Open ♔ My pri may be pri, but it’s the pri in “prince”, pri!
Who: Hibiki and you, pri
When: July 27, pri
Where: Harajuku, pri
What: An unusual ayakashi is preying upon Japan’s cutest citizens, pri.
Warnings: Pri-ating the dead horse that is Hibiki's phobia, pri. (Live horse also included. Pri.)
[ In an area of town as style-conscious as Harajuku, various fads come and go. The latest craze, however, seems to be completely involuntary: anyone visiting these two particular blocks of the area will find themselves compelled to add a cutesy suffix or “sentence ender” to the ends of whatever they say. What’s worse, the effect doesn’t seem to wear off for quite some time after leaving, and the longer people use their sentence enders, the fonder they grow of them.
This is causing no end of additional discord to erupt as friends and loved ones slowly cannot stand being around their affected acquaintances anymore.
Particularly adept or powerful gods and shinki may notice an ayakashi-like smoke issuing from people’s mouths as they use their sentence enders. The source is somewhere in town, hiding out. Lurking. Enjoying inflicting itself upon its unsuspecting victims, and growing stronger from ingesting said smoke. Why, it's even affecting any gods and shinki who wander into its territory...
Into this mess, preoccupied by dreams of revolution, rides one Shikyoin Hibiki on a literal white horse. (Don’t ask.) If she’s going to attract PriPara to the Near Shore, she imagines it’ll be touching down where Parajuku should be, as it’s the closest PriPara location to her shrine. Best scope out the area to be sure there’s nothing of use there right now….
But what is this chill in the midsummer air, and this deep-rooted sense of terror-stricken foreboding? ]

But what is this chill in the midsummer air, and this deep-rooted sense of terror-stricken foreboding? ]

They were never my style, but Kirika always used them back home. I never minded it then...though if something back there is infecting people with them, running away isn't going to solve it.
no subject
[ That is all she took from that.
Rebooting. Please hold.
Or, nope. Screen frozen. ]
no subject
I didn't realise you had such a problem with them.
no subject
Fortunately, "desu" is nothing dire.
[ That....pronunciation, though. It's teetering on the verge of a very stupid pun, which surely, Queen Maria can't have meant....Hibiki makes sure to give the ender its proper, well, ending. ]
no subject
I wonder if that's all that's going on back there.
no subject
You'd go back?
[ This is a scary thought. ]
no subject
[Her tone is appropriately severe for the matter of an ayakashi, because if it is one, then chances are it'll do a lot worse than spread sentence enders if left unchecked.]
no subject
[ Hibiki looks nearly as ill as she did when she found the dead body of her shinki. Two things that, separately, cause her no end of distress, combined...
But Maria does have a point. Hibiki would not put it past sentence enders to spread on their own, but given the usual pattern in this world....She's not an idiot. She's becoming accustomed to the trappings of this genre. ]
And you'd....face it.
[ She's speaking with Intense Seriousness, as befits such a grim discussion, but she's sweating. A cold, cartoonish sweat. ]
no subject
Nonetheless, she nods firmly.] It's an ayakashi. That's our duty as gods. And I did bring Uta with me for other reasons.
[Yeah, so that quiet woman in the kimono who Maria didn't have time to pull onto the horse as well? She's just getting back to behind Maria now, seemingly as collected as she ever was.]
no subject
[ Ah. She's - equipped, then. Hibiki bends her head, thinking this over. She looks on the verge of being sentenced to the guillotine.
Maria is right. Hibiki's own heart is aflame at the outrage that anything would dare despoil this already-foresaken world further by deliberately spreading sentence enders. This cannot be tolerated. Nor can sending the Queen into battle unattended.
And yet... ]
no subject
[Brief or not, Maria still sounds a little sad at the subject. He'd been a good shinki, and a good person. But for now, she focuses more on this Hibiki's attitude to fighting this. It seems like she might need another kick to get there.]
Those people need help. Our fans are relying on us to show them the light. [Playing to what she hopes is a priority to Hibiki.]
no subject
And yet. Sentence enders. A storm of them. Hibiki swallows, hard. She lifts her head. Something in a shop window catches her eye. ]
...One moment.
[ Handing Maria the horse's reins after dismounting, in she goes, shoulders back, head held high. This is a Prince on a Mission.
This is a Prince on the verge of a pure wild dance for her subjects. ]
no subject
Of course. [She has no idea what it is she might be buying, but surely it must be something vital to the mission. Surely.
For now, though, she turns her head back to Uta.] It's time, Uta. [The soulless shinki bows her head politely, awaiting command, and Maria reaches out a hand.]
Come, Kaki! [The form of the kimono-clad woman is swathed in light, and her form shifts within it. Once it clears, a short sword not unlike Airgetlam's Armed Gear rests in Maria's palm.]
no subject
All of which is to say that when Hibiki climbs back on the horse, she's wearing 1) a determined expression 2) a pair of giant fuzzy purple earmuffs. ]
Let's go.
[ She feels a little better now. ]
no subject
Rather than answer verbally, since she's not entirely sure what good that will to right now, she simply nods and gives Hibiki a thumbs up before holding on again. It's a bit harder with a sword in one hand.]
no subject
She speaks quietly but intensely. ] I'll steer. Strike quickly.
[ She just has to endure till they find it. She just has to get Maria in striking range. She can do this. She can do this.
Hibiki gulps. ]
no subject
As they get closer to where they'd come from, Maria starts looking around for hints of an ayakashi, or where the source of the "infection" might be. There has to be something...]
no subject
Focusing on each and every exhalation, she nudges their steed into the affected blocks. The crowd mills all around them, happily using their new sentence enders. Smoke streams out of their mouths, all seeming to be heading somewhere, none going noticed by the speakers.
Hibiki is shivering. ] Hnnngg....
no subject
The smoke is much more obvious now that she's looking out for signs, and rather than try to direct verbally in the midst of all this, Maria taps Hibiki's shoulder and points in the direction all the streams of smoke seem to be following.]
no subject
Something behind a telephone pole is gurgling happily to itself as it ingests the smoke. Hibiki, meanwhile, seizes up. That's - !!! It's -
She is this close to panic. She's stopped herself - she has to endure - but she's wavering. A push in either direction could send her over the edge. ]
no subject
And then she dismounts, slipping her leg off the horse and dropping neatly to the ground, starting to creep up on the feeding ayakashi.]
no subject
That thing, meanwhile, doesn't notice Maria. It's too busy gorging itself.
"Talk more, kero," it burbles to itself. "More, kero!"
Maria appears to have found herself a many-mouthed...frog. And Hibiki is shivering in place so badly she looks like she's vibrating. ]
no subject
Taking another few careful steps forward, Maria twirls sharply and drives Uta's sword form straight towards one of the creature's open mouths.]
no subject
The frog sputters as its mouth is speared by the sword, every other mouth opening up to screech in rage. Swelling up in its indignation, it turns on Maria, tongues lashing out to try and wrench her sword hand away from it.
Hibiki reaches into her pocket with trembling fingers. Queen Maria...she....she has to....
....she doesn't have a sword. But her grip closes over something else, just in case. ]
no subject
She starts to circle the creature, looking for a weak point, but also trying to keep its attention off Hibiki. She doesn't seem to have a way to defend herself from this right now, so it's best for Maria to take the brunt of its displeasure.]
