[Closed] A Gathering of Thieves
Who: The Phantom Thieves and their Shinki
What: Information Sharing.
Where: The Far Shore, the Park
When: July 26th, Late Afternoon
Summary: 3 new gods arrive to find that 2 of their closest friends are dead, and they are responsible
for two other people as well. A talk is needed.
Warnings: Major Persona 5 Spoilers in comments, also probably language.
[Arriving here with little warning had been jarring enough, but when the Phantom Thieves realized that they weren't alone, and that two of their number had no memories, it was time to confer somewhere. Temples and the like had felt a little raw, and not wanting to stray too far from the Far Shore until they had their bearings, the group had gathered in the park. Akira, Ann, Futaba, Makoto, and Ryuji, along with the shinki that had unwittingly become part of their circle, all standing around in a small clearing, talking. It should've been a positive occasion, but there was no denying the shroud that hung over the group. There was a lot to talk about, and things that needed to be agreed upon.
The question was...how to even start?]

[Easy enough, and he sounds like he has a Japanese name so that's even easier.]
You'll find that Ryuji is a nice guy, I think. He's got a big heart.
[Really, if there was one thing she'd learned about him, it was that. There were other things too, like...he was a loudmouthed idiot with no idea how to treat cats...but Shion wasn't a cat.]
Futaba and I will help you out too, if you need something, I'm sure.
no subject
He is. He's been nothing but kind to me. His energy is really something else sometimes!
[But Shion enjoys it, perhaps it makes him feel just a little more human.]
Thank you, Makoto-san. The same goes for you, I might not remember my past but I still know my way around first aid. I guess that's something.
[Shion luckily kept his knowledge of science and medicine. Perhaps it's more of a skill than a memory. Need stitches or a bullet removed? Shion's your guy and he doesn't shy from blood.]
no subject
That's good to know. I...admit, I have a little skill at magical healing myself, but someone who can take care of more mundane injuries is definitely going to be useful for all of us.
[Especially Ryuji, honestly. He's prone to some pretty bad scrapes.]
Have you figured out your power yet? Or your vessel form?
no subject
I hope I can help. You all seem very capable already.
[Then he nods.]
Ryuji-san and I tested it only once. I'm ... A hand gun. But he didn't test the bullets on anything.
[So he's not sure what his power is.]
no subject
[She puffs out a breath and sits, shifting on the bench and looking down at her hands a moment.]
Handguns aren't really his thing. They're more mine. It's funny.
[Dipping her hand into her shoulderbag, she pulls out a large revolver, fingering the barrel.]
We thought we were done with all this, forever, yet here we are. Has anyone explained to you what we do?
no subject
Makoto-san... Do you mind, when you have time, can you help Ryuji-san learn how to shoot well? I just...
[--Don't want Ryuji shooting himself in the foot oh god please??? Plus his bullets are packed full of poisons and that's just.......]
Ah, and no. I haven't heard too much about what you all do yet.

[She flips open the chamber to show him the inside, and how it's pink plastic.]
This is just a model though, for show. An airsoft gun. No need to be alarmed.
[It's a strange thing to say out loud, but then, so what what she was going into next.]
Well, I guess the simplest way to put it is that Ryuji, Futaba and I are a group that calls themselves the Phantom Thieves.
[Leaving Ann and Akira out, a lie by omission that stings, but the two of them couldn't know, and she didn't know Shion well enough.]
We can use a special ability called a Persona. It's...a little complicated, but think of it as us summoning something to fight with or for us. Having them makes us tougher, and gives us magical abilities. What they are is really, really hard to put into words without being able to show you the Cognitive World though, and I'm not sure I can do that here. Think of us as a group of thieves for justice, though.
no subject
Futaba-san did mention she has a complicated power. I'm guessing this is what she meant. [Shion looks impressed.] All of that really is true? You and the others have summoning skills and magic... Amazing...
[He has to smile a little.] Thieves for justice...?
no subject
[That's what a Navi does.]
And yes, thieves for justice. We...steal the hearts of the corrupt, to make them see the light. It's complicated, but we help people. We don't kill, and we don't hurt people if we can help it.
no subject
The further explanation has Shion staring. Questions swirling up in his head already. If he weren't a dead soul in a magical new place with reincarnated gods he'd just be completely baffled.]
That's... Interesting. I'd like to see how that works someday. [And he really assumes it's not literally ripping people's hearts from their chests.] It sounds all very honorable too.
no subject
[When they find a way to fix all of this, or when they find a way into the Metaverse.]
In any event, the three of us have to talk it out, but we'll probably make you and the others honorary members. It'll be easier to work that way. More familiar.
no subject
I hope I can keep up!
[Because he's not the most athletic person there is...]
no subject
[Futaba is the least athletic person in the world.]
no subject
[Maybe being a dead soul isn't so bad after all. He still has is reservations about not being able to find the truths about his past, but if he can find trust in these new comrades, it'll make things a lot easier to deal with.]
