What: A sleepover!
Warnings: None, and there probably won't be any. Will update if necessary.

[ Axel, Sora, the Riku Replica, Ventus, and both Roxases--they've all been notified by text that Naminé's hosting a sleepover. (Riku, she'd just told herself.) It had been Sora's idea, but Naminé liked it well enough. She's actually not sure what a sleepover entails, but she knows lots of snacks are involved.

Which is why there's a huge variety lain out in the main room of Naminé's temple. There are tons of pillows and blankets, too, enough to make pillow forts--but someone would have to suggest the idea for Naminé to even consider it. There are movies, too, but maybe someone should bring their own, if they have any...

In any case, Naminé's excited (if somewhat nervous, funnily enough) to get the night started. ]

Well what are we waiting for then? Let's go!

[He waves Axel to follow him to where Sora and Naminé had starting hording all the blankets and pillows at the beginning of the night. Sora alone has brought a ton and he even has a secret weapon for later once the forts were built up. So Axel better be sure he's really ready for this because he's going up against a master.

Upon arrival to the living room, Sora points at the unorganized pile of blankets.]

Ten minutes, and as many blankets and pillows that you need. You're allowed to use stuff like the chairs and couches to build too. You ready?

[Wow. Okay. So they're doing it right away? Axel tags along behind Sora, looking increasingly dubious. Oh, shit. Now he's got to back up the bragging.

Maybe it wasn't a good idea to grandstand at Sora.]

Soooo... fine! And neither of us gets to use anyone else to help. One on one.

Okay one on one! That's the best, we connect everyone's together afterwards and make one big mega ultra fort with connected blanket tunnels!

[Sora cracks his fist against his open palm. And launches himself into the pile of blankets, picking out which ones he wanted to use as a base. He's gonna take his time, he knew what he was going to do.]

[Blanket tunnels. Huh. Okay. Axel heads off to grab a couple of chairs. If he's going to drape a blanket over something he needs something to drape it over, so...

Two chairs. One blanket. Couch cushion doors. Sort of like a tent! Okay so the door cushion keeps falling over and by the time ten minutes are up he's still unobtrusively keeping it from collapse with his foot. Also, the blanket turns out to slide right off the chair if he takes his hand off it. He's trying really hard to make it look like a cool, casual pose.]

[Meanwhile, Sora is carefully tying sheets and blankets together for support and using chairs to create pillars and support to the walls. He only uses a thin sheet as a door flap and starts lining the inside with cozy pillows and even more blankets. This after all, might be where he fell asleep tonight.]

How's it going over there Axel? [Sora asks, laughter in his voice.]

Fine! It's going fine! Wow, getting all fancy over there, huh, Sora?

See, I like mine functional. Streamlined --

[Whoops, he just took his hand off the blanket to gesture there. Slowly, majestically, it slides free, and takes both of the door cushions with it into a sad heap on the floor between two completely empty chairs.

Axel stares at it.]

Okay, so, it might have been a while.

[oathkeeper]

[Sora peeks his head out of his nearly complete fort to look at Axel's...total mess. This makes him burst out laughing, rolling on the floor.]

So much for making a mean fort, Axel! It's okay, you can share with the rest of us.

[Sora completes his portion by adding pillows to lounge against and going to his bag to pull out a string of fairy lights to hang inside for extra cozy ambience.]

Okay, so maybe I haven't done this before!

... I didn't know that.

[He could've been awesome at it. It could've been true. So it turned out to be wishful thinking!]

Where'd you get those lights?

You can't have a blanket fort without having lights for the inside, it'll just be dark if you don't! I brought them for this!

[Sora laughs at Axel again before finishing putting up the lights around the fort. They gave the spot a comfy glow.]

Come here, come see! [He waves for Axel to crawl into the space.]

Uh, okay.

[Dubiously, Axel bends down and sticks his head through the fort door. It's pretty cozy in there, it's true. Lots of extra pillows, pinprick warm light from the little string of lights Sora'd hung up.

Wait, is he supposed to crawl in?

He hesitates at the door, with the awkward air of someone who really can't remember any kind of blanket fort etiquette.]

Cute.

[When Axel peeks in like that he laughs. It was funny seeing Axel try to do this. He patted the spot next to him. Come chill.]

Hey Axel, can I ask you something?

[There'd been some questions on his mind for a little while since seeing Axel again.]

