[Closed] New Meetings

Who: Nanako and Shuusei, later Izanagi Household.
When: July 27
Where: Around the Heavens, Izanagi House
What: Nanako gets assigned a new shinki and sets off to find him and bring him home.

[ Once before, Nanako had seen the visions of the death of someone she didn't know, so at least this time she's aware of what it means, although it's not how anyone would want to be woken up in the early hours of the morning. She doesn't understand some of what she'd seen - the strange room, the even stranger-looking gun - but after she'd calmed down from the fear that had gripped her automatically at living through someone's memories that weren't her own, she'd snuck out of her brother's temple to go looking for her new shinki.

Focusing so she could call upon her new power, Nanako calls in her wings and lifts into the air, hoping she can follow the feel of him to discover where he might be as she zooms over the Heavens, looking for the face she had glimpsed in the memories. ]

[Shuusei on the other hand is enjoying the outdoors. Something he's been doing a lot of lately. Laying out in the grass, hands tucked behind his head, he just watches the clouds above. He's wearing the black shirt, red tie and black slacks, and a cast on his one leg. His crutches rest aside as he just enjoys the day.

What he doesn't expect is to see a girl with white feathered wings soar above him. He blinks. Then blinks again. Finally he sits up and draws his good knee up for balance as he watches her. Well, he's seen a lot of strange things here and though this is new it isn't the strangest.]

[ It's his movement down below that luckily catches her eye and she flutters in the air for a moment before wobbling downwards, a little unsteadily, because descents and landings are still way harder that taking off seems to be.

Which is how he ends up with a tiny six-year-old zooming downward with an alarming speed only to manage to slow at the last moment and hover in front of him, still in the air.

Despite the somewhat terrifying drop, she's smiling brightly, excited to have found him. ]

Hi! I was looking for you!

[Oh, wow, she's descending fast.

She's descending fast!

He's not mobile enough to just roll out of the way so he stares wide eyed as she sails down. Luckily, she pulls up short and hovers there a moment.

Also, what?]

Oh... uh, hi. What?

[ Wings fluttering behind her, she actually manages to land a moment later without falling over (you have no idea what an improvement that is) and moves to stand in front of him before giving him a polite bow and a shy smile. ]

Oh, um. I think... I'm your new god? I'm Nanako.

Oh!

[Well, this is definitely a huge change.]

Hi, it's nice to meet you. Umm... I'm Shuusei. Do you already know that?

[He's still not 100% on how this works.]

[ She's quick to shake her head. ]

No, I didn't. Not yet. I just knew what you looked like. I'm happy to meet you, Shuusei.

[ Although considering he has a cast and crutches, her expression turns concerned a moment later as she motions at them. ]

Are you okay, though? What happened?

[He smiles and tries to wave it off. He's getting used to pretending.]

Oh, that. I just...

[She'd feel it. He almost lied. He stops himself though.

To most people he wouldn't even care about telling them a story, but she's an earnest looking kid and even he knows what guilt's supposed to do to you.

He sighs and lays back again.]

I saw a shinki rampaging and I went after him. He did a number on me then moved on.

[Luckily, the bruising has faded and the cracked ribs no longer cause him too many issues if he's careful.]

Looks like you have some bad luck. You got yourself a broken shinki.

[ She blinks in alarm at that before she comes to crouch beside where he's laying, reaching out to pat his arm consolingly. ]

I don't think I have bad luck at all. Maybe you just got really good luck all of a sudden instead? Hold still, I'm still learning how to do this...

[ She reaches out to hover her hands over the leg that's still wrapped in a cast, focusing for a moment. Her hands start to glow with the same soft, warm light that had appeared when she'd first called in her wings, but this time the light wraps around Shuusei's limb seeping in past the skin to the broken bone beneath, mending both bone and muscle and sending a soothing sensation along his nerves to chase away the last of the pain.

It takes her a few moments of intense concentration and sweat beads on her brow as she does so, because this seems to take a lot more out of her at this size than it did when she was a teenager and healing Izumo - who, ironically enough, had been injured by the same rampaging shinki. Not that Nanako's aware of that.

But once he feels right again - don't ask her for technical terms, she just knows when it feels that way beneath her hands - the glow fades and she glances up at him with a hopeful - if somewhat drained - smile. ]

There. Is that better?

[More wide eyed staring as she has glowing light and it feels... good. Comfortable. Nice.

His last goddess set things on fire, so this is definitely unique. He slowly sits back up again when she finishes and he waits for her to sit back before lifting that leg.

The pains gone. Does that mean the injuries fixed?]

That's... yeah. That's better. Did you just heal me?

[Yup, he's in awe of this kid. Angel wings. Healing. That's amazing.

Then he notices that she seems a bit drained.]

Hey, okay, maybe I wasn't great with first impressions but if you show me where the temple or kitchen is I'll return the favor and cook you up something good. Sound like a deal?

[Because one of his non violent talents is cooking.]

I hope so! [ She smiles up at him, her smile still bright despite how drained she seemed. ] I'm still learning though, so just make sure you're careful in case something's still sore. I didn't even know I could do that until I was a bigger. Then I seemed to know how to do lots of things, but now I'm trying to figure them out all over again.

