Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods and shinki



The product of many meetings and recommendations, at last it has taken shape. On this day, in anticipation of the new arrivals who appear in a recognized pattern, Heaven has partnered with the new gods and shinki to organize a very helpful informational reception.

The shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided kindly towards Bishamon's temple. And in that vast complex they are brought to a traditional-style dojo.

Here the newly arrived gods are gathered, so finding their partner is more simple. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the aspects of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki, or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.




Divine Bureaucracy

Wasn't it the newly revamped Shinki Agency's job to assign shinki this time... They thought it was the original team of Amaterasu's shinki's job this one last time before Shinki Agency took over the responsibility. Needless to say, when the shinki wake up at the Meeting Hall, there's a lot of shouting. Eventually, one of the Shinki Agency representatives herds the new shinki together and instructs them to please all go to Bishamonten's temple for the time being and they will send a runner with the god-shinki assignments as soon as they can.

New gods and old gods alike will not be notified that there is a mix-up unless they come to Bishamon's temple for Training, until the Shinki Agency can figure out what happened.

Important addendum: For this round, gods still have a vision of how their shinki died, however they can't make out any details, particularly about who they saw die.
Once a shinki of the Agency gives the god the name of their shinki, the god is then able to find them by name. Once they give their shinki a vessel name the god will have the full vision of how their shinki died.

This addition comes in response to some questions and need for clarification. Apologies and thank you for your input.

God Training

Bishamon herself, as well as Amaterasu's ever-present shinki and any volunteering gods, will be the foremost source of information regarding being a god and what is expected of them, such as prayers. It is encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Newly arrived gods are still expected to communicate to their shinki the information* they themselves get oriented with when they arrive.

Shinki Training

Various volunteers are stationed around the building, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. There are many shinki, including Bishamon's and Amaterasu's, who will be more than happy to train in using the borderline and some of the basics of what is expected of a shinki. It is encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Bishamon's lead shinki Kazuma offers a lecture to new arrivals that will thoroughly cover some essential points about teamwork with both shinki and other gods.

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern. There are volunteers here as well, willing to assist in basic training. (Or even more advanced sparring, depending on the volunteer.) Essential for gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes.
Also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.

Rest and Refreshments

There is a garden off the dojo that is free to be used for rest and conversation.
Should anyone wander outside the designated area, some shinki of Bishamon's will attach themselves to them and not leave them be until they return to the dojo.

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're just taking a quick break to cool down. Even hand towels are provided by Bishamon's helpful shinki. The Heavens wants everyone to stay in good condition!

Shinki Training

[ Those're some set of lungs. Shizuo managed to hear that from a good distance away, despite not paying any attention whatsoever.

So when he decided to walk over and figure out what that was about, the amused look of the 'instructor' said more than enough. It all made sense at this point. Actually, it should've made sense when Shizuo heard that first sentence. Which is why the blond casually went over and shoved the instructing shinki out of the way.

With his foot.

Across the yard and to be someone else's problem. ]

... Asshole.

[ What? Just seeing that expression pissed Shizuo off. Yet now he realizes that this meant he left the blind guy with no one- Ah shit. He should take responsibility for his actions, huh? ]

Ah. Sorry, but I got rid of him. Were you working on the hand or the gesture? I mean, I'm still pretty new at it, but I can try helping.

[oldblue]

[ Suddenly he can sense someone else very close by and the person of his frustration is not there any more very quickly.

That was definitely unexpected. But also appreciated. ]

He deserved it. [ That instructor was really pissing him off and Ao would have ended up punching him anyway. ] I don’t know. Both?

[ “You do it like this” had been things that was mentioned, for one. ]

[ It seems that pain was in that instructor's future, no matter what.

Of course, now Ao had someone who was socially awkward and didn't want to accidentally cause the blind person an injury due to his unintentional strength. So, clueless and overly cautious, but better meaning than the previous guy. ]

I mean, I never really taught anyone like this before. They say something about positioning your fingers like a halberd, but I dunno if that would mean anything for you. You want me to shape your hand to the gesture, or make it with my own hand so you can check for yourself?

[ At least better meaning is better. The other guy was mocking him. But don’t underestimate his strength, Shizuo. You won’t throw him away that easily. ]

I know what a halberd is.

[ Just to make that clear. ]

But how the hell a hand can look like one, I don’t know.

[bartenderizing]

[ It's his constant thing to be afraid of himself. That's his schtick ]

Honestly, having never known what one was, I never really got that explanation. Instead I would just copy what they did and assume it worked like that. Here...

[ He's going to make the hand position and hold it out in front of the guy. ]

My hand's in front of you if you wanna check for yourself.

[oldblue]

[ Time for him to give up his stick then. ]

Why the hell do you not know? It's a common weapon.

[ But Ao is a guy carrying an old sword so old time weapons are a given to him. Tell him about guns and he'll be clueless.

He hesitates a little because this is weird but it's better than what his previous instructor tried. So he reaches out to see touch for himself. ]

How the hell is this resembling a halberd?

Maybe common to you.

