’s watching Hakkai carefully as he says it. Is he going to get chewed out for this, he wonders. ]

[Hakkai knows exactly how to make his smile terrifying, but he's not going to be too harsh with this kid, even if Shunpei does seem to be trying to deliberately provoke him.

Instead, he just raises his eyebrows.]

My. I didn't realize you'd met any demons before me.

[You're getting the chance for a few strikes before the lecture begins: use it wisely while you're at bat, kid.]

[ It’s the bottom of the inning and the bases are loaded. Bring it. ]

Are demons always this complicated? [ And there’s that shit-eating grin. ]

[Some people might object to this level of sass, but, really, Hakkai can't help but laugh. At least Sanada has guts!

He spreads his hands in an innocent little gesture.]

Why, it's almost like we're people too.

[ Bless Hakkai for even tolerating that much ]

And you’re pretty interesting people, at that. [ Which is…all that this boils down to for him, really. ]

I can't speak for any other youkai... but I try.

[A quick smirk, and he ducks his head politely.]

-- In any case, I have a shinki I need to find, but it's good seeing you again, Sanada. I'll see you at the school, I imagine?