[ Was it weird that the only reason she knew to try it was because her older self had known how already? Maybe, but she's not thinking about it too much. ]

You know how to cook? And I think you made a good first impression, don't worry. Ummm, I should probably give you a name, though, right?

You're the goddess.

[His likely answer to anytime she asks him if she should do something.]

Uh, not sure how it works for you but last time I was named I turned into a video game.

[He's still not sure why any of this happens like it does. He still knows how to fight at least so he can help her there even if he isn't useful as a weapon.

All the while he rolls his leg with the cast one way and then the other just to feel what it's like. It's been a bit since he hurt it and he was stiff. Now though? Now he wonders if he can run and jump around again.]

[ She giggles at that, watching him as she sinks back on her heels, folding her hands in her lap ]

A video game sounds like fun, though. There's nothing wrong with that. I had a shinki and he turned into a cellphone before. [ Even if he hadn't stayed very long. But oh, that reminds her... ] And, ahh... I don't have a shinki that's just mine, but my brother's shinki.... she helps me when I need to answer prayers or when it's dangerous too, so I gave her a name. I know some people get mad when a shinki has more than one, but... my brother said it was okay and Homura wanted to, so we share her.

I never did get that Nora thing. Go-chan is one of the coolest guys I know and he is a Nora.

[Not that Shuusei's ever had the motivation to go that route himself.]

And I may not look it but I can hold my own in a fight. So if you get in trouble and don't want to bother this Homura person, just let me know okay? I got to pull my weight if I'm your shinki.

[Because that's what a cool adult's supposed to say right? He's totally unaware that Homura is another one of those people who fights well beyond his league.]

Go-chan? [ She cocks her head to the side curiously because she doesn't know who that is.

She smiles at his offer, though, and nods, reaching out to pat his arm. ] Maybe we can practice together, then? I'm not very good in a fight yet either, but I'm trying to learn. I want to keep people safe, too.

Hmmm, but a name for you... [ She turns very serious for a moment to think that over before she brightens once more. ] Oooh, I think I have one. Now the words I needed... [ She squints, trying to remember how Souji had taught her to do this. ]

...Grasping thy true name, I bind thee here. With borrowed name, I dub thee my servant. Shuusei answers, Aka to sound.

[ And with the contract given, his name - she hopes - should appear. ]

[He listens to her as this is the first time it's been so formal. He waits as she says the words and closes his eyes suddenly as if expecting... he doesn't know. He came to this world tagged the first time. This time he's willing. Even assigned as such he doesn't mind working for a kid.

It's not pain he feels, but the sensation is strange. As he leans forward and closes his eyes she can see the tag appear on the back of his neck.

He blinks his eyes open and he has to ask...]

Did it work?

[ She spots it when he leans forward and she shifts in a little closer to reach out and trace her fingers over his name. ]

It sis. it's right here. Akaki. Do you like it? [ She glances up at him worriedly for a moment, chewing on her lip with a sudden bout of shyness as she waits for his approval. ]

We can try it out, if you want? To see what your vessel form is?

Akaki, like my hair right?

[He flashes her a grin.]

It's better than my last name, that's for sure. Akaki. I can tell you're going to be really good at this.

[As for her next question.]

Sure, lets see what happens. Though if I do become a video game you got to turn me back no matter how fun it is to keep me that way, okay?

[ Her mouth drops open at that. ] Of course! I wouldn't make you stay stuck as anything you didn't want to be! I promise.

[ Had his last god done that? She hesitates to ask, though, just settling down on her knees beside him once more. ]

Alright. Let's try. [ She takes a deep breath before saying the words that will change him to his vessel form. ] Akaki, come!

[He has to laugh, he's definitely teasing her a bit there. But when she kneels down he relaxes and nods.

When she says the words he transforms again. He turns to light and shrinks down to land in her hands. This time though instead of a game system, he changes and appears in her hand as a pretty hair pin. Only the edge of it is like a very thin blade. At the hilt like end of it dangles red glass flowers as an ornament.

He at least knows how to communicate in this form.]

Wow, okay. This is different.

[ She hadn't been sure what to expect, but it certainly hadn't been this. Careful of the sharp edge of the blade, she lifts the pin with wide eyes, examining it. The movement makes the tiny glass flowers chime softly as they shift. ]

Oooh, it's pretty! And sharp!

Be careful.

[He's not really sure if he can hurt her but he rather not. At least this time he's a real weapon.

Still, she's a goddess and all.

Ever use a knife before?

Only for cooking... [ And always with supervision. ] I don't think this is the same.

I'll be careful, though.

Good plan. I'm not great with fighting with knives but I'll have to show you a thing or two.

[At least he can't have her stabbing herself by accident. Besides, even while he's a blade, he's totally supervising right? See, she'll always have an adult on hand.

Shuusei should never have children.]

Also you can totally hide me in your hair if you need to.

[ Do you even count as an adult, Shuusei?

She blinks at his suggestion, eyes going wide again. ] That's what super secret spies do, right? Will you teach me how to use it, Shuusei?