[ Well, then it's a good thing that this is weird for everyone involved. There's no way he could've predicted that someone would be touching his hand like this to figure out how to make a borderline. ]

There's no way for me to know. That's just what people keep likening it to. Point is, when making a borderline, you do that and make a swiping motion while saying 'line.' You should be able to sense it when done right- I know that I don't have to see mine to know where they are and if they're weakening.

Hah?

[ What does he mean with that?

At least he's figured out what to do with his hand now. ]

That's fucking ridiculous. [ Likening it to a halberd, that is. But saying something like "line" is pretty lame too. ] And how exactly does it feel when it's 'done right'?

[ Well, he didn't make the rules on this. It is dumb and lame, but it's necessary. Apparently. ]

You just kinda end up being aware of it. Like it's connected in some way, but you're not really touching it or anything.

[oldblue]

[ There is doubt on his face, which is directed toward Shizuo. He can't see the other, nor convey emotions with his eyes, but it's clear enough on the rest of his face. Then he runs a hand through his hair and sighs in annoyance. ]

Fine, so it's something you can't explain or some shit like that.

[bartenderizing]

Maybe someone with actual powers would be able to explain, but yeah. I'm pretty useless when it comes to explaining that kinda thing.

[ At least with Shizuo's tone, it doesn't sound like he's fucking with the blind guy. Then again, how many people call themselves useless to mess with people? ]

You'll just be able to tell when it's actually done.

[ He’s far from impressed by someone calling themselves useless but in truth, he’s useless with the borderline and powers too. He only knows how to fight with a sword. ]

Sounds weird.

That's cuz it is.

[ Shizuo doesn't go for good impressions- not exactly. He's fine with whatever happens from him being blunt about what he thought and saw. ]

The whole thing with making it is weird, so why not the rest of it, right? Ah, and if you know and want to know how to do them, I don't know anything about cutting borderlines or anything past the beginner steps of these things. You're gonna have to ask one of the others, like Kairi or... Yukina? Yokane? Some other kid that's been here before the rest of us.

Cutting...?

[ And now there’s some new thing he’s brought up, too. ]

If it’s with a sword I can do that.

[ As long as something is possible to cut with a blade, he can cut it. ]

[bartenderizing]

It's definitely not with a sword.

[ Sorry to burst your bubble. ]

You'll have to get the hang of this first, as the cutting stuff is an advanced sort of move.

[ At least he knows how to use a sword. He’s starting to think that that’s the only thing he knows. ]

[ Thing is, Shizuo isn't sure how this would work for the guy. He's blind, right? That's what was yelled, because the jackass from before was goading him on with 'watch what I'm doing' crap. How was he supposed to know when to make a borderline, or how far out? ]

Do you have some way of sensing when there's things, like ayakashi, nearby? You can set the borderlines some distance from in front of you, but... It's not automatically set in front of those things.

[ Maybe the guy'll just have to be told where to make the line. Who knows! ]

Maybe we should just start with you trying it.

[oldblue]

I’ve never met an ayakashi. [ His tone is “so how the hell should I know”. ] I can tell when people are nearby though.

Yeah, I guess.

Well, if it helps, they're pretty noisy, and whatever they say sounds a bit distorted.

[ It's the best identifier for someone that can't see, right? But at least the guy should probably be able to tell that Shizuo was moving so that he was more behind Ao, instead of right to the side or in front of him. Just to stay out of the way of the attempt. He's maintaining the same distance, though. ]

Sometimes it takes a few tries to be successful, even if you're doing it right.

That’s useful.

[ Then he’ll be able to know that they’re coming, even if he can’t see them.

He turns his head to follow his movements, even though it doesn’t matter. ]

At least I’m fucking stubborn.

[ Infuriates his god sometimes. ]

Can be, yeah.

[ At this point he flicks open his lighter to get a cigarette started. Rude? Shizuo has no clue. ]

Well, being stubborn should help for this. If you do it well enough, you'll just need it for practice.

[ Since Ao has no idea what a lighter is, he can't tell what it is. He scowls at the kid, then huffs. ]

I guess so.

[ He just needs to try out that movement, first of all. ]

[bartenderizing]

[ Well, he'll figure it out when he starts smelling the cigarette smoke. Some people have their vices. ]

So yeah. Just swipe with your hand from one side to the other. I guess it'd kinda be like how you would swing a weapon to force enemies back. That and saying 'Line' should do it.

[oldblue]

[ He is also unfamiliar with cigarettes. The smell is foul. ]

Do you even fucking know how to do that? [ Swing a weapon to force enemies back, that is.

He swipes his arm and hand in front of him, says ‘Line’ and don’t feel anything. ]

I didn’t feel anything, that didn’t work.

Kind of. I used a bench instead of an actual weapon, but it's still a wide swing, yeah?

[ Shizuo doesn't know how to use actual weapons. He uses things that are usually connected to the ground, and weren't meant to be ripped up. ]

Well, I did say that you could do it right and not have it happen the first few times. I mean, some people yell 'line' when they do it, so maybe that'll help.
