Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods and shinki



The product of many meetings and recommendations, at last it has taken shape. On this day, in anticipation of the new arrivals who appear in a recognized pattern, Heaven has partnered with the new gods and shinki to organize a very helpful informational reception.

The shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided kindly towards Bishamon's temple. And in that vast complex they are brought to a traditional-style dojo.

Here the newly arrived gods are gathered, so finding their partner is more simple. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the aspects of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki, or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.




Divine Bureaucracy

Wasn't it the newly revamped Shinki Agency's job to assign shinki this time... They thought it was the original team of Amaterasu's shinki's job this one last time before Shinki Agency took over the responsibility. Needless to say, when the shinki wake up at the Meeting Hall, there's a lot of shouting. Eventually, one of the Shinki Agency representatives herds the new shinki together and instructs them to please all go to Bishamonten's temple for the time being and they will send a runner with the god-shinki assignments as soon as they can.

New gods and old gods alike will not be notified that there is a mix-up unless they come to Bishamon's temple for Training, until the Shinki Agency can figure out what happened.

Important addendum: For this round, gods still have a vision of how their shinki died, however they can't make out any details, particularly about who they saw die.
Once a shinki of the Agency gives the god the name of their shinki, the god is then able to find them by name. Once they give their shinki a vessel name the god will have the full vision of how their shinki died.

This addition comes in response to some questions and need for clarification. Apologies and thank you for your input.

God Training

Bishamon herself, as well as Amaterasu's ever-present shinki and any volunteering gods, will be the foremost source of information regarding being a god and what is expected of them, such as prayers. It is encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Newly arrived gods are still expected to communicate to their shinki the information* they themselves get oriented with when they arrive.

Shinki Training

Various volunteers are stationed around the building, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. There are many shinki, including Bishamon's and Amaterasu's, who will be more than happy to train in using the borderline and some of the basics of what is expected of a shinki. It is encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Bishamon's lead shinki Kazuma offers a lecture to new arrivals that will thoroughly cover some essential points about teamwork with both shinki and other gods.

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern. There are volunteers here as well, willing to assist in basic training. (Or even more advanced sparring, depending on the volunteer.) Essential for gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes.
Also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.

Rest and Refreshments

There is a garden off the dojo that is free to be used for rest and conversation.
Should anyone wander outside the designated area, some shinki of Bishamon's will attach themselves to them and not leave them be until they return to the dojo.

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're just taking a quick break to cool down. Even hand towels are provided by Bishamon's helpful shinki. The Heavens wants everyone to stay in good condition!

[ Eric was in the garden, taking a break from practicing his borderline, but he wanted to practice something else.

Finding a spot he thought there wasn't anyone around, bottle of water or two around, just in case.

He stared at his hands, concentrating, as he created small fire on a fingertip. Then, he moved the fire to another finger, then another, trying to make it dance almost. It gets bigger, and smaller at times before it disappears completely. At least, it looked like it before he grabbed one of the water bottles. Eric jumps a bit as the bottle in his hand expands and starts to leak water. He sighed, looking irritated as he grabbed the other bottle, that one not exploding at least ]

Not again...

[ Patience, he needs to learn that. And a bit more focus. ]

[There's a brief moment wherein he'd say to trust in his own instincts, but at this moment, he's not sure if the other can even trust his own instincts.]

For now, it'd be good not to think too much about it until you've managed to adjust a bit to this place. Otherwise, you won't do yourself any good and send yourself into a panic attack again.

[A simple observation. If it's just the oar, then he supposes it's nothing too bad.

If you're still in the midst of learning your abilities, you'd find that not all of your abilities may not be as passive as you'd think. Even what you've did earlier, prodding at my mind, could be dangerous since that can still develop into something more.

[Unfortunately, when it comes to certain things like auras or magic or even spiritual energy in general, Toushirou is a bit sensitive to it. In a world where he has no recollection of, one of the first things he's done is to at least spread his senses to find out if people have any unique powers here.

So, when he feels a particular kind of warmth that doesn't seem natural, it piques his interest enough to check it out.

He slows a bit when he sees Eric, immediately seeing the expanded bottle and the water leaking.]

[Makoto snorts, and it's not exactly the most elegant sound. She does believe in gods. She'd been confronted with them a lot, of late. Hard not to believe when they were in your head.]

So you think so too. That we're more...stand ins and substitutes. But with no idea as to why we were selected specifically.

[Oh, what a charmer. Not that Makoto had a romantic or interested bone in her body. She will, however, play along. If only because Hibiki is the most talkative god she's met so far.]

Well, I won't assume you have answers for questions like "why me" and "how can I leave" or they'd have been told to me already.

So, what sorts of things can I expect, when answering prayers? [That seems a practical enough question.]

[ Eric jumps a bit, not expecting someone else around in the area. He shrugs, uncapping the non damaged bottle.]

Just practicing, keep forgetting to focus in letting the fire go out all the way.

That's good. I admit, given that I'm standing in for Bellona, I was worried.

[Because again, she didn't want to start wars...]

That's what they say. [Jennifer sighs.] A false memory, maybe? That's what I've come to think... I was a shinki, but now I'm a god. I know I survived everything back home. At least, I'm certain I didn't die before I came here.

[She shakes her head and looks apologetic] I'm afraid there's a lot we still don't really know. I'm sorry. I wish I could give you better answers.

[Freezing fire is not something done so easily. ...Emizel backs off even more.]

