Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods (although there's none this time) and shinki



The product of many meetings and recommendations, at last it has taken shape. On this day, in anticipation of the new arrivals who appear in a recognized pattern, Heaven has partnered with the new gods and shinki to organize a very helpful informational reception.

The shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided kindly towards Bishamon's temple. And in that vast complex they are brought to a traditional-style dojo.
Here the newly arrived gods are gathered, so finding their partner is more simple. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the aspects of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki, or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.




God Training

Bishamon herself, as well as Amaterasu's ever-present shinki and any volunteering gods, will be the foremost source of information regarding being a god and what is expected of them, such as prayers. It is encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Newly arrived gods are still expected to communicate to their shinki the information* they themselves get oriented with when they arrive.

Shinki Training

Various volunteers are stationed around the building, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. There are many shinki, including Bishamon's and Amaterasu's, who will be more than happy to train in using the borderline and some of the basics of what is expected of a shinki. It is encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Bishamon's lead shinki Kazuma offers a lecture to new arrivals that will thoroughly cover some essential points about teamwork with both shinki and other gods.

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern. There are volunteers here as well, willing to assist in basic training. (Or even more advanced sparring, depending on the volunteer.) Essential for gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes.
Also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.

Rest and Refreshments

There is a garden off the dojo that is free to be used for rest and conversation.
Should anyone wander outside the designated area, some shinki of Bishamon's will attach themselves to them and not leave them be until they return to the dojo.

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're just taking a quick break to cool down. Even hand towels are provided by Bishamon's helpful shinki. The Heavens wants everyone to stay in good condition!

[Her shoulders shift a bit as she debates how to answer, but then she just decides to be honest.]

Not yet. Sharak wasn't sure how to explain it and my shadows have been good enough for me so far. But I know that using a borderline is what I'm supposed to do.

The pamphlet was a little help but then it mentioned shouting and I wasn't sure what to do.

[ Is it weird that he can glance at the screen and understand the entire message as quickly as if she were saying it? Though the blond barely had a chance to think on that before nodding a bit. ]

Yeah, I was wondering how that'd work for you. It'd have to be possible, yeah? Things like ablutions require borderlines being used. Not that you've gotta shout to make it work- it's just saying it strongly enough.

[ She can see and hear without having a head- is it really the case that she doesn't talk? Not that he gets how that works, but it's fine enough to accept that it can happen. ]

Is it really that you can't talk, or are the rest of us unable to hear you? It's not like people have to hear you casting a borderline for it to happen.

[Maybe he's just chill and open minded enough to handle it without thinking too much. Maybe his reading comprehension is better than some might give him credit for.]

I'm...mostly sure I can't talk? I'm not really even sure how to test that.

[Still she gives it a try, holding out her hand as directed. She gives a sweep of it and shouts the word as loud as she can in her mind.

There's a fluttering of light and energy and wind but it seems a bit unfocused. There is of course no sound coming from her. What does happen though is that her own shadows stir in alternation with those of the borderline. Like she's trying to flex one muscle and getting another instead.]

I mean, you can't really hear or see either, yeah?

[ The question comes as the light and shadow seemed to stir into one another. They can't say it didn't work. People told him it took practice and time to get good at these shinki powers that all of them had. While not the same exact thing, his memory does manage to connect it to something else that he was told. ]

Ah, yeah. See, you managed to start something. You know what, there's a kid named Goten, who's got powers as well. He's gotta be careful with what he's thinking when making borderlines because if he's not focusing on the right stuff, he ends up blasting the area instead. You'll probably get it after enough practice.

[Her shoulders roll in a shrug at his question. She's not really sure, but she can do what she assumes is close enough to hearing and seeing to be able to get by. At least it seems to work as well as anything else anybody else seems to be doing. Apart from online videos she can't really be sure what the experience is like for others.

At first she seems a little let down by the result, but she perks up a little at his encouragement. The name Goten is somehow familiar though. Did someone else mention it?

She continues to try, with varying degrees of success. Overall she seems to get better, but the occasional missed attempts stand out all the more as the divide widens.]

Is there any reason we can't just use our own powers instead of doing this?

[ She still only just started, so the constant improvement was really impressive. It really wouldn't be long before Celty was reliably throwing borderlines down, for whatever reason was necessary. ]

There's a thing called ablutions that require the use of them. Other than that... I guess it's just a more reliable thing against ayakashi and spirits? That and most of us don't really have powers, and even less can do what you do. I guess because it's universal among all us shinki, it's also the easiest to learn from others.

I don't really understand it all myself, so I'm not exactly the biggest help.

[Having powers to begin with probably helped. She could understand what to do, it was just a matter of figuring out the new way to do it. The basics were all at once similar and entirely different.]

The right tool for the right job, basically? I guess that makes sense. I guess the two of us just have the advantage of a backup.

And don't worry. Having someone to talk to about this at all is a help. Somehow I get the feeling I don't need to worry about you judging me.

Mm.

[ It certainly was a case of using the right tool. Though Shizuo wouldn't really count what he could do in that kind of category- his 'power' didn't do much against ayakashi, and while he wasn't about to show others, his borderlines weren't exactly the most effective either. ]

I don't see why you'd be judged in the first place. If talking helped, at least I can do that much.

Maybe I'm just judging myself.

I don't have any memories from before my death to go on, so I have no clue if I'm doing things the way I should. I know we're all in the same boat here but being adrift isn't very fun.

Ah... Yeah. I can understand what you mean.

[ It was hard to tell if this is how they should do things, but they didn't really know what they should do in general. There were things to know and do as a shinki, but there was more to their life/afterlife than that. ]

It's kinda why I took the job at the Double Cross bar, aside from it just working out that way due to who the owner was. Otherwise, aside from training, the only thing I'd be doing is napping out in the sun.

[Celty shifts, pulling her knees to her chest her helmet dipping in thought. This Shinki thing hasn't that bad but she's been feeling a bit restless at the same time.

Setting her phone on the grass she types up a response with one hand but mostly stays seated as she is now.]

Maybe I should see about getting a job too. Not sure what I'd be good at though.

[She has a few skills, but she's not sure what's actually marketable. Something with computers or something online maybe?]

[ Huh. Maybe this was something that she'd been trying to figure out for a while. It was hard for him to tell, if only because he didn't have the best social skills, but it seemed like Celty was trying to find her own place in all this, past being someone's shinki. ]

Well, you've got the time and leeway to figure it out. I kinda lucked out, but you can go around and see what catches your interests.

[ He'd guess something racing based, but that'd just be due to her clothes and helmet. Who knew if that'd be an actual interest or skill? ]

Just go with your gut, y'know?

[There's another nod, slow and steady. There's almost the feeling of a smile coming from her.]

[She knows that's not true, but it feels funny right now.]

[ But hey, it seems like something in all of this has picked her up. Shizuo can't figure out why he thinks that, but it's the feeling he gets. ]

Ah, right. If you want, I can give you my info. That way you can have backup, or know where to duck into if you need a break.

[ Without a head, she can't drink, but the bar would be a good spot if Celty wanted to get away from some annoying ayakashi. At least it'd get her backup if that was the case. ]
