[Okay, it was rude to stare, but that guy looked awfully familiar. Much bigger than she remembered, and not as sickly-looking. Actually, he had a very unapproachable aura emanating from him. Was this really the same kid? What if this was one of those awkward moments where you waved at someone you knew but turns out it's not them? Aaah, what the hell?]

Um, excuse me!

[ Ichiru turns to look at her. Thankfully for her, he recognizes her briefly from his fuzzy memories and he didn't look too happy to see her. However, his expression remained unreadable so there's that. She wasn't mistaken that this almost six foot tall teenager was the little boy she ran into not too long ago. ]

What is it?

[ He muses as he turns to the girl. ]

[Wow, yeah nice to see you too.]

Ah...nothing, I was just wondering if we'd met. You looked familiar so...

[The kid was nicer though. As mucha s she'd hoped this curt guy wasn't him, getting a closer look at him now just proved otherwise.]

You're Ichiru-kun, right?

[ Sorry he's got a menacing aura and you're still approaching him. Chinatsu you have some serious guts. ]

I see.

[ He ponders for a moment before he fully recalls her. ]

That is my name and you must be that girl that was climbing the tree.

[ Not that any of of those words sounded bad-- it just came off a bit too coldly ]

Yeah..

[She raises a brow, taking a step closer.]

Hey, you alright?

[Seriously, what was with the attitude?]

Why would I not be?

[ He mused giving her a raised brow for her comment too. To be fair, he hardly remembers half of what they talked about. Most of it was vaguely familiar while others were blanks. ]

That's what I'd like to know...you seem..off.

[Not that she knew him that well, but it was just a different feeling.]

Wouldn't you be off if you just experienced something unpleasant?

[ He retorts back to her. ]

I'm afraid whatever you remember of me is rather-- false.

[Where the hell was this coming from?]

It wasn't that bad.

I think the one having problems remembering is you. You seemed pretty honest to me.

[Sure he was weird as a kid, but he felt sincere.]

[ If only he knew really. He didn't fully grasp it himself. His memories were all over the place. He didn't want to think about it. ]

You wouldn't understand how an experience like that is unpleasant. Not that I want you to.

[ He replies sighing. ]

I suppose if you want to refer to that version of me. Unfortunately, that part of me doesn't exist.

[ She's right. He's completely insincere right now and it's not by any means her fault. It's just how he is-- jaded. ]

[Chinatsu tilts her chin upwards.]

That kid's still in there after all.

[What could have changed him so much? Wasn't it just the other day that they met?]

Look, I know we're not exactly friends...but if something's bugging you or if you need help woth something...

[She shrugs, not exactly sure that he'd even want her help.]

[ He looks down on her with a deadpan look on his face. ]

You really do know what to say to make people angry don't you?

[ He muses, his expression unchanging but he did seem very annoyed with her words. ]

We aren't and neither you or I owe each other anything. You should save yourself the trouble and not involve yourself with someone like me.

[ He didn't show that he was taken back by her words but he at least expressed that he was somewhat not dismissing her completely. ]

[It's not like she intended to make him angry...it just seems like a thing she's good at. At least, that's what she's noticing.

Chinatsu too, was getting annoyed with his words.]

That's for me to decide, isn't it? Plus, pretty sure you do owe me one.

[Sorry Ichiru, she's the type to do the opposite of what she's told. Something about how cold he was being just rubbed her the wrong way. Walking away would've been easier, really, but there she still was.]

[ He's not personally angry at her but she wasn't helping his mood. That's also another issue he has to deal with when he's engaging with her in a conversation. It can get annoying and he didn't want to be troubled by it. In truth, anything that requires effort made him a bit annoyed. ]

I don't owe you anything. Even if I did-- I have not reason to do you any favors.

[ He's not the type to really care about morals or empty promises. Those things were made to be broken after all. He's just that kind of person. Honestly, he didn't get why she was being so stupidly stubborn about engaging with him. He showed neither kindness nor friendliness-- only hostility. ]

Hah? Did you forget the whole part where I helped you out and stuck around when you dying under some tree? Or did that really mean nothing?

[Which would kind of suck because she did kind of like that interaction. Just kind of.]

I didn't ask you to help me now did I? Don't feel entitled if you were doing it for some kind of compensation. Just because you help someone doesn't mean they'll return the favor.

[ He retorts coldly at her words. ]

It doesn't matter to me how you want to take it.

[ He probably appreciated it but he wasn't going to openly admit it. That's not part of who he is. ]

[She wasn't, but when he put it that way it did make her feel a pang of guilt. Was this really the same guy? She clenched her fist.]

The Ichiru I met would've.

[Her tone wasn't angry this time, but Chinatsu was upset. And maybe a little sad.]

[ It's the same person, only his tongue was much sharper than she remembered. That was probably without a doubt. ]

He was a naive child who was unaware of reality. In the end, you are no different from everyone else.

[ She can be whatever she want but her words have already made him closed off. He was him no matter what form he took. If she really didn't like his current self then it was more than enough of an answer for Ichiru that she was not someone he'd further engage with. ]

Maybe, but neither are you.

[Fine. She can accept that he's a changed person. Didn't mean she had to like it.]

You might not like how you were as a kid, but I did, so don't put him down like that.

Is that suppose to be some kind of insult? I don't recall denying that I am different from the very people I'm convicting.

[ He retorted dismissively to her as she countered him. Ichiru is well aware of what kind of human being he was in the past and what kind of shinki he is now. It hadn't changed much. He just couldn't recall things that he wanted to recall. ]

You're funny you know that? He and I are one in the same. If you cannot see me as the same person you recall, then we have no reason to cross paths. You're clearly looking for someone else, and not me. Simple as that.

[She gave him an incredulous look.]

Of course I know that! It's the only reason I even stuck around this damn long. If you believe he's still you then what are you putting yourself down for?

[ He finds her look troublesome but he had made no reaction to it. ]

[ He hears himself Chinatsu. She just has to get used to him contradicting himself. That's the kind of guy you got involved with. It really is best if she could just keep her distance. ]

Was I putting myself down or are you attempting to change the subject. You clearly stated you were looking for another version of me that clearly doesn't exist.

[Chinatsu takes a moment to process that before shaking her head in confusion.]

......Wha--You just said he was a part of you! And if that's the case how can he not exist if he is you?

[ He obviously is used to playing mind games, but his responses at the moment were anything but that. ]

[ Even if he knew, he couldn't explain it to her. Amnesia sucks. ]