... Yeah, sure. I'm not promising to answer though.

[Axel wrinkled his nose, abandoned his dignity, and crawled into the blanket fort, curling up cross-legged on one of the cushions across from Sora.

Why not? He was already at a slumber party, he might as well chill.]

[Sora nods. That was fair! After all, they are pretty much strangers to each other in Axel's eyes. This is just like the old Axel he knew though, that snark.]

Do you talk to Roxas a lot?

Which one? Hood or no hood?

[The Roxases have just been... weird to talk to, so far. They're not bad people or anything. But the one with his hood up all the time is the most deadpan guy Axel remembers meeting, and the one without the coat gets upset about the weirdest stuff.]

[Sora was going to have to find a way to differentiate between the Roxas' wasn't he? Maybe he should start calling Roxas Artemis...? Saying "Roxas Replica" felt weird too. He chuckles.]

No hood! The one that's new here like me.

Sure, we've talked a couple of times. Why? He hasn't been telling any stories about me, right? -- or if he is they better be good ones.

[Axel leans back, crossing his arms behind his head as he looks up at the fairy lights. It's pretty cute. Like a bunch of fireflies in the trees or something.]

All good stories, I promise! I promise! [Sora gave Axel a thumbs up before looking a little thoughtful.]

I was wondering if I could ask you a favor. I know you don't know him or me very well, but if you could hang out with him a lot.

[Sora couldn't explain the reason behind his request of course. And he had no idea how Axel would take such a strange out of the blue request but...]

I think it would make him really happy.

This isn't a prank, right? Because he got kind of mad at me last time we talked.

[He's looking dubious. So he'd put his foot in his mouth, but seriously, if he winds up talking to Roxas a lot, isn't he likely to do that kind of thing again? It's not like he knows the kid that well, and he seems kind of touchy.]

[Sora wasn't even surprised. Roxas' moods could rival Riku's, if not worse sometimes. He'd literally slammed a door in Sora's face twice already. Sora scratches the back of his head in thought.]

Roxas and me come from the same place, so I know it's been hard for him to be here. It's weird. Don't be too hard on him.

[If Roxas was feeling anything like Sora was about seeing their best friends the way they were now, Sora didn't blame Roxas for getting mad.]

Give him some time and I think you guys will get along great! And you can always ask me questions about him if you're not sure. He's a really great friend to have.

[Sora felt a tiny bit awkward playing friend match maker but it hurt him seeing Roxas so upset over Axel. If there was anything he could do to get them to hang out again, that was a plus. And he knew Roxas might not make an effort if Axel didn't.]

[Axel glanced away. That sounded like a bad world to get stuck in. This one? Well, it wasn't so bad. Crap missions sometimes, sure, but mostly they got to pick their own jobs. He could do with more memories, but on the plus side, he wasn't dead and gone. Just dead he could deal with.]

Fine, you think I should hang out with him, I'll give it a shot.

[oathkeeper]

The...witch? What?

[...OH.]

No, before that... But besides the point! Thank you Axel! That means a lot to me! I seriously owe you one! If you ever need my help let me know, okay?

[Sora is grinning from ear to ear. He was really happy that Axel agreed to do it. Hopefully this would cheer Roxas up too. And he just knew they would get along again, anyway.]

Uh, sure. Will do. Why's this so important to you, anyway? Does he have a problem making new friends or something?

[It's sweet that Sora's trying to set his pal up with new people to hang out with, but isn't it a little weird that it means that much to him?]

[Sora looks away and scratches his cheek in nervous habit. Crap, he was hoping that wouldn’t come up that Axel would just agree and everything would be cool beans.]

You’re just a really cool dude and I think he could learn something from you! That’s all! Hah!

[URGH if Roxas heard him right now he’d get beat up for sure. But come on, Sora couldn’t just be like you guys are actually best friends forever but you can’t remember that because you died so yeah.]

[He shrugs. It's weird, but Sora seems to be a little weird. At least he's friendly weird, and Axel can live with that.]

So is that what I got invited here for? I mean, Namine's nice and all but I only talked to her the one time.

[Sora laughs.]

She's really sweet, I bet she just wanted to get to know you more too.

[This -not talking to Axel like he knows everyone thing- was still really hard for Sora to deal with. He didn't like faking or making stuff up or outright lying. But that numb feeling at the back of his head was always there when talking to shinki that he knew.]
