So you are handing out these flowers on your own then? It can be dangerous to wander about by yourself you know.
[Her tone is mildly scolding in that motherly sort of way.]

[Sure enough, the fluffy orange cloud that makes cartoon car noises as it putters along, appears in the sky and zooms towards them, coming to a screeching halt about a foot behind Kairi, then nudges up against her softly. It makes her giggle happily.]
See! Nimbus!
[And she hugs the great big cotton-candy cloud.]

I- I see. [She doesn't.] Is... is it alive?

[Kairi has no idea how to answer. It certainly moves all on its own.]
How would I know?
[She keeps petting Nimbus on the part closest to her.]

[Naoto stares at the cloud a moment longer before hesitantly stretching out a hand towards it.]

[Kairi pats the cloud again.]
He belongs to Goten.
[Nimbus effectively has no gender, but she'll use 'he' anyway, even if they're discussing whether or not it's alive.]

Goten... I don't believe we're acquaintances yet.
[She reaches out to the cloud, attempting to lightly rest her hand upon it. Instead, however, her fingers go right through just as they would through a normal cloud. Though, Naoto can feel a warmth to the odd air mass. She pulls her hand back, studying her fingertips for a moment.]

[Young Kairi has no idea what the properties are that determine who can sit on the cloud and who can't, as opposed to the older Kairi who was starting to put it together.]
Well, Goten's really nice.
[From the less-than-a-day she's known him like this. Still her opinion now.]
Maybe we have to go to him so you can ride.

[Considering how her hand went right through it, the idea of riding on the cloud was the furthest from her mind.]

[She just feels bad that a new friend wouldn't be able to join her.]

I think I'll take a rain check then for the time being.
[She sighs, a small smile on her face. As it embarrassing as it was to be seen right through by such a young kid, she had to admit it was kind of funny. She then looks down at the flowers she'd been given.]
These are very pretty. They all came from your friend's temple?

They grow all over! I found some where I live... and where Goten lives... and where Hibiki lives... all over! I really like flowers.
[The issue of the cloud ride is completely forgotten now.]

I do. I wouldn't say I necessarily have a lot of expertise with them, but they're certainly pleasing to look at. [She then smiles a little more warmly.] And to receive as a gift, of course.
