May Training

Who: Everyone
What: Information and Training
When: July 15
Where: Bishamon's temple, the Far Shore
Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods (although there's none this time) and shinki

The product of many meetings and recommendations, at last it has taken shape. On this day, in anticipation of the new arrivals who appear in a recognized pattern, Heaven has partnered with the new gods and shinki to organize a very helpful informational reception.

The shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided kindly towards Bishamon's temple. And in that vast complex they are brought to a traditional-style dojo.
Here the newly arrived gods are gathered, so finding their partner is more simple. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the aspects of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki, or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.

God Training

Bishamon herself, as well as Amaterasu's ever-present shinki and any volunteering gods, will be the foremost source of information regarding being a god and what is expected of them, such as prayers. It is encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Newly arrived gods are still expected to communicate to their shinki the information* they themselves get oriented with when they arrive.

Shinki Training

Various volunteers are stationed around the building, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. There are many shinki, including Bishamon's and Amaterasu's, who will be more than happy to train in using the borderline and some of the basics of what is expected of a shinki. It is encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Bishamon's lead shinki Kazuma offers a lecture to new arrivals that will thoroughly cover some essential points about teamwork with both shinki and other gods.

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern. There are volunteers here as well, willing to assist in basic training. (Or even more advanced sparring, depending on the volunteer.) Essential for gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes.
Also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.

Rest and Refreshments

There is a garden off the dojo that is free to be used for rest and conversation.
Should anyone wander outside the designated area, some shinki of Bishamon's will attach themselves to them and not leave them be until they return to the dojo.

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're just taking a quick break to cool down. Even hand towels are provided by Bishamon's helpful shinki. The Heavens wants everyone to stay in good condition!

In Summary:
  • Get all the information you can handle
  • Veteran new gods and shinki are welcome to volunteer showing the ropes
  • Get in some training
  • Don't get dehydrated
  • Spectate if you want
  • Have fun~

[Sweet? Well, he's not sure he has it in him to refute that, though he much prefers charming.]

You've done nothing wrong.

[He shakes his head, discouraging her from that line of thought.]

As for my god, apparently I'm meant to serve Aine.

[Serve. Not a word he's fond of in this context, but there's no denying that the situation is what it is.]
pure_radiantics: (convo] huh... let me think about that.)

Aine...

[Kairi thinks about that for a second. Does she know Aine? She pulls out her phone anyway to look through her contacts.]

I don't know an Aine, I don't think...

[Then she gets down to Yona's and a memory resurfaces - she checks the Contact's Memo section and, sure enough, it lists Yona's god name there.]

Do you mean Áine? [She puts the emphasis a little differently.] I know her! She's super nice, you should be fine with her. Not a task-master sort at all.

Is that how it's said?

[To be perfectly honest, he hadn't been paying very close attention.]

Well. That's comforting.

You could use your phone to call her? Or mine. I could introduce you...?

[She's not sure if that sounds weird. Some people are really different in front of strangers versus friends and, despite her stumbling over everything, she wants to believe Jae-Ha understands that she sees him as a friend... so naturally she's willing to go out of her way for him.

And if she already knows this god of his, why not try it?]

I even know where her temple is! I went flying by it the other day.

[She forgets to add context to that 'flying' bit.]

I appreciate the offer, but if I'm being perfectly honest, I'm not quite ready for that particular meeting just yet.

[Even if the goddess in question is said to be kind. He smiles all the same, as if to offer Kairi reassurance.]

I think I need just a bit more time to collect myself first-- I can't afford to be at anything less than my best for such an important introduction, after all.

[Right. That's it. It has nothing to do with how the very thought of the word 'master' makes his heart beat faster in his chest, threatening panic.]
pure_radiantics: (convo] ready to go)

No I understand. I just wanted to offer anyway - because some people might take me up on it. I don't mind if you think you have it sorted out for yourself, though.

[After all, he's slightly older than her, so she can guess that maybe - even as a shinki - he's had a bit more time to settle into his own personality than someone her own age who is still unsure of themselves.]

And even if you're not really 'at your best' ... don't worry, Yona will understand. Maybe not every god would, but she will. Even if you wait a little bit longer, I bet.

[She's trying to be reassuring.]

So, hmm... instead of meeting your god, is there something else you'd like to work on today or is it a bit much already? I know some people are here to learn about Borderlines.

Actually, that's an excellent point. What is a Borderline, exactly?

[There's a lot to take in here, after all, and he's more than happy to take Kairi up on at least part of her offer.]

It's how we protect ourselves and our gods. It's like... this wall you can half see through, if you want it to be a wall. You can even use it to prevent some creatures from getting in, while letting others pass. If you hold it tight in your hand instead, then you can use it like a weapon instead!

I basically imagine it like a solid wall to start. You can draw a line in the ground easier that way.

[She makes the hand gesture again, then points it in front of her to show how it would work.]

It's also sometimes the only way a shinki can protect themselves without their god around.