[So, in other words...leaving isn't voluntary. That's about what she suspected. She knows a thing or two about inescapable pocket dimensions, except it...doesn't seem as if this place is quite so simple. For one thing, there's no obvious portal from which everyone's coming in from. (She would remember it from when she came in, if nothing else.)]

[...Wait a second. She glances down at the pamphlet.] Which one are you?

Oh, maybe the sky could be referring to that particular flower smelling like green because it's related to the mint family tree line. It's leaves are green, isn't it? And it even smells like a very bright shade of green too.

[At least, she's guessing it may be the case.]

I don't know much about cinnamon though. I don't think...

[To be honest, she doesn't even know where the information about leaves and flowers came from neither. It just naturally came out without her thinking about it. Did she like flowers? Was she a gardener at some point?]

Really? That must have been...an interesting transition. [Almost said "weird", but decided to use the other word instead considering their circumstances right now.] What kind of holiday is it? What do you celebrate in winter other than a final year harvest festivals?

[Upon the other girl's question about her own whereabouts, Nike will try to think about it, but she was having some difficulty in forming a proper response over it. It was difficult to remember.]

...I don't remember a name, exactly, but I know it isn't this one. This world. It doesn't feel or sound like it. [For many reasons, she'll show the other woman the shinki pamphlet given to her, pointing at the paragraphs explaining about modern technology and search engines.] These details. About googles or social mediums. I don't recognize them.

[drizzle]

Kinda.

[She couldn't help turn to the other guy and smile sheepishly.]

I was hoping to play with the sudden coolness for a bit. Maybe create a fog effect to refresh the flowers or whoever wanted to cool down from their training.

[And if they had some sun power hitting them directly, they could create rainbows too. She couldn't help feel a sudden interest in what the other boy was doing with his own surroundings.]

Yeah. I did read that part in the pamphlet they gave us.

[It was the odd that the idea of fighting didn't really turn her off. More like, the idea of helping her deity and others was something she was really focused on along with learning more about her surroundings and new duties a little more.]

What I mean is: what kind of training are you offering? With weapons, spells, or self-defense?

[Then again, she must be a warrior type from noticing her demeanor and way of speaking.]

Because I'd like to learn either of the three. Or relearn it. That is if I even had any skills beforehand....

[Oh, wow, this person really seems to be ecstatic over meeting her from the way the other one was literally glowing. It'll take some time for Nike to really....think about it. Their response. Why was something about it giving her mixed signals? Hm.

Please, give her a few seconds to think about it.

This may be taking a lot of her newly dead brain power to administer.]

Oh! Of course! You're a god, aren't you!? You could be able to kinda determine that, right?

[Yes, she is taking the literal path in this whole thing. Clapping her hands together, feeling amaze by the other girl's (or boy's) performance, completely impress by it.]

Amazing! What you'd expect from a god. I hope my own deity will be as amazing as you are!

Sure! I don't see the reason you couldn't. I wouldn't want to join the boring club either way.

[With that said, she will wonder.]

How about you? Is there any name you'd like for me to refer to you as? Can't have you joining the same boring club, now can't we?

[Jennifer winces a little, wanting to protest that the horror stories might be exaggerated? A little?? ...Maybe??? But Botan is moving on before Jennifer can properly form an excuse.

She blushes immediately, shaking her head in quiet protest, but... Well. She is capable. She has to remind herself of that. Jennifer takes a deep breath and nods, though she's still wringing her hands together]

I... Will be the best god I can be. I don't want to be someone you're ashamed of working with, but please know I... I would rather consider you a friend than a... a servant, or something like that. We're partners.

He's like me, then. [Jennifer takes a breath and exhales slowly.] Then I have to talk to him.

Do you know any others who are the same? Shinki to gods?

[theunluckygirl]

[Jennifer hesitates, before realizing she's not bound by duty anymore to keep Schuldig's secrets. Not that she would go blabbing them, because there's no reason to and she's got nothing to gain from it and she's not that sort of person to begin with.

Still, the acknowledgement of that is rather. Freeing? She takes a breath and then exhales slowly.] Loki. [She won't give Schuldig's real name though, because she's not going to push it that far.] The Norse trickster god.

I don't know his real name. [A lie, but hopefully it'll cut off any attempt to ask for it]

[She looks startled--not so much by the touch, but by how gentle he is with it.] I... Alright.

[It's enough to get her to be obedient at least, and she follows without a fuss. She takes a seat, but casts a nervous look around again.] This is all so-- Overwhelming. [it isn't a lie, at least, and it's as good an excuse for her behavior as anything.]

[She takes the phone, more out of shock than anything else, and looks between it and Shizuo a couple of times. This man didn't even know her, but he was going out of his way this much for her?

She stares down at his phone, numbly typing in her information as she remembers it.] I... Think you look plenty strong. [And despite herself, despite the voice in her head telling her she shouldn't be bothering him so much like this, her shoulders relax and she smiles shyly as she turns the phone back over.]

I feel better, truly, knowing you want to look after me, though I hope I never have to call on you to save me. [no offense, but, you know.]

[Jennifer's breath hitches a little in surprise, watching wide-eyed as Bishamon lifts her chin.] Oh. [Her face turns red-- direct shot right to the heart.]

I-- Thank you. I'll do my best, I... I can do nothing less. [Jennifer closes her eyes a moment and takes a breath, and hen she opens them it's with a newfound determination. She'd made a promise to herself to never let herself be the kind of girl she'd used to be. This was as good a place to start as any.]

I don't want to be unworthy of this sort of honor.
