Open and Closed
Who: Yamazaki Ayumu, Cho Hakkai, and you!
When: late July 17th to July 19th
Where: Various spots on both the Near and Far Shores
What: Wardrobe problems, borderline practice in the park, and shopping.
Warnings: Possible mentions of violence, torture, and rape in the Hakkai thread if it comes up.
July 17th, night, the Far Shore (Open)
[The first few days of Ayumu's afterlife have been decidedly bizarre. How she'd gone from her present self to an ill-mannered child and later a cocky teenager is beyond her understanding but she's grateful when that final burst of energy comes, finally turning her back into herself even it did strand her on the Near Shore far away from her god's temple with nothing but a child's yukata and sandals to wear.
Ayumu's nothing if not resourceful, however, and the dilemma was solved easily enough with a little convenience store theft. And that's how Ayumu can be found strolling through the Far Shore back to her god's temple wearing a neon-orange glow in the dark rain poncho, a pink child's yukata tied around her waist in a makeshift skirt, and carrying a tiny pair of sandals in her hand. It's hard to tell for sure but she appears to be clutching a large wad of bloody paper towels in her right hand.
Regardless of her present attire, Ayumu makes eye contact with anyone she happens to pass by, offering them a cordial smile and cheerful greeting.]
Good evening! Nice night, isn't it?
July 18th, daytime, the Far Shore, the park (Open)
[Given Ayumu's current lack of wardrobe, her clothing options are pretty much limited to whatever she can find in her god's closet. His pants are a lost cause, being far too big to fit her small frame. However, the shirts are salvagable so she helps herself to one of those. He's taller than her, enough so that it hangs down low enough on her thighs to be somewhat decent enough to go outside in. But then again, Ayumu's definition of decent tends to be downright scandalous by modern standards, perhaps made worse by the fact all she's wearing at the moment is a shirt clearly recognizable as Hakkai's.
Currently, she's sitting on a bench, knees pressed together rather primly while she reads the information pamphlet given to her on her first day. Mentally, she's in a much better state to comprehend and absorb the information today so she's taking advantage of that with a little private practice on her borderlines. It's been a little rough going so when she finally gets it right, Ayumu jumps up from bench with a little cheer and fistpump at her victory.]
Yes! I did it!
[She's all smiles for the time being. Ayumu knows she still has a long way to go before she'll be able to consider herself a good shinki but it's a start. Dismissing it is much easier after which Ayumu celebrates by merrily scooping up a rather startled, floppy-eared puppy and holding it aloft.]
And you, my dear, are witness to my triumph.
[Ayumu drops a light kiss on its nose, apparently oblivious to any other witnesses to her antics.]
July 19th, morning, the Near Shore, shopping district (Closed to Hakkai)
[And at least, it's time for another victory to celebrate - clothing of her own! It'd taken patience and a careful strategy of wearing nothing but Hakkai's shirts for him to prioritize a shopping trip over work but it'd succeeded. Even without the bond between god and shinki, Ayumu's clearly in good spirits as she looks peers through the windows at the different clothing on display. Most of the styles look odd to her as they had when she'd been wandering the Near Shore as a child but clothes are clothes at this point and Ayumu will literally wear anything that she hasn't had to steal or improvise on her own.]
There's so many different styles, Hakkai-sama. I'm not sure what to pick. What do you think would look good on me?
[She turns to him for an answer, still barefoot and wearing another one of his shirts. Even though it's morning, it's still warm enough that she isn't cold.]

no subject
[She doesn't really. Partnership isn't a concept she's accustomed to. The relationship of superior and subordinate, the concept of heirarchy, those she has a much firmer grasp of.]
Some things have been easier to adapt to than others. Being bound to a stranger and having to rely on them isn't easy for me but I'll try.
[Perhaps this stunt of hers had been hasty. Ayumu had been so focused on learning her actual duties that she hadn't really thought much about the personal relationship aspects thereof. She may need to give that more thought.
After her clothing crisis is over, at least.]
Who do you work with then, Lavi-san?
no subject
[Exactly why he doesn't want to think of possibly being used.
After all, Lavi has two gods right now that he works with, and so far, it hasn't been too bad.]
Ah, my goddess is Hel. What about you?
no subject
[The past few days have been so confusing that Ayumu's still sorting out her own brain just a little. Arriving without memories only to lose them all over again a short time later and be turned into younger versions of herself has been rather disorienting for her.]
That they have to rely on us, too... I think I can work with that.
[Ayumu does like being relied on, after all.]
no subject
[Well, he doesn't envy you at all.
He grins.]
Yeah, just think of it that way and you'll find it'd be easier to work alongside your god.
no subject
It makes sense. I'll try to think of it that way.
[She hesitates a moment, wondering if she should ask Lavi about this rather than her god but his reaction's sparked her curiosity.]
Do you know Hakkai-sama, then, Lavi-san? We haven't spent much time together yet so I was wondering what he's like. If there's things I need to know so I can protect him better that he might not be willing to tell me face-to-face.
no subject
He then adopts a thoughtful expression as he rubs the back of his head.]
No, I'm afraid I don't know him very well. We've only spoken a couple of times. [He decides not to mention how suspicious Hakkai has always seemed to him.] But he always did seem to be the kind of guy who wouldn't mind someone helping him on occasion.
no subject
[So Lavi might not be the best source of information on her god. Ayumu reflects on that a moment. Of course, she could just ask Hakkai questions directly but something about that feels inappropriate to her somehow. Using stealthier, more indirect means feels natural to her.]
I'll keep an eye out for opportunities to assist him then.
[It's important for one to be very well informed at all times on bodyguard assignments like this, she feels. Vigilance is key.]
If you hear of him being involved in anything untoward or dangerous could you pass along the information to me, Lavi-san? I'm willing to reciprocate with information of my own should I come across anything of significant interest.
no subject
Honestly, he might feel a little bad for her considering the kind of person he pegged Hakkai to be. Knowing that god, Ayumu might have a tough time on her hands.]
Will do.
no subject
[She truly means that. From what Hakkai had told her in the beginning and the information she'd gained from Shizuo about the disappearing gods, she suspects looking after Hakkai will be a full time job. The more allies she has, the easier that job will be.]
Ah, I should probably give you my number so you'll be able to contact me.
[Ayumu picks up her phone from the bench.]
And you're welcome to call me to just chat, too, of course.
[Talking to him has been a pleasant surprise.]
no subject
[Finding allies would be a good idea.
He gives a nod, taking out his own phone.]
You're welcomed to do the same. [A grin.] Or if you simply want to hang out together, too.
no subject
[She smiles back warmly. Allies are good but friends are even better. Ayumu doesn't have many of those here yet either. She fusses with her phone a little to find her number then reads it out to him.]
There. Now we can keep in touch.
[Well, once she gets his, too.]
no subject
His grin widens.]
Well, it was nice talking to you now, Ayumu.
[After all, it's not often he gets to really chat and talk to anyone he hasn't met.]
I'll let you get back to what you were doing.
no subject
It was nice talking to you, too, Lavi. Take care!
[She smiles and waves, turning away to prepare herself for more borderline practice.]
